DRRR is just a weird game overall. It's hard to ignore such a content filled game but it absolutely reeks of a game made for a Discord server sized community by a Discord server sized community. Everything, from the returning tracks chosen, to the willingness to sabotage the one thing DRRR undeniably has over SRB2K (the single player) in a vain attempt to fix degenerate playstyles and bagging problems is something that is impossible to ignore, even when divorced from SRB2K. Said game just offers more context.I don't even know if you can get that version anymore but if you wanna try DRRR i'd recommend 2.3. 2.4, as hinted above, introduced the XP system, with checkpoints per lap or sections where 1st earns more points, so that it's possible for someone that got "Mario Karted" to still earn and be rewarded for their good racing prior. In actuality this does little and in exchange you get a fucked single player with new requirements for a series of secrets that went from having a 2 continue buffer to requiring you to do a perfect run, and all of 2.4's new mechanics are detrimental to your rank in SP.

The new utility of bubble shield being able to break tripwires as well as easier momentum for tripwires when you're behind, not being able to rape yourself with your own placed items, and seeing what the CPU have on hand alone are QoL shit that makes me not ever want to go back to 2.3And the weaker engine classes got buffed too I believe
