Thanks Nintendo!!

Really? Only 30%? They can't even do 50% for 9 year old games like Odyssey or BotW?

This isn't going to apply to their major releasesThis will be Lego Worlds on sale for $3 again
>>747319151are you too retarded to use google?
Keep holding out and you'll get a notice like this in your email in 5 years
>>747317830>only on digital games
>>747319151yes I can
>>747318731Japs don't like putting their creations on a discounted sale so even 30% is a lot for them. It's a different culture from ours
>>747319637Capcom, Square, and Sega put their games on sale for dirt cheap all the time. It's a distinctly Nintendo and also Elden Ring for some reason problem.
>>747319637huh? just bought Monster Hunter Rise on a -80% sale
>>747319189>>747319637I hope iwata sees how valiantly you’re defending his company when he looks up at you lil bro

>>747319992I miss this era so much for so many reasons but this is one of themThe sales and promos were so coolNot to mention Nintendo still had soul>inb4 there were no games worth playing1. Not true2. The Switch generation after 2018 and the entire Switch 2 so far is shovelware, the 3DS was hit after hit after hit
>>7473201953rd party nintendo exclusives pretty much died after the 3ds
>>747320195*after 2019Otherwise correct.
>eshop etrian odyssey is $55>the OG cart with art book can be found for $20>brand new at launch it was $25 as no one bought 3rd party tendie games >untold demake can be found for $30>steam HD triple bundle is $35LolLAMO even
>>747317830>30%>used to at least 70% and that's not even considered a 'customer appreciation' event lol
>>747320195I think the Switch 2 is the 3DS all over again. They were riding the high from the DS era. The 3DS had a shocking launch with no good software for a while. Then it got better as they adjusted to the market and released games that justified the upgrade. Unfortunately a price cut is out of the question in the modern era but at least their aggressive bundles have been appealing to fencesitters.
>>747320653nah its not even comparable on that level i am a massive tendie and the bitter truth is that normies wont care for the switch 2 unless its 3d marioeveryone is tiptoeing around this issuebananza was fantastic but it is no substitute despite how hard it is marketed
>>747320925Bananza was mid, probably on par with SM3DL or SM3DW but nowhere near Odyssey.
>>747317830Snoybros? Our tariff sale?
>>747320925I legit thought about Switch 2 and just said I'll buy one next year when Pokemon comes out because 520 vs 450 bucks isn't really a massive price leap, but if you moztly play on pc, there is very little to justify the purchase at this point in its lifespan. Its biggest 3rd party exclusive is live-service pvp slop with no release date, so it's looking grim
>>747321038well i personally thought it was better than odyssey but never mind how you feel about the games quality the point i was trying to make was that little timmy isnt gonna go oh wow i have to beg for a switch 2 to play a 3d donkey kong platformeronly mario has that universal deep rooted appeal
The N-word Manchildren are apparently calling this a huge win
>>747317830Maybe NOA will announce a decent translation next.
>>747321830kek
>>747317830Would been interested if it was 80-90% sale...

>>747321707>little timmy isnt gonna go oh wow i have to beg for a switch 2 to play a 3d donkey kong platformerThen they need to change that. Donkey Kong Country was a showstopper when it was revealed. That's what Donkey Kong is supposed to be.
>>747318731These aren't shit tier like your Saaros or whatever inane indie garbage is hot on Slavic steam right now.

