/v/ the musical is going live in about 4 days, since it runs from the 15th Sept. to 15th Oct. This is a reminder thread because every year people show up deep into it and go "shit, I forgot entirely it was this time of year!". Maybe share favorite pasts songs you've listened too, worked on, ect? Last year was fantastic and had many great songs from writers, singers, and editors old and new alike, so I'm looking forward to the great things /v/ can accomplish this year.
Last year had a strong vibe to it, and was surprisingly drama-free. I can only hope the good times continue, because boy I could use them this year.
This is the most difficult song I've ever had to writehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WRNv0X9KpY

>>747378814/v/ the musical isn't parodying songs from video games, it's parodying songs in general and making them about video games. and we do songs from all time, every single year people pull out songs we've never done that make people go "holy shit how did we never do this yet".If you do want shit specifically from video games, I suggest the Mewgenics OST. >>747377651Haven't contributed to the musical in years (I think the last one I did was VII). Feel like I should give it one more go, seeing as this site is slowly dying.
>>747379657Every fucking year the site's dying. Lock the fuck in
>>747379621Pretty much the important songs (and the ones done by Tim Curry) are already taken. We can still do Dammit Janet or Hot Patootie Bless My Soul but I ain't doing those songs lol
>>747379657There are still some people from pre-VII but we certainly lost a lot, then gained a lot of fresh blood since then, especially during Covid. We lost a good amount of people post-hack like a lot of the site, but still managed to get a lot of great stuff done. If you're considering it I hope you do show up even just to do a little bit, 4chan as a whole is declining but honestly the musical threads each year are one of the only places that still feel like the good ol days to me.

SWEET SEMAN OF BABY JESUS ANON, IT'S ALMOST MUSICAL TIME, HOW WE FEELAN??In a bit of a fucked life situation right now and might be going through some shit at the exact fucking time that the musical starts, if I'm not present for the first few days, would someone mind taking up the mantle for a little while, while I get my IRL shit sorted out?In the meantime, anyone has any suggestions for the NewFAQ this year? I haven't made a lot of significant changes to it recently and feel it could use some touching up.

>>747381528the jannies have an agreement with the musical, it is more than grandfathered in at this point and most rules do not apply during musical threads (which this is not one of technically so don't push your luck). case in point was the guy last year spamming ena stuff, in a typical long /v/ thread he would get banned, but since it was /v/tm the janitors only check out the reports for things that truly matter to the site and not thread quality, like porn or illegal content.
>>747377651Could be funny to do a song about console prices rising.
Icebreaker for /v/ The Musical XIV: What is a song parody you've been trying to get out of your system over an extended period of musical time but have never managed to coagulate into a full parody? In 2017, the year after DSIS went viral, I got the idea to do a parody of The Girl At The Video Game Store by Parry Gripp called The Girl On The Video Game Board, but I've consistently had trouble writing enough digestible lyrics for it to fill the entire track and it doesn't have an official instrumental in the wild.
While waiting for it to start, what vidya have you guys been playing over the last year and will you be making any songs for them? For me it'sRhythm Heaven GrooveXenoblade Chronicles XFinally got around to continuing Deus Ex Mankind DividedAnd finally copious almost too much amounts of PoE1 AND PoE2. I played both the curse of the allflame AND return of the ancients/forbidden rites league right nowYou guys?
Where do you people discuss music creation? Threads on /g/ die too quick and nobody even replies to me on /mu/ when I ask for feedback
This is still my favorite I think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXo_cRG39ssHas anyone in recent years done God Is for something? I got an idea recently.
>>747381725Good idea, I'm sure someone will do it this year.>>747381727Reminder for other replying not to give details as far as songs go because you don't want to disqualify a song for posting lyrics outside of the musical period. That said, my 2 white whales are a bite of 87 song and "you got any games on your phone" song. No specific song picked for either, but the topics are universally funny to me. I will give my all to tackling at least 1 of them this year.
>>747381437Oh, abso-fucking-lutely. First thing I thought of when I heard that song, I've just gotten a bit tired of writing Janny songs myself. I've been bouncing around some ideas in my head for Like You and Piss (A Love Song) too, but none of those ideas have really stuck. But honestly, a lot of the season 2 songs have good musical potentialLosin' Streak, Speedrun to Redemption I'd fucking love to see something for Vox Populi, though I can't think of a good subject for it. I also had an idea for Love In A Bottle, though I'm not quite locked in on it yet

