I've noticed that in reviews complaining about the limited combat variety, the footage they use looks boring as fuck and shows them being too scared to level their skills because it consumes time. The reviewers who praise the combat instead show footage of them using the full plethora of blood magic and vampire abilities, which at least looks fun. I think there's maybe some potential here on the harder difficulties, but fuck paying full price.

I made a thread that got over 100+ posts and everyone said they were buying Onimusha, or that Onimusha was the one you should buy.

I'm still getting Dawnwalker first. One anon said to wait till Halloween for Dawnwalker and he has a point; it'd make a comfy Halloween game. The reason I don't want to wait is a lot of stuff is coming out in October that I want to play, obviously we have Phantom Blade Zero coming out close to Halloween as well and everyone will be playing that. I don't know...I might get both but it's not like you can play both at the same time. It'd make more sense to buy one, and then buy the other later on. Especially if you want to save money. I think I'll get more playtime out of Dawnwalker than Onimusha. Onimusha has like a 20-30 hour story, and I don't know if it has much replay value. Dawnwalker has replay value and each playthrough could take you easily 50-60+ hours. It gives the player a reason to replay it, and you can try out different builds as well.

I've seen massive hate on /v/ for Dawnwalker. If anything, I've rarely seen people hyped or excited for the game, which is a shame because I've been excited about it since I first saw it premiere like a year ago. I think the issue is that it's releasing alongside Onimusha, which is a popular series and a Capcom game. I'm sure a lot of people are going to buy both, but again...it just makes more sense for me to buy one and then buy the other one later on like in a week or two. If I bought both of them then most likely I'd end up playing one, and the other one wouldn't get touched for a week or two anyway. I'm more worried about spoilers, and I won't be able to talk about the game with other anons depending on which one I play. We already know that if you ignore the time limit then Coen's family dies, and that's the only real consequence to ignoring the time-limit, but I suppose it depends on if you actually want to save them or not, and how you choice to play. You can play as an edgelord that embraces the vampiric side; throwing away your family. I suppose it also depends on how much the player is punished for letting your family die. It's probably written as the "sad/bad" ending. I think the game WANTS the player save their family, so it instinctively pushes you in that direction. Some reviewers said there isn't really much of an overall plot to the game. You simply need to save your family and are given 30 days and 30 nights to get strong enough to do that, but other than that you're free to do whatever you want in that time. You can gather allies, get stronger, help people, or chose to do nothing. The game isn't forcing you in one direction or the other. The player gets freedom to choose how they want to play and progress the story.

I do think it's a bit retarded that almost everything costs time points though. You want to dig up this treasure? 3 time points. You want to clear these vines/debris away from this entrance? 3 time points. You want to fix this shrine? 1 time point. You want to train this ability? 1 time point. Etc. There is almost like a mathematical sequence to it. You have to think how much time something will take and is the pay-off worth the cost. I sort of like that idea, and I sort of don't.

One reviewer I watched said that there was quest he did to go free a guy in a prison to get some information, but freeing the guy actually costs time points, THREE time points to be exact, so he decided to let the guy rot in prison and do the quest a different way, because three time points wasn't worth the pay-out to him. I do like that it makes the player consider if doing something is worth the reward. It gives it more of a risk factor.

Yes, but the time doesn't fly in real time. Essentially you have 30 days and 30 nights to complete your goal, and you can fuck around in the open world for as long as you want. But every quest/activity you perform costs some amount of "time units". You have 8 time units to spare per day + 8 per night. Once you used all of them up, the new day starts. And this continues until you run out of time.
So it's essentially a shittest for you to decide if you want to deal with some pointless Ubisoft nonsense and waste time but grand you resources, or do some hefty story quests that push the plot forward but don't give you many resources to compensate.

It is a factor, but you can do most of the sidequests in the game within the time limit, as long as you don't have the OCD and don't feel the urge to clear out every Ubisoft activity.