>>747323810Games that released in the same year like Nier Automata, Yakuza 0 and Persona 5 have been $5~. There is no excuse other than greed.
>>747324553Atlus, Sega and Square-Enix don't really have the pedigree they once did. I mean it's sad, I don't like that it's the case but it is. They should be trying harder to create experiences worth a high dollar besides overcharging for say Octopath Traveler and offering no Switch 2 upgrades to their existing titles and what not. All three of these companies are actually bad about that. Kind of funny that Nintendo gets the Persona 6 announcement, the worm has turned quite badly on Playstation. Kingdom Hearts and now this?
>>747324756Right now Capcom is arguably at their peak and their games are also $5. Stop making up excuses for why your wallet is getting sodomized and why consumers getting a deal is actually a bad thing. What a dumb apple toddler mindset.
>>747324968>Right now Capcom is arguably at their peak and their games are also $5wtf no they aren't. Requiem is $50 right now
>>747324968It's kind of debatable but regardless if they feel they need to slash prices anybody can go ahead and try. I think it's more of a desperation move from some publishers, Capcom isn't too desperate although you gotta remember stuff like Dragon's Dogma 2 (great game) and Monster Hunter Wilds (uh....) did not exactly light the world on fire with their perceived excellence.
>>747325135Well we're talking about slightly older releases, to play defense for my opponent.
>>747325226Oh fair, yeah RE7 is usually dirt cheap.Honestly with older 'tendo games you're better off buying used physical.
>>747324756>>747323810You are coping over other companies having meaningful sales in defense of your favorite corporation. You're weird.
>>747325328D-depends... pic related>>747325530I buy games for what they are worth to me (everybody does this btw). Nintendo games tend to be worth more. Not Sushi Strikers, not Drag n' Drive but Donkey Kong Bananza or even older titles that I don't already own but have enjoyed before. I buy stuff like Pregmata new and stuff like Yakuza when it goes on discount.
>>747325530>snoy goalpost moving
>>747325669anon if the games you want are that old just emulate them
>>747325806Sometimes I do but it sort of depends what the sales pitch is. I prefer playing things on Switch 2 to PC, WHEN it makes sense mind you. I have a steamdeck that I emulate PS2 games on all the time on my TV with a dock.
>>747325135The REmake games have all been around $5. Honestly, RE9 will probably dip to around $40 if not lower on Black Friday. I suspect that the Black Friday deals this year will be very good because every game on the market has to compete with GTA 6 being brand new at the time and GTA 6 is going to be the only thing people care about unless the deals are very lucrative. For a recent game, MH Wilds has already been $12-$15 physically but lmao MH Wilds.>>747325167It's because these other publishers have to fight for sales, they're trying to compete with each other on every single platform. If Capcom is selling all their Resident Evil games for dirt cheap, Square needs to start selling Final Fantasy games for dirt cheap if they want people to play their games too. Sega releases a lot of DLC with their games so they like to sell you the game for cheap and then hope that you buy some of the DLC to offset that. Which is why you have the Persona 3 remake($which has been $13 already) have The Answer as paid DLC.
>>747325971They wouldn't have to sell for cheap if they didn't do this rush to the bottom, they are dumb-dumbs. Nintendo proves them wrong completely. This is a broader industry thing and driven by western games but these 3rd party Japanese devs want to emulate western studios more than Nintendo does. They will have to take the bad with the good, I'm afraid.
>>747325669>Cope cope cope cope cope cope (cope cope cope btw). Nintendo cope cope cope cope cope cope Donkey Kong Bananza cope cope cope cope cope cope cope cope cope. Cope cope cope cope cope Yakuza cope cope cope cope copeYou can't explain why those games are 'worth more' than massive pc releases and those movie games Nintendo is starting to emulate without sounding like a corpo shill. Buying the same third party game for $10-$20 more (or even in some cases more than that) just because you can play it on you Nintendo entertainment device is asinine no matter how you slice it to any rational human being>>747325715Riveting post. +1 (you)
^what a shit post
>>747326401Struck a nerve, huh?
Sales better than that happen all the time on the other platforms
>>747326524Thanks for affirming that you aren't arguing in good faith whatsoever. You aren't even pretending to.
>digitallol
>>747326140>They wouldn't have to sell for cheap if they didn't do this rush to the bottom,Well once upon a time, first party devs did this exact same thing! All the greatest hits games were $20 on every single platform and it was glorious. But Nintendo stopped it with the Switch and you can see in real time how Mario Odyssey went from being $30 on sale to $40 on sale recently. Nintendo is getting greedier over time and that's objectively a bad thing for consumers. That being said, Nintendo operates differently because they get a cut for third party sales and MTX on their consoles even if their more expensive games don't sell well (Mario Tennis Fever as an example). If Persona 6 doesn't sell well because somehow the westerners chimping out about the cop theming on Twitter manage to successfully boycott something for once in their lives, that's on Sega. They're kinda fucked.
>>747326624What is the argument in 'spending more on a product you can get elsewhere just because it's sponsored by your corporation is dumb?' It's a fact. Not an opinion. If you cold surveyed 10 strangers on the street and showed them the same game on Steam or GOG next to that game being sold for more on the eshop, and ask them which thwy would prefer to buy for their child, assuming the have both a pc and Switch, you might be surprised by the results.
