My plan was honestly pretty simple. Come home from work this winter, play for an hour or two, make some progress, log off, come back the next day. I wasn't looking to rush endgame or turn Maple into a second job. I just liked the idea of having an MMO that could become part of my routine for the next few years.Looking back, maybe I was expecting a bit too much before the game had even launched.Over time, and especially these last few weeks, I've definitely changed the way I'm looking at it.It's not really because of one specific thing either. It's more the accumulation of stuff. The Founder's Packs, the uncertainty around monetization, the concerns about bots and what that could do to the economy, At this point I'm completely fine with the possibility that I come home from work, play a couple hours a day for a few months, enjoy the progression and the nostalgia, and then eventually move on. That's basically how I already play a lot of single player games anyway.And honestly, I think there's something to be said for approaching Classic that way in general.Not in a pessimistic way, and not because I think people shouldn't be excited. I just think we don't really know enough yet to decide what this game is going to be long term.Maybe it's better to just enjoy the launch for what it is and see what happens after that.See how Nexon handles the bots. See what happens to the economy. See how monetization evolves. See whether communication gets better once the game is actually live.Basically, let the game prove itself over time.If Classic is still in a good place three or five years from now and I'm still playing, that's great. I'd genuinely love for that to happen.And if I only end up getting a few really good months out of it, I don't think I'd even consider that a failure anymore.