>>747381754It's tricky because the economy is bad so I stopped being able to buy new games, I got Mewgenics at launch early in the year and bought nothing since. I've been playing the shit out of retro ROMs and my steam backlog this year to fill my gaming time. I could absolutely vibe with writing songs for amazing games I finally played like Chrono Trigger but I don't know if anybody else would care enough for that sort of thing to get off the ground.I don't know much about Rhythm Heaven but I loved the song people did for that series last year.
>>747381727Not so much a specific song as much as a specific subject matter, a song about being mediocre at fighting games. You know the vibe. You're better than ALL of your friends, but the moment you go up against someone semi-competent, you fold because you're not actually good at the game, all your friends just really suck at it. And I think I finally have it this year.
>>747382025>I finally played like Chrono TriggerBased

>>747381821There are dedicated threads for /v/tm music creation from the 15th September to 15th October right here on /v/. People typically post written songs directly to the thread and if they need help they ask for feedback and sometimes get it, it comes down to if anyone else cares about your topic/original song enough to also spend time on it. Sometimes people did google docs to write songs together, and we had an IRC a long time ago that has been practically dead since the site we linked to get noobs into an IRC channel without a guide no longer works. There's also a shitty little discord, normally we don't like dropping invites outside of right when the musical year ends but that server got nuked last year so fuck it I'm guessing some of the fags from it didn't get reinvited personally, here: https://discord.gg/CWR9NjYAh
>>747378239Kek, love it.
>>747381754I didn't think people on this website played video games. I only visit during the musical times.
>>747381921>Deltarune parodyplease dear god was last year not enough
Anyone really hoping for a specific song source this year?I'd love to see some parodies of Epic The Musical this year
>>747382045that sounds pretty based, as someone that sucks at fighting games
>>747382230Is that https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbqsLXjyXw3iDPFOcGU13VL0E7lEtlup7 ? No promises but I'll put it on as background music day 1 of the musical this year and see if something hits me.
>>747382230The only thing I can add to this is that I hope we can make some finished, high-quality tracks parodying accredited musicals again this year. We've already covered a ton of them and we're being pushed into more remote territory if we're looking stuff to cover from actual musicals - there was a Repo! parody last year - but I have one specific Disney track no one has done yet that I'm hoping to write a very compelling parody of this year.
>>747382230Also going to throw in that I *really* want to do a Miracle Musical parody this year. Surprisingly, although we have touched Tally Hall, I don't think we've ever done MM.
thanks for lettin me get my filters ready early m8
>>747382462That would be the one. Last year I tried to do one for Wouldn't You Like, but there weren't any takers. Might resubmit it this year though, since the topic is pretty evergreen.
>>747382226there was another chapter this year, anon. People are going to write songs about it. I would be extremely surprised if there isn't at least 1 Flower Man parody since the mad man Toby decided to make ANOTHER song with official lyrics this year.
>>747382495Most major musicals and Disney got used up the first three years because the first year's core identity was Disney parodies since the first couple songs parodied well known Disney stuff, and also they were the "easiest" to make videos for for the based chad video makers to pull the Disney sing-along videos and plug stuff in.This is like year 14 or something and the strip-mining of musicals and Disney has mostly been completed.
>>747382495I do love actual Musical music but my tastes are too niche for /v/tm I think, they pretty much never get sung because people just don't know the sources and Musical music is hard to learn sometimes. Maybe I'll do another Putnam County song this year, those do pretty decently.
>>747381754I can't afford a Switch 2 or PS5 so no
I want to sing, but my voice and cadence are too distinctive and I don't want people bothering me when they recognize it.
