>Valheim 1.0 on the 9th>Dragonwilds 1.0 on the 15th>Enshrouded 1.0 comes out on October 15thSurvival game bros, how are we feeling?
I don't have much hope for Valheim. The gameplay at its core is the issue, especially past the 4th biome.
>>746604269mod literally fix everything that the no fun allowed dev fucked up
Dragonwilds is a waste of money. It's an asset flipped Unreal Engine slop fest that plays like Fortnite with the words "RoonScape" duct taped on top. I seriously want my money back for that trash.
>>746604068super excited for valheim.not touching dragonwilds until prayer.fuck enshrouded.
hyped for all 3will be playing in release order unless i get really bored of one
>>746604068looking forward to Enshrouded but I've got basically the whole game ahead of me, only made it to the second biome before I decided to wait for the end of EA
>>746605276i have played maybe 15 minutes total of each. so its gonna be thousand+ hours of games to play through
Conan Exiles is still the best survival crafting I have played because it streamlined a lot of the autism requirements and having allies makes it so you're actually encouraged to build settlements so they can live in them whereas in all these other slop you end up building elaborate villages and castles for no one to live in except yourself and maybe your one other friend.
>>746605672i tried that and fucking christ it was so bad
>>746604846>plays like Fortnite????
>>746605672there are NPCs to populate your villages with in Enshrouded, at least
Which is best for a person who doesn't have friends
>>746606328Abiotic factor
>>746606328Palworld
Is dragonwilds worth it? I've never played RuneScape, and my coop group died down. I've enough with the other two games maybe
>>746604068dragonwilds is survival crafting? i thought it was battle royale slop
>>746606837what
>>746605929Yes. It plays and feels like Fagnite.
>>746606795See>>746606837>>746606891>>746604846It's just some weird Unreal asset flip.
>>746606891How?
>>746606795>Is dragonwilds worth it?yes
>>746604068>openworld survivalslopayylmao
>>746606961The mechanics of the game are just looter shooter + surface level base building + do random thing in the world. It's hardly a survival craft, and the crafting is just, 'gather x and press button'. It's uses the same assets from the Cartoon Graphics Pack from Unreal Engine and the devs didn't make anything stand out from it. It's literally Unreal Engine Slop, like Fortnite.
>>746606975Shit opinion.>>746606961It's uses the same mechanical gameplay, assets, animations and resources that are in Fortnite because the devs just got all their shit from the Unreal Engine store and slapped "RuneScape" on it.
>>746604068i think i'll play if there are mods that remove all the bullshit, i had a blast in 2021 when swamp was where you quit
>>746607149>The mechanics of the game are just looter shooterNo.
>>746604068I just hope Enshrouded has creative mode in 1.0 because I don't want to grind resources just to build more than mudhuts
>>746607493You clearly don't own the game. Fuck off.
>>746607569It would be a cool option but the grinding isn't bad in Enshrouded.
>>746607605????
>>746608020>Too retarded to screenshot >Too retarded to understand resemblancesI see why you enjoy slop.
>>746607658it's not but it's also not why I play games like this
>>746604068im gonna play it, i was wanting to replay valheim since a ton of shit came out since i last play it but decided to wait for the full release
>>746607149>The mechanics of the game are just looter shooter
>>746604068Bought this shit ages ago. I hope is better than Velheim.
>>746604546Not really. There isn't much depth to the experience past some interesting building pieces. Other games have basically eaten Valheim's lunch at this point.
>>746604068I've given up on Valheim after my 3rd attempt at a playthrough, I always quit at the swamp biome, not not too hard but the gloomy dark ambience and the fact it's a slog never fails to inflict deep melancholy on me, it reminds me I'm playing a survival crafter solo, which would be actually fun with friends instead of a chore I'm forcing myself through.
>>746604068I'm having a hard time getting excited about Deep North given how Ashlands played out...
