Are you old enough to remember going to the arcades?
TruxtonI preferred undertow
>>746684598i went to arcade last month
I remember that guy. He spoke weird.
I am white and from a wealthy family so no.
>>746684598I miss this guy, didn't he go crazy or something?
>>746684693But are you old enough to remember?
>>746684818Supposedly he makes his money doing techno music that sounds AI generated
>>746684598Whenever my mom would go out for girls night, my dad would take me and my sister to the combination bowling alley/arcade (Round 1 wasn't in the US yet). It was fun, I used to get Chinese finger traps and put them on kids at school.
>>746685035damn your dad was a cuck
>>746685035What the fuck is girls night?
>>746685136Cuck how? My mom was always back by 11.>>746685191When my mom and her girlfriends/coworkers would go out to dinner and go dancing.
>>746684835I'm old enough to not remember
There were a few in my area (southeastern Connecticut) but most dried up and died when I was still young. One was a little hole-in-the-wall establishment and ONLY had pinball machines. The other was a section of the Crystall Mall that changed every couple of years. My first memory of it was as a pet store with dogs in cages on shelves. Then it became an arcade. Then it became a Gamestop, which was awkward because across the hall was an EBX (which was just EB Games) and then down the hall a little further past the KB Toys was another EB Games. Couldn't find what you wanted in one store? Just walk 50 feet to the next one. Didn't realize how good things were back then.Anyway, after Gamestop died it became an arcade again but the saddest arcade ever. Machines that didn't always work, a few token machines (the ones where you put in tokens in the hope that you get more tokens back), and there was never anyone working in there. That shit was actually depressing because a kid in 2026 should've had access to an arcade same as a kid in the 80s and 90s, not some cunts dusty old half-broken machines that MIGHT work. And now the Crystal Mall as a whole is dead and gone. Property got sold to Electric Boat and will be repurposed into offices. In a way, good riddance, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have some nostalgia for bumming around the mall in the 90s and early 00s.
I'm forty Seven years old. Yes, all the time. I lived in a small town in Manitoba, and the arcade/ice cream shop was literally the only thing to do if you weren't into sports.
>>746684598Damn this used to be my favourite YouTube channel back in 2009.
>>746684598BANISHED FROM EARTH!
>>746685480Oof should we tell him
>>746685035but what about the chinese dick traps?
>>746684598Barely. I'm 43 and my town didn't really have any arcades; just the one in the mall and it was darkly lit and where are the late teens hung out, so as a 10 year old I was greatly out-classed and you got bullied if you hogged a machine too long. I just played machines at random pizza places, but the selection wasn't very good. Fond memories of Golden Axe though; it was everywhere.
>>746684598>TFW the only other zoomer I know that remembers CGR is Scott The WozAnyway the only reason I know about this fucking insane Wii accessory was because of CGR.
>>746684598Yeah. Im a 98 zoomer but my dad used to take me to the arcade every Wednesday from like 1st grade to 4th grade to play House of the Dead 2 and Time Crisis and all that before we got an Xbox 360That fucking magician fag always gave us trouble iirc
>>746684598Nearby, we have a bar that is pinball centric but actually has a robust set of arcade games. I always hog the Metal Slug cab. My favorite as a kid though? Picrel
>>746687240If my mom was cheating she would've left my dad by now. He's unfortunately a major loser, in the sense that not much goes right for him. The only thing he did right was marry my mom.>>746687342Anon you aren't supposed to put your dick in those, it doesn't matter if it feels good.
>>746684598Has he reviewed everything?
Almost 42 and yeah. The truth is that arcades sucked though and so did those stick controls. The idea sounds good but the reality was that they were way too fucking expensive. I still remember scouring the floor for dropped coins/tokens every time after I ran out. I get it, those machines weren't cheap and neither was maintaining them - but that's why theyre not really around anymore outside of japan. The racing machines and light gun games were the best ones but also the most expensive
>>746684664Everyone did. Mark killed it out of petty jealously.
>>746684818Yeah. He did a couple of interviews with Pat the NES Punk of all people where even with Pat trying to help him he said a bunch of insane shit.
>>746684598Had to block his channel, it was just too sad to see him constantly looping.
>>746684598Dude, Truxton Vectrex El Camino Vectrex TruxtonTruxtonTRUXTONVectrex
>>746684598God I miss CGR so much. Why did mark have to start shilling comic crap and his fucking weird ass streams
>>746684598I'm a Zed, so I'm not in the traditional arcade going age range but there was an arcade in this mall that I used to go to which was pretty cool. They had this sonic the hedgehog racing cabinet and this light gun game and those were alot of fun. There was also more old school whack a mole, crane game, skee-ball, etc, and that was pretty fun too. There were also gambling games like a wheel of fortune and this roulette thing that I never played more than once because I didn't like games where your skill doesn't actually affect the outcome. Ironically the arcade "ports" of mobile games were kinda the lamest thing there; you could already just play that crap on your phone, and it wasn't that impressive to play flappy bird or fruit ninja on a big screen. I ended up getting alot of inflatable hammers and swords from the prize counter, but there were also little trinkets and stuffed animals and stuff. They did have a DSI XL as the "big prize" you could win by scraping together a fuckload of tickets, but I think it would probably be cheaper to have just bought one normally. The arcade is still in business but the mall has turned into brown people central.
>>746690763He's a nepobaby that never got over teenagers in their bedrooms becoming way more successful than he ever did. Ironically for someone so trapped in the past he would have slotted in much better if he'd started his channel in the 20s and not the 00s.