>>747382665Yeah, I know, it's just a lot of fatigue after the absolute flood of them last year. Deltarune got more spammed into the albums last year than Undertale in it's entirety has ever had. People can do whatever they want, I'll just be the grump that skips over any lyrics about it and then quietly skips the track when I listen to the albums.
>>747382803Be the gamer girl (male) anon.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izQNYkoXNR0
>>747382803CounterpointDo it anyway, and ignore it when people recognize it like a normal person.
>>747382665>I would be extremely surprised if there isn't at least 1 Flower Man parodyThere's a pretty big difference between "parody about Deltarune" and "Parody of a song from Deltarune". Personally I won't mind a Flower Man parody, the Pooh Baseball one from last year was decent. I've just heard enough about the game though last year, we always have a few people that clearly favor specific IPs like touhou, but Deltarune is in a funny spot where for some reason /v/tm has multiple of those autists all competing for the one that makes the most songs about it. Lots of amazing games get 0 songs but Deltarune getting some is a given every year for the next 5 years at this point.
>>747382803Unless you're Roco none of us are going to care. Even then I want the plant killer to come back
>got a 1 week vacation to another country in the middle of this shit this timenot the best plan of mine
>>747382803What are you planning a music career or something? Ain't no one cares.
>>747382803Don't let it hold you back anon, /v/tm is pretty reasonable when it comes to that stuff. We genuinely need the fresh blood and people are smart enough about it to keep quiet when they recognize like a vtuber or whatever, and we do have a few of those.
>>747382858NTA, I wrote a vrchat song last year that nobody bit and I love the lyrics on it, so the first thing I'm doing this year is putting it on the new sheet. We need more gamer girl (male) songs.
>>747382932>the Pooh Baseball one from last year was decent.Thank you anon, I'm actually the one who wrote that. That said I also have an actual song ABOUT deltarune planned for this year so I apologize in advance for that.
>>747381754>>747381727Someone has to do a song about how bad Metroid Prime 4 was. >Greene hasn't released a new hype video yetWe should probably start making preparations for the possibility that Greene might not host youtube uploads this year, just in case.
>>747381727>Link he come to town but it's about the OOT remake
>>747383253I feel like the OOT remake is begging for a "Nintendo ACTUALLY hired this man" song of some kind.
>>747383091Very cool. I don't really mind a new song or two, just don't be too surprised if people give you the side eye, it's going to happen. I usually get my deltarune info second hand from the rap battle community on youtube so I don't know the characters that well, and probably will skip singing that topic because I know deltaruners are feasting with or without me
>>747382803I think as long as a singer isn't some giga attentionwhore who uses the threads to shill his Youtube channel or whatever, nobody cares.
someone post that list of /v/ the musical songs they kept in a playlist. it had the top tier songs of every year, even the lesser known ones
Around the time Eminem released The Death Of Slim Shady, I wrote several parodies of tracks on that album intended to comprise a full conceptual parody of it where /v/-Tan stands in for Shady and the entire thing was sort of going to be an exploration of /v/'s history, its relationship with troll's remorse, and a lot of other higher-concept meta stuff. This included a parody of Houdini called Victini, which was finished and which I managed to pack with the most complex lyricism ever written for a /v/ The Musical rap parody without breaking the rhyme scheme or syllabic structure of the original song. I don't have access to it any more, but if there's interest in a 2026 rewrite and someone can get me a high-quality instrumental, I would be up to take a crack at it because I am 100% certain it would be our biggest hit since DSIS. I even made an edit of picrel where it's the Druid instead of Shady, but that's lost too.
>>747383236the trailers? they used to get done by a guy that quit like a year and a half ago, and it wasn't greene.the uploads don't happen until after everything else anyway, if someone needs to do it it'll get sorted out at worst by the discordfags.
>>747383236I tried making pre-prep threads about a week ago, but y'all didn't listen.