>>746605672conan exiles has virtually no survival crafting elements at all. It's strictly a bad pvp sandbox experience that despite having a niche pve/modding community has never really seen much popularity outside of the rust community. PvE/modded servers make up like 3% of the playerbase because it's mechanics are abysmal. Not that it's really much better as a PvP experience but it's clearly meant for that first and foremost.
>>746605779What didn't you like about it? Other than being somewhat outdated I think it's fine, especially after the visuals upgrade.>>746606013Do the NPCs in Enshrouded move around and do stuff like Palworld? Or are they just static decorations?
>>746609741Damn, really? I thought it was a gooner game. /v/ only posted naked women pictures.
i wonder if there's some EU ruling that said you can't claim a game is Early Access forever that caused them all to suddenly release 1.0 in tandem
>>746609781they wander around but you can't like set tasks
>>746604068I started Valheim recently. 2 days ago, I entered into the mistlands for the first time. All joy and fun of the game is leaving me.
>>746609828I think Enshrouded announced first (and has generally be pretty consistent with updates and communication) and Valheim was like "might as well"
>>746609893Many such cases.
>>746609848That's kinda a drag. Maybe it's just me but I am a solo player so I like having NPCs that can do stuff for me since it makes the world feel more alive. Still maybe I'll check out Enshrouded when it decides to for more than 20% off like a jew.
>>746609813Of course they would. There's nothing else to talk about in the game at all. All of the PvE content is terrible. Electric football tier combat, "dungeons" "bosses" and loot that's generic as shit. The entire game was built out of the scrapped assets from the MMO that got cancelled. The map was the only interesting thing about the game, but there is nothing really in the map at all as far as unique gameplay experiences. Mods are all build-a-bitch style clothing/animation/posing garbage. A million doodad and texture mods etc.The regular game is going to rare spawns all over the map to find a master crafter. Then you're spending 48 hours breaking some schmuck on one of your 10 wheels of pain so you can have him man one of your 20 tables to get TWO recipes from him that probably don't even fucking matter in the grand scheme of things because all combat is a total cheesefest of standing on shit, or behind pillars etc.
>>746609893If you think Mistlands is bad wait until you get to Ashlands.
So one of them hit 1.0 and the rest had to follow suit because there's no need for competition anymore.
>>746609997I'm not going to lie but your first paragraph describes every single open world survival crafting game. Even the most complex one mechanics wise, Soulmask, is still dogshit.
>>746604269The gameplay at it's core is the best part of the game. The issue only big flaws with the game are the netcode and render distance of user build pieces.
>>746606795It's pretty good, better combat than valheim imo
>>746605089>fuck enshrouded.I really tried to like that game, but between playing as a particularly tall Hobbit and the bad animations I never could.
>>746609893Mistlands is a decent change of pace that you get used to and it is actually interesting to have to use your ears instead of your eyes - for a while, anyway. You can absolutely get fucked by how many resources each abandoned mine has in it, though. Your entire Mistlands arc may only take two or three mines, but you can also need 20+ across four different Mistlands spread out across the map...
>>746610086>soulmasklmaoYou're misconstruing pvp and pve games. Most pvp games are total dogshit because they have stripped down almost all of the survival elements in lieux of just killing and raiding other players as content. The most standout games of the PvE genre are Grounded, Abiotic Factor, and Don't Starve. Almost purely because they understand the mechanics and put you in interesting environments or give you actual challenges to overcome. A majority of the PvP games superglue a hunger and thirst meter onto your hud and hand you some shit melee weapon or a gun and tell you to kill each other for 3000 hours. Rust is the only decent PvP game in the genre purely because it's the only one with active development, and even then it's propped up a shitload by having actual PvE events/gameplay that can kill players.
>>746609893Mistlands is annoying until you get your feather cape, the Ashlands though. I don't know what they were thinking with the Ashlands. The enemy density needs to be reduced by 70% at least.
>>746610385I'm hoping the changes for 1.0 improve mistlands navigation. I know we're getting a grappling hook, makes you wonder what else is new.