>>746692337Watching AVGN take off while preceding him by 5 or so years would mind break anyone.
>>746684598Vividly.>be 7>mom gets a job at a store in the mall>be at the mall all the time as a result>spend the entire day at the arcade while she works>regularly have a birthday party at different places>mini-golf place>pizza hut>this arcadeI still have a velvet pouch full of tokens from that place. Aladdin's Castle was real shit, I'll miss it forever.
Fuck yeah! Virtual on and some wave runner game was peak! When some douche step on the side it would make the hydraulic motion stop, dick move.
>>746690763I liked his driver review and miss his costar. It was vool when they did a reunion episode, odd that he got really into online poker gambling.
>>746688189Very cost prohibitive. I spent an good hour playing metal slug and other 1 quarter games and splurge on the 1 dollar to 2 dollar games like marvel vs Capcom big screen.
>>746687960Did you ever volleyball the human worshippers?
>>746694724>that one Ben 10 shovelware review of his with 90 million viewsWhat the fuck was that about?
>>746694829Misquoted that one for some reason.
>>746694614Oh yeah the other guy, he was good. But yeah he went off in a totally different direction.
>ELF SHOT THE FOODI hope that guy runs out of quarters soon
>>746694829Never saw it. I stuck mostly to his playstation reviews. I know he would namedrop el Camino cars any chance he got. I should check up him, I still wait for rose wolfe videos.
>>746684598I loved this guy and his deadpan reviews and then he just disappeared?
>>746695248>he just disappearedOh no, much worseHe started shilling his shitty comics and merch nonstop, plus running the Truxton and Vectrex jokes into the ground
>>746684598Yeah I remember getting raped and gaped in Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat by the nerdy little Chinese kid half my size.
i still visit my local arcade to play chunithm
I went there and looked at the games for hours, but played only like 5 times throughout my childhood. I was too stingy and poor to actually spend the credits.
>>746684598Yes I have a prize from one that's worth like 800 dollars now and was a weird antique when I got it anyway that arcade went out of business like 15 years ago
>>746697028I autistically saved every ticket I ever had, I have a shoebox full of Tilt arcade tickets that they don't accept anymore.I could have had a portable television in the 90s, but no. Now I have rotting old paper no one wants.
>>746686070Moneys not worth it only way to run an arcade is if it is a money laundering front which they are great for, but in those cases you tend to keep it as low effort as possible which is easy in modern America because everything is a front because everything sucks ass because the laws are written to fuck you.>Just look at Dave and Buster Stock
>>746684598i'm old enough to remember when arcade machines had ashtrayst.born in1976
>>746692705I too loved Aladdin's castle still have some tokens somewhere and several amazing prizes no wonder they went out of business God I miss them
>>746697163You always cash in your chips you fool you only keep a handle for the memory/to have some to sell to collectors. Well now you know
>>746697261Wow did you ever smoke in a grocery store?
>>746684598Is he still around or did he die like his channel?
>>746697163They should accept them, this is robbery.
>>746697390maybe, i dunno. but i sure smoked in pubs and mcdonalds
>>746697163Here's one of the cool prizes I got at Aladdin's castle. My brother called it gay, but every bitch who has ever seen it in the bedroom loves it. That place really was a good arcade for the money Aladdin ran a good casino alot better than Charleston Cheese
>>746684598I remember when my parents would gamble and leave me at the arcade with 10 dollars for 2 hour.
>>746697163All of those ticket games like tears in the rain.. I got in a fight with a store manager at a birthday party because a stack em game robbed me of the win by being clearly rigged and everyone saw it. That friend is dead now. Arcades were cool it's a shame the barcades I have tried were gay Dave and busters is fun late at night when nobody is there and you've got some money to just burn
>>746697482Yea I smoked in a few restaurants before they did away with that sometimes you still can today if they have some weird gambling license loophole and allow it which more places are starting to do because smoking is cool again. Grocery stores were before my time though which is why I asked I knew older kids who did it was one of the first things they took away before they took it away everywhere which I think was a big decline in our nations freedom and was most likely done to remove the social and cognitive benefits of nicotine which are now being used by big tech.
>>746694829the overlooked true desire of gamers all around the world is Ben 10 shovelware for the Nintendo DS and yet they keep giving us photo realistic open world sandbox games
>R ZOoOoOneUndertow was my fav
>>746690169Derrick already deboonked that
>>746697484That's badass dude give me that
>>746696936Four quarters + tax could rent a NES game for the whole weekendIt was hard to justify spending it on arcade games
>>746700328That interview sounded like he had a gun to his head, poor Derrick went through some shit.
>>746684598TRUE arcades? Yeah, they were sadly falling out of fashion when I was young. "Game Corners" are all you get today.
>>746684598I know a game about arcades let me find it.
>>746684598They had a purpose when they were legitimately superior to home consoles. But they were always designed to extract as much money as possible from you with the game design, while not the same mechanically the same in spirit with gachas these days. But they were a fun time for the period they had a purpose.
I'm pretty sure arcades never existed in my country.
The game is call the coin game i never seen people on v talk about this game before. Yes you can play with friends or by yourself. https://store.steampowered.com/app/598980/The_Coin_Game/
>>746705586 here a video more about the game. https://youtu.be/b31r3-XkdHY
>>746684598Yes but there have never been arcades where I liveA couple of racing cabs in a bar or a DDR pad in a bowling alley maybe
My only interaction with arcades was going to a bar/coffee shop in the 90s with my parents that had a caddilacs and dinossaurs machine in the corner.