>>747383454Did the guy just send the trailers to greene and then Green posted them? Because every trailer since /v/TM 11 was posted by Greene
>>747383691>My song is in the list
>>747383648it's probably going to be the newest song we have 4 different parodies of so, they have to be spaced out on the albums for optimal "secret additional break times" during the stream.
>>747378316I've been getting into video editing more recently but I still don't think I'm skilled enough to do a whole video. Shit's a real time investment, especially with having to keyframe moving images around.
>>747383769If you're talking about the trailers with like the old FOP one and the last one being the SCP parody where it's like a computer monitor being recorded on the screen, then yes those were made by 1 person that sent the files to Greene and they no longer participate and didn't explain why.

>>747384131Thanks. For the record it's not all the songs I think are good either, a lot of good stuff had to get cut for various reasons. I tend to use this as background music and a lot of stuff gets cut for reasons like not being good as background music for like cleaning, working out, or when I'm playing a game that I'd rather mute than listen to. Or like, a parody is of a song I already have in a different playlist I listen to a lot, which is very rare these days because honestly I mostly listen to /v/tm now, the playlist is big enough for it.>>747384182Very nice ones!

>>747378628Great picks especially with Fires of Rubicon. I hope Sabanon rocks again this year now that Legends is fully out and is giving so much new good material to work with.
Right when I'm planning a giant life change, lovely. But if anyone wants to duet or do a group project I'll make time
Question How long do you think needs to pass before another DSIS song is considered acceptable? Or should DSIS be retired entirely? I have been rolling an idea around in my head for the original DHMIS, but don't want to commit to it because I feel people are a bit sick of it after the songs we got from the show

Only 1 person can make the 1st song after all, and many have passed on it before because it's got a lot of weight behind it.
>>747382718just learn to sing ok and do your own niche songs, or attach an attractive subject to them
I like the animation someone did for the VOTV song. I feel all of the references were fun if you had play the game but more importantly show any newcomer that there is more to the game than an empty square box of a world to play in. MrDrNose is a massive faggot nevertheless but as long the game is free he can be as shitty as a person he wants to be. I hope if people lack the musical talents they think about making an animation instead. It can really add so much more to a song.
>>747386290Singing just ain't what's fun for me, I'm happy enough writing random stuff, some of it gets sung by the end even if it's not the niche stuff. I've tried attaching various topics but I'm not hip with the modern kid crowd so I wouldn't know how to write a genuine song about like roblox or deltarune.
>>747386874Really literally anyone can participate because there's a huge wide spread of stuff to do. Singing is obviously a big one with a spotlight, but then there's writing, editing, and of course video making. Stuff can't get done without people that manage the spreadsheets and thread chores. File organization/editing is important too so we actually get albums, but we do have 1 beloved prime autist that has handled most of that side for a very long time so other's haven't had to learn much yet. Past that we still need people to keep the thread engaging, and there are always anons desperate for feedback and advice, so someone can help a lot even if all they feel comfortable doing is saying "hmm, I like parts of this, but if you're doing that topic maybe include a joke about this part too" or "hey this part here was supposed to rhyme, and this part has too many syllables to sing it and sound right".
>>747387238I don't really care too much about those kinds of games. I wanna make a parody for Blade of Darkness instead
>>747386874I could probably try out making short gifs + a lyrics roll. Do wanna learn how to make a full fledged flash style animation though

>>747387975Gifs with a lyrics roll is plenty, hell a lot of the old-school ones just took the original music videos and added lyrics over it with a few edits here and there like slapping an anon blank head over the character head if they felt like it.
>>747388110in the sense of making something like thst it should be easy desu, only thing I haven't tested are making a longer gif and making a lyrics roll