>>746604068Valheim and Dragonwilds are both good games. Never played Enshrouded so can't speak for it. Looking forward to both Valheim and Dragonwilds. I'm first gonna play Dragonwilds, and give Valheim some more time to patch the 1.0 bugs that'll inevitably be there, because Valheim is a much longer and challenging experience, Dragonwilds is quite easy and less complex.
>>746606795>>746610785I'm gonna be honest, I think Dragonwilds mostly appeals to people who have a soft spot for the RuneScape setting. In isolation, it's inferior to Valheim.
>>746610842>I think Dragonwilds mostly appeals to people who have a soft spot for the RuneScape settingHonestly, the Runescape name might aswell be cosmetic, it's very very loosely related to that world.>In isolation, it's inferior to Valheim.I disagree, though I like that Valheim has sailing, which is unfortunate the devs haven't done more with it to tie it to progression somehow, most people just skip it for the most part by allowing ores and metals to pass through portals.
>>746609650The best tip I can give regarding the swamp biome is to build a small outpost on the outskirts of the swamp biome. A rudimentary house, with containers, and a portal. From there, you clear out all the iron in the swamp, and then you spend a couple of hours transporting the iron from your outpost back to your base. Craft what you can, and then set out to find a new swamp (if you haven't already) to build a new outpost. You strip the old outpost of its most important infrastructure, i.e the supplies and the portal (so you don't constantly have to find new Surtling Cores). With this methodical approach, it turns into less of a slog in the swamp itself, but might feel a bit tedious instead. Which do you prefer? When you have light armor, high stamina food, and good movement skills, you can avoid most of the stuff in the swamp that slows you down.
>>746610467Yep. Everyone hates on Mistlands, but it is possible to conquer it once you get the necessary items. Ashlands just sucks and it never stops sucking.Thematically it's fitting as it's supposed to be an unending war zone, but it doesn't make for fun gameplay. Most of the new mechanics are half-baked and useless as well, like the sieges, mounts, and dvergr allies.
>>746610986>Honestly, the Runescape name might aswell be cosmetic, it's very very loosely related to that world.Nah it's properly related, but the continent, its characters, and its lore, does indeed feel a bit tacked on. But they're certainly making an effort to connect it to the wider RuneScape world, which I can appreciate. I'm an outlier though, I've always thoroughly enjoyed the RuneScape setting and lore.>I disagree, though I like that Valheim has sailing, which is unfortunate the devs haven't done more with it to tie it to progression somehow, most people just skip it for the most part by allowing ores and metals to pass through portals.Well, it's people's own choice if they want to disable ore portal transportation in the settings. I think it detracts from the challenge of the game.
>>746610986>most people just skip it for the most part by allowing ores and metals to pass through portals.I've always used the default that only stone portals let you bring metals, but it's good that the option is in the game. Not everyone wants to spend the time sailing solo or even with friends, they just want to get their metal and goof off doing other things they like.
>>746609650The main thing with the swamps is to move slow and methodically, clearing enemies as you go. If you try to dash through you're just going to aggro more enemies than you can handle and end up getting caught without stamina. The level tool on the hoe is super useful for making walkable paths, and stagbreaker with it's AoE damage is great for dealing with leeches and enemies in dungeons. And obviously bring plenty of poison resist meads.
>>746610986>specifically confirmed that they didn't even improve the ocean biomeIt's over.Better sailing was the update I was looking forward to the most when they released the later abandoned roadmap, now seafaring will be in it's 0.1 state forever. The 1.0 announcement also looks like they are glad to be done with the game and will release a few bugfixes at most after 1.0, surely no huge content updates.
How's that pirate one going? I kinda hated the combat, but the building looked like it had potential and I was hoping the ship stuff would be where it really shines. The demo didn't really give you too much on that front.
