A lot of modern coop games feel very bloated with the RPG shit they add. Maybe L4D2 really was the peak of the genre.
l4d1 is better in almost every way. It has better balance, ambience and thoughtful infected and weapon designs.l4d2 was a rushed cash grab slop that added a bunch of powercreeped weapons and infected that happen to take less skill and reduce hunter chad counts (best special infected). Boomer did the team disruption job, smoker pulling survivors to hazard job and hunters were the muscle that also took brains and skills to play. Was fun for everyone involved. l4d2 infected in comparison are braindead. Spitter is free damage, all you do is spit on a charger or hunter victim and they take 50 damage. Charger is straight up OP with his 10 damage melee attacks and shove immunity, encouraging braindead tactics. l4d1 cut hunter's dmg to 6 in versus for a very good reason. You are supposed to outplay survivors to deal damage, not spawn in a corner and deal 35 damage for free. Jockey is also a super buggy mess with no purpose other than being a buggy mess. Not a single good new infected added in l4d2.And the map design... l4d2 map design is a joke. l4d1 maps are designed in a way to allow infected to attack from various roofs and stuff. l4d2 map design is "Here are 50 spots for chargers to instakill for pressing mouse 1. Other infected, go fuck yourselves lmao."l4d2 only has a few good things about it like some camping spots from maps removed (If you were just gonna remove camping spots, WHY THE FUCK DID YOU ADD 2 ENTIRE SPECIAL INFECTED TO COUNTER LE CAMPING YOU RETARDS?), smg ammo count increased so shotgun is not the only viable option...

Well i remember L4D 1 and 2 being about as much fun as ive ever had in a multiplayer, i dont think a game like that had been made which felt like a proper multiplayer zombie apocalypse where you bunker down. Had three solid tf2 mates where we'd spend 3-4 hours an evening for weeks on end having so much fun, then sometimes switch it up going back to tf2.