>>747383691>mfw my song's in the listShit i gotta pull my finger out and contribute this year
>>747383691>alot of my songs are thereAww, you're too kind, anon.
The first year songs are so innocent, /v/ really had no idea how bad things would really become. The things they sang about back then are like a trip into quaint nostalgia for a better time when the worst thing a AAA game could do was have a disappointing ending.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC7DHfyMKFo
>>747389343we've gotten far away from the normal over the years
>>747389343One of the changes that I kind of like is the steady shift towards more positive songs. The inception of the musical was complaining about the state of the industry, but as time has gone on there's been more and more songs about the shit we love about games, or even songs that are just "I really like this one specific game."Like, obviously there'll always be room for complaining and venting, but I like how many more songs there are that are gushing over something you love.
>>747390663Back in the day, the industry turning to shit was new. Now we're a decade and a half into the major decline and there's near no point in noting it anymore. All the problems aren't even fresh and new anymore, they're the same as always and just worse. However, "games journalism" has basically died out which is kinda funny.
>>747382230I want at least one Red Vox song. Something about Vinny getting his start here, by being such a pest that they had to make a whole new rule to get him to cut it out.
>>747390904It's honestly a reflection of modern culture in general. 10 years ago, game company does something bad? >"HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO US?"These days, game company does something bad>"Uh... Yeah? That's what they do?"
>>747390663Much of the first year was also simply dictated by how it was an unplanned spur of the moment activity spawned from the first two or three songs which were Cis-Fire iirc and then Friends in the Industry and which were industry-critical Disney songs, and so that set the trend for a bunch of people too to jump on board following that template. Even still, there were songs like On The PC which were just fun jams, or songs about pirating.
>>747381725The Price by twisted sister could be could for this one
>>747382803There are ways around it. Last year I used a pitch shifter to make me sound black so no one would recognise my voice.
>>747382665I'd just hope for a funny parody of Mew Mew Cutie Magic with equally as incomprehensible lyrics.
>>747377651your shitty ai general is for /mu/ or /vg/, friendo! /v/ is for video gamnes!
>>747391261The first things that lead to the Musical format were covers of Prince Ali from Aladdin, and A Girl Worth Fighting For from Mulan. That lead to Cis-Fire and Friends in the Industry. There were so many of these cover projects popping up that the Musical threads were created to contain them all and avoid having them deleted or moved to another board as spam.
>>747378497Godlike
>>747391365I've wanted to try to make backings with pitchshifting but it almost never works.

One song I wanted to do was "GTA6" to the MLP song about the ponies being excited to go to a party. I don't know if I can get away with this considering all of the anti-pony stuff on 4chan though. basically the song would be about insane hypeposting for GTA6, with different aspects of the game based on what GTA5 hashttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOF3BkkRPSs
AI can pretty much kick everyone's ass at singing parody songs now since it actually sounds good instead of like a bunch of drunk screeching cats.

NEW UPDATE FOR THE PORN GAME
>>747389343This year, be the change you want to be. If someone wrote something like year 1 and presented it by saying so, I'm sure it would be received well.
>>747397627It's against the rules and spirit of the project, and frankly kinda disrespectful to the anons. It's only "fine" in the sense that it's fine to rape and murder someone if you hide the corpse well and never get caught, because you can only get punished for things that others know you did.
>>747398828We're entering year 14 and there are still some people literally from year 1. It's not all teens.t. 30 year old that found the musical in year 5
>>747402284Well it was kinda a mistake to make this post because this isn't a musical thread, but the jannies are more lax about the rules in the actual musical threads. Just don't actually meet the IP or use an image from it when posting the song, just post the YouTube link for the original song alongside your parody and let people realize the source material with their eyes instead of your text spelling it out. If you do eat a ban it would be short, just save whatever you make after it until it ends and it'll stillbe there on the spreadsheet.
Man it's been to hot to make music here and my job has me fucked all day long. But the what I'll try to pump something out for you guys. Lil vote? I've been playing fo3, noita, and space engineers lately. Which one should I start on a song for?I am a cowboy so I'm thinking fo3 or new Vegas but it's up to you guys
>>747407150I don't think I've ever seen a Spsce Engineers song, sounds interesting
>>747402315It's a good thing AI is banned because this is a passion project and not soulless slop then. AI can do a lot of things, but singing specific slurs over copyrighted music isn't AI's strong suit to begin with. When the concept of a project is that a bunch of fags from /v/ gather to start peaking their mics to stick it to the gaming and music industries at the same time, most people have the common sense that AI makes no sense for it and the rare times someone didn't get the memo people have explained it and kept it out. AI is one of the only things not even allowed in the extras bin of DLC and that's not going to change.
>>747403001Could work, but the good parodies tend to be ones that are creative in the concept. It's not really a parody if you take a song about your 9 to 5 sucking and make it a song about your 9 to 5 sucking, but with vidya mentioned here and there. Half the lyrics would have to stay the same, and it's sometimes a positive to leave a little bit the same to juxtapose the parody with the original if the theme was twisted heavily, but if the topic of the parody is the same as the topic of the original then there is nothing to juxtapose so it's just a tweaked cover. I'd rather hear a 9 to 5 parody called "Ninety Five" about how you think you'll still be a gamer when you're old as shit, and have the lyrics completely twisted to be about what your life might be like then as you deal with the ways the industry gets worse over time after it ramps up for so long, but still manage to find some joy in the hobby because the core is good anyway. That would work as an actual parody while having a lot of room to honor Dolly even indirectly with lines about how you'd try to be positive because you know you'd be lucky to make it to 95 because many great people die young, ect.
>>747404645Ride On Rhyme was fantastic, great job on it. I'd have to look into his stuff more but honestly writing for non-english songs is hard.
>>747405895IT'S MADE BY SCHMUCKS