>>747326913The price of games boils down to how much consumers are willing to pay for them. If they aren't paying that price, then the perceived value decreases and the price is lowered to recoup costs. This is basic business anon. Nintendo games typically hold their value because that's what they are worth to the consumer as they are perceived as sought-after and high quality releases (whether you agree with that or not is irrelevant); some Nintendo games have released that were poorly received enough to drop in value relatively quickly: Prime 4 is at least a partial example of this.Even outside of Nintendo, another anon brought up MH Wilds from Capcom which is a good example of a game's value dropping relatively quickly (~4 months after launch it was also 20% off, by the following year it was permanently cut to a $40 title and this is ignoring Steam sales) - it dropped because it is perceived to be a poor-quality game. RE Requiem is guaranteed to hold its value for longer and is still $50 today (and that's WITH a sale ongoing currently)Your garbage shitpost earlier was not worth replying to earnestly so I mocked it. You type like an underage retard.
>>747319637DLSite might as well have a permanent 10% discount because its constantly giving me coupons every week.
>>747326335>You can't explain why those games are 'worth more' than massive pc releasesSomething is worth what somebody will pay for it, any other take is mindless garbage.
>>747327557>>Even outside of Nintendo, another anon brought up MH Wilds from Capcom which is a good example of a game's value dropping relatively quickly (~4 months after launch it was also 20% off, by the following year it was permanently cut to a $40 title and this is ignoring Steam sales) - it dropped because it is perceived to be a poor-quality game.NTA but MH World has the same thing happened and that was very well received. It's other companies having more competition than Nintendo does. Nintendo can charge that much because you buy the Nintendo console for the Nintendo games and Nintendo's ecosystem has the least amount of third party games, especially during the Switch 1 era. The Switch 2 is getting more third party ports now, which is why you're seeing more people complain about Nintendo's prices when you could grab the RE box with 7,8, and 9 for $80 with all their DLC but then Nintendo is releasing Xenoblade 2 and 3 for $70 each with no DLC included.
>>747327794Common marketing technique, make somethings price slightly over its sweet spot for consumers, give them a 10% voucher and they feel like "Well I'm saving money here, it's a good idea!" I wouldn't even really say it's evil or anything although it does manipulate people but they probably at least do want the thing they are impulse buying.
>>747328471>MH World has the same thing happened and that was very well receivedNot sure how this is a point against my argument. It's how well received a game is that determines its value, MH Wilds was not as well received as World thus got poor sales and they had to cut the price relatively soon. I don't know why Wilds wasn't as well received, I'm not really here to argue about that, I just know that it was based on sales data and pricing.>Nintendo can charge that much because you buy the Nintendo console for the Nintendo games and Nintendo's ecosystem has the least amount of third party gamesThis is a rather short-sighted view as older Nintendo consoles had much stronger third-party support yet still the first-party releases commanded some of the highest value over time. Like I already said, it's the perceived value from consumers that keeps prices high - shitty first-party Nintendo games do exist and they plummet in value: Starfox Zero, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, and Amiibo Festival are examples of this, and lately I've seen Prime 4 prices start to fall in some regions (but not quite as much).Sure, Nintendo prices their games high compared to other publishers, but if they don't move units the prices drop. That's just business. It would be nice though if they reintroduced Nintendo Selects, but the game sales are likely too successful to warrant it post-Switch era.If you feel the prices are too high -> don't buy.The prices will go down, even if it takes 6-12 months.
>>747329584>Not sure how this is a point against my argument. It's how well received a game is that determines its value, MH Wilds was not as well received as World thus got poor sales and they had to cut the price relatively soon. II'm saying that World had the exact same thing happen so how well a game does is irrelevant to third parties. Sega has discounted games after the first week or 2 before because it lined up with Black Friday, that's just how other companies do things. Their games compete with a lot more titles because they don't have a Nintendo logo on the box. >This is a rather short-sighted view as older Nintendo consoles had much stronger third-party support yet still the first-party releases commanded some of the highest value over time. Well yes, those third party games got ported off and there's less of a collector's market for those. The prices of old games DO drop when they hit NSO(see Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance down about $100 from the peak): The games that haven't like Skies of Arcadia are still worth a pretty penny. You're right that occasionally games like MP4 don't do well and go on sale but that game also had a massive budget behind it. Potentially the largest of any Nintendo game ever. They NEED to recoup their losses on that. But the difference is other companies put their games that sell well down at that price too.
>>747317830Is this for the US only or are we leafs included too?
