Good gameplay and character building for a "traditional JRPG", well written characters and story, good music. It has the 3 major tenets of what people look for in an RPG of this nature. Anyone who pretends otherwise is just some shitposter trying to make the game's existence/success into some weird west vs. east battle or new bad old good fuckery.It's definitely not the best game ever by any means, but it is a high tier game.

I recently replayed Final Fantasy X, the first real fight was just you selecting "Attack" over and over again, in E33 you are getting your head smashed in by a mime, forcing you to instantly engage with the combat system. The writing doesn't waste time, but immediately grabs you, every conversation, every sentence adds a new detail to the setting, the issues it faces and your characters' motivation. Add some great character designs, an amazing soundtrack, a good story, and you've got yourself an amazing game.