>>747420176Yes. Now help me think of other nine songs when we inevitably fall to that page again.
>>747420204Yeah sorta, I can go higher now, but still not as high as I'd want.So shit like Cradle of Filth is out of the table. Even 10 months of practice wasn't enough learn that, but fry screams like in something like Dark Funeral I can pretty much do.
>>747420817I am extremely curious how those screams are actually done because I've heard people that my friends know IRL who can scream like they're a fucking baby or something which is pretty much mechanically the same thing but it seems kinda impossible in practice.
>>747418375not sure what this is even trying to imply but the musical doesn't make money and unlike AI it isn't used by scammers from India
This is the year I get over my shyness and sing a song.

>>747380539Chanology newfag moved away from /b/ to /v/ around 2008.Lurked for about 2 or 3 years before even making my first post.Never participated in these but always loved the songs about board culture, even if some anons think they're ghey. Don't know what I'll write but I wouldn't be against trying to singfag.
>>747435590nta but that list cuts out a lot of soul since it's for background listening. a lot of the most soulful songs get filtered out of it over time, especially a lot of like year 1 and 2 songs because most of the best ones not only are rough audio quality, but have music videos on youtube for when I do want the nostalgia of them. when I started keeping a playlist (maybe year IV?) it was only like 150 tracks of peaking mics, so I heard the same ones over and over until they wore thin. these days with 578 tracks they tend to stick around longer. the old ones have staying power, and the XIII ones survived 10 months in the playlist already so they've been through several dozen rotations at least, that filters out basically anything that doesn't work for me. I don't have a specific youtube playlist but there's another 100+ great ones not on that list, especially looking at the classic disney stuff, the whose line stuff, dsis, ect.
>>747383691Holy shit, was tabbed out of what was going on with /v/ the musical for a couple of years there, wrote Shooty Shooty Bang Bang knowing there was a half-finished demo but had no idea until literally just now it was properly finished.Might be just another song in a sea of plenty of others, but thanks lads, made the day a tiny bit brighter knowing that.
>>747436284>Never participated in these but always loved the songs about board culture, even if some anons think they're gheyI think people tend to love the board culture songs as long as they stay away from meta circlejerks, and those are very rare (I don't think we had any last year?).>Don't know what I'll write but I wouldn't be against trying to singfag.Take a shot at it, there's always hundreds of written songs to pick from pretty quickly so something is bound to be up your alley. I'm really slow at writing and last year I spent most of the month locked in on a single song, got almost nothing else done. The voices are already back whispering a great idea for Remember The Name but if I do that it'll be another repeat. I have to beat my demons away with a stick.
I plan on getting classical training since I've been gobbling up art songs and opera and it's most of what I listen to these days. So with any luck, my screeching won't be as bad next year.
Looking for some inspiration for one of my songs I've been cooking up for this yearWhat are some of your favorite bugs, glitches, or exploits in specific games that you are aware of? Looking specifically for fun stuff involving traversal, movement tech, and getting out of bounds.
>>747440889as someone that has written about literally 100+ games I've played over many years, 2026 is the worst the economy has ever been for gaming. it's also still on the modern downswing of segregated communities, I've played a lot of indie titles that probably very few people have even heard of here. pic rel is a humble bundle I got an email for today, never heard of any of these IPs other than steamworld which still isn't on my radar, we're not in the days where if I told you "hey humble bundle is giving Binding of Isaac and Meat Boy and Braid and a bunch of other hit games for $1 total" you'd say you were waiting to get in on those.
>>747441569look up Hoiking in Terraria. Legendary movement glitch that became so big the devs won't patch it out, basically taking advantage of the way momentum is carried in tiny slopes to travel crazy fast.
>>747381754Of the lesser-known games I've played, the most notable were Ender Magnolia and Sultan's Game. Would be down to sing about either of them.
>>747441748I don't even like Terraria but that sounds based as hell of the devs in a day and age of such aggressive "no fun allowed" patching.
>>747442123it's basically exactly what you asked for. people even use it to get through solid walls into areas you shouldn't be able to enter yet. this gif is a simple setup, you basically just need the right lineup of little slopes so the game gives you broken momentum launching you to wherever the path ends. not too far off from mario 64, which also has movement tech around glitching your position on a slope so the game gives you crazy momentum.