>>746612523Windrose? It's alright. The combat is badly designed and the rest is pretty barebones and grindy though. I also cheated gold/silver because I was not going to spend hours and hours shooting down enemy ships to get more build pieces. I would say it's a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 survival game.
>>746612727>everything about the game sucks>7/10
>>746612783Not everything is bad, just more annoying than it should be. I eventually started using a blunderbuss shotgun build and things got a lot more fun. I still stopped playing it before beating it in the last biome though. So yeah, 7/10. Playable and enjoyable but not that great.
Dragonwilds desperately needs more enemy variety.
>>746610986disabling teleport restrictions had to be modded in back when i played so i never utilized it, but i definitely would if i were to ever play again. they took too many vacations to bother completing the ocean biome and if they don't care about it, why should anyone? furthermore, they never fixed the cart collision or road smoothing, so the fantasy of loading up a cart and hauling it up a road that you built yourself to your base at the top of a hill is so tedious and finnicky that it's borderline impossible.
>>746606795I'd say no, it is nothing like this RuneScape at all. RuneScape old-school that is, is one of the best MMOs on the market
DragonWilds desperately needs more enemy variety. Far too much of the enemy pool is humanoids and wolves for a supposedly wild and untamed island.
anyone play wicked island?how is it?>>746605089>>746610309what? i always see people say enshrouded is better than valheim. i was about to get enshrouded during the fest sale before the 1.0 price hike
>>746611086>>746610467>>746610385i hate mistlands because>water everywhere with no god water movement>bugs which fly out to you over water and attack you when you cant do shit>bugs are tanky as fuck and impossibly to solo when more than two appear>what land there is is hilly and sloped and my spear cant fucking attack downwards while bugs swing with massive hits boxes
>>746606328Enshrouded.I don't really see it as a friend-playing kind of game. The world and dungeons feel too tight; land spots are small; you are made to build villages for NPCs you find throughout the game, and the premise of the game feels like a Dark Souls adventuring/levels of exploration.
>>746610842>In isolation, it's inferior to Valheim.I think this is just a defensive stance people take because they like one game over the other. It genuinely does almost everything better than Valheim. It has more intuitive building, it manages workspaces, automation, and storage better. There is more equipment, more treasure, more "things" for people to discover. It has more biomes with actual identities past misery mechanics. It has better (but still pretty bad) combat and enemies. I think the only thing you can fault it for is a lack of random world generation. Unless you only play for the viking/low poly aesthetic I don't really understand what could be appealing in 2026. Like for fucks sake they're even the same price.
>>746610454I was actually thinking of Grounded and Abiotic Factor when replying to you original, but again you are in a thread about fucking Valheim complaining about Conan Exiles. All of these games are the same shit. Survive, farm, craft, kill shit, go to new zone, repeat.
>>746612523>>746612783It's held back by being an unreal game unfortunately. It's very much at the mercy of what assets are available to them. The pieces they have are cool for building with, but it's slim pickins. All of the mechanics are pretty shallow, and it has dogwater naval combat which is an absolute bummer. I think there are plenty of games with good ship battles they could have stolen from but to copy fucking skull and bones of all games is retarded.
>>746604068All of those suck for various reasons
>>746616978I was responding to an anon who has a pretty common misunderstanding in that he thought he liked open world survival crafters because he liked conan exiles. It's like saying your favorite MMORPG is fucking diablo.
>>746609781Whatever conan exiles did in the enhanced version prevents it from running on my machine, complaining that my card doesn't support directx 12, which is also very clearly also installed. Unless dxdiag is lying to me for no reason
Conan is a survival crafting game. Im not sure where you got the impression it isn't.You do all the zone progression stuff any other game does, kill the bosses, and move to the next area and set up.Not sure why you would lie about it.Maybe you played on a 10x progress 10x drops pvp server and thought it was the default setting?
>>746617157There's no need to be elitist over what open world survival crafting sandbox you play. There's games for everyone and honestly, I think all those you listed are mediocre compared to The Forest and Subnautica anyways.
