For example, animations that lock you into a vulnerable position that will punish you for bad timing like only Monster Hunter potion flex are good since it is something you control and work into how you play. However, something like input delay is just bad or awkward targeting are bad since they aren't meaningful and just get in the way. Going back to controllers, gyro where you lose accuracy from shaky hands is the option you are looking for that is less efficient and accurate but still better than mouse. It is a meaningful challenge to overcome and separate players of different skills compared to a mouse that is much more stable and consistent since you are sliding it across a surface. Analog aiming is bad because it is in conflict with how you would naturally want to adjust your view and aim. It feels robotic and disconnected compared to gyro or mouse.

I've been experimenting with using mouse and controller with great results lately.Perhaps it's because I am both a "native" keyboard and mouse player whose first time ever feeling comfortable with a game controller was with the Wiimote+Nunchuk combo, but I find it very comfortable.What I'm currently doing is joycon on my left hand, mouse on my right. The mouse is the average gaming mouse with two thumb buttons and the DPI button behind the wheel.You get the comfort of holding a controller on the left hand, the movement smoothness of a joystick, with the pointing capabilities of the mouse, without the edges of inherent to gyroscopes.I ordered an extra joycon pair from China, the Ao-Lion J20, and I'm about to test it out, as it is more hand fitting than the official joycon design, and I expect good things from it.So far I have tested it on three games, well you could say two, Portal, Portal 2, and Morrowind.Portal is the absolute perfect game for this imo, and I have discovered it's the perfect playground to test out odd configurations. Morrowind has shown me this configuration excels at keeping the more complex and comfortable menu system, while allowing you to use a controller.If anyone wants to try this out, I can share some insights on how the controller feels like. And how to map the keyboard to both mouse and joycon to get the most out of it.I have a strong suspicion that joycon like split controllers are straight up superior in every regard to traditional controllers.