>>747443290Best in the autobattler genre in my opinion, although that is not that high of a barThe werewolf dude has nice voicelines, the dragon ones are mediocreI still feel like heroes should have like 50% more items each to truly make it difficult to force draft game
>>747443473Not yet, great song however. Had it in my long list of "potentially write something for it"
>>747443290NTA but it's one of the most devastating game cycles I've ever witnessed desu. scammed the original indiegogo backers, scammed republic backers, scammed early access buyers, and went back on basically every promise they ever made by being run by a complete dickhead that personifies admin abuse. I'm waiting for them to launch mobile because there's a chance they end up going free to play (yet again) and then finding ways to scam the people that paid before it was free (yet again).
>>747444184seeing them get sued by their own investors and lose made me lose hope in the game ever releasing, and when it did I was shocked. the game seems fine considering the path it took, but most autobattlers are fine. it does make me laugh seeing reynad lie through his teeth over and over on dumb shit, like claiming the game was never going to include nft stuff, and then just banning the wave of people posting the legal documents where it was very clear that the bazaar was a "crypto game" that was going to feature heavy nft features. even once they had to give the money back and changed their minds about nfts, they still technically had them in the game on release, only non-tradable, and then wiped the numbers off them later. I wonder if that's worth a song, it feels too autistic and petty but maybe that's perfect for the musical.
>>747443473if you want to know if a song's been done yet, check the meta song list:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16rgydhRgtfhrkW3lQwLSyjuS5INyFnd5hVvWx31JW00/edit#gid=1298302042
>>747445107>I wonder if that's worth a song, it feels too autistic and petty but maybe that's perfect for the musical. It would be great. There's a lot of different ways it's bizarre.Don't forget how successful and charismatic Reynad was before this began. He was in the Forbes 30 Under 30! Then he went radio silent for 7 years and came out looking and sounding like a homeless schizophrenic. If the game weren't good this would only be somewhat funny but the fact it's great makes it fascinating.
>>747388064I kinda wanna try a Dragon Ball song this year again. Not sure which one though, there's a few I really like that might work out.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q67rfUtocvQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9rVRAWKGGw
>>747380539/vm/I am a newfag from 2018.I am one of the people responsible for this gathering.https://youtu.be/ZOFrGM_wWgc?si=uIlsKsL27y66Z_3vI know some /v/ cultureWas thinking about maybe auditioning for this years /v/ the musical.Don't know which song I'd parody though.I have a blue snowball, a autistic guitar, a dollar store plastic flute, and the retirement home I work at has a piano I could possibly record from.I'm an absolute beginner at guitar and piano.
>>747447703just do whatever comes to mind, though we mostly do singing I do guess someone could like an instrumental section to insert into a song, i know some people insert hums of shit like motifs
>>747377651>every year people show up deep into it and go "shit, I forgot entirely it was this time of year!"Don't worry, they will still do that.
Deciding to marathon all of 12 and 13 to prepare for the new year. Wish me luck.EVERY ANON IS A FAGGOOOOOT
>>747447703You don't really need to audition, it's just a thing people join in and everything people finish makes the cut. I will say we don't tend to do instrumentals ourselves, typically the workflow is:>someone writes a parody of an existing song>optionally anons give feedback as needed, repeat this each step>someone sings those lyrics, tweaked a bit if needed for syllable count or flow>someone gets the instrumental from some source like a library of rockband instrumentals, or just runs the original song through a vocal removing program if we can't find a clean existing copy>someone mixes and edits it all together into a finished songThat said, you are 100% allowed to do something like personally play the music of a song you're singing for an authentic feel, that HAS been done before but it's rare. In fact if you're capable of that it would be super based, we fucking love people showing up and adding their own flavor. The only big rules to really remember are (1) no AI for any step and (2) if we already did a parody of a song before, it has to go to the DLC albums and not the main albums. If you ctrl+f a song's name and it's not on this list, you're good to go: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16rgydhRgtfhrkW3lQwLSyjuS5INyFnd5hVvWx31JW00/edit#gid=1298302042
>>747444024Nice. Let's see
>>747448956I know some /v/ culture, but not sure if I know enough about current topics to make a whole song parody about one.I have a bluesnowball with me on my desktop. I have no vocal talent but I will try to sing. I can record with vacaroo, and then some Anons can tell me how shit I am and how I can do better, in which I will try to get better.
>>747450373Vocaroo absolutely #rekts quality, at least use your built-in voice memo app and upload it to a filehost.
>>747450373Record at least with Audacity (though REAPER is preferred in my opinion) so it's not shit quality and better preserved. Upload to Catbox or some shitYou could just write something classic if you want, maybe about an old game you like where you make fun of it (from the heart) or just play up the things you like in a funny way.
>>747450373>but not sure if I know enough about current topics to make a whole song parody about one.a lot of people just pick 1 or 2 types of things to do, no need to write if you're more comfortable with audio stuff>I have no vocal talentthis puts you above the half of us with negative vocal talent, and we still sing. you'll do fine, and you might be shocked how good editing is as far as being able to make rough takes sound good in the final track.>I can record with vacarooThis can work if you truly can't do something else, but I'd strongly recommend just downloading Audacity. It's free and easy to use if you want to avoid fancy features or learning anything.>click the red circle record button>click the square to stop after you're done singing>top left file tab -> export audio>upload that file to a site like Krakenfiles.com>give us the link That's the full process, then we can give feedback if you want it or jump straight to editing.Either way, I'll be happy to see some fresh blood in 4 days (or whenever you show up, we got a month after all).
>>747451298>>747451676Alright, current setup is:Blue Snowball MicrophoneReaperIn my room somewhat spacious (Don't know too much about noise canceling )Going to sing:Start with singing some already made /v/ the Musical parodiesMaybe get the courage to write something original with some input from people on this thread.Give me something to sing to start with I guess. I'll record in reaper, and upload it with catbox/kranefiles/filehost/whatever.
>>747452718The musical first starts on the 15th (we have specifically formatted threads for it so you'll notice), unless you just wanna do it like a trial run or something.
>>747452838Cool cool, better I practice now than show up on the 15th not knowing shit.
>>747452887No stress on it, the project lasts a full month (Sept 15th to Oct 15th) specifically so if people need time they have as much as they need to figure out what they want to do. Can't hurt to practice and we'll be grateful for the help no matter what, there's no /v/ the musical without new people from /v/.
I'm glad I hung in this thread cause now I might sketch out my songs ahead of time a bit, or at least decide what to parody beyond reusing stuff from last year
>>747448719So far the tracks I like from Year 12 (excluding my own):Every Anon is a FaggotMy Feed and SeedDisaffectedThe elden ring, someone's suing versionAll the LolisMemory HoleBefore I Post ThisSaw That (You)GnosisRed Red Sine
>>747453448very kino list. love the art for all the lolis too, damn it's pro-level.
>>747453654NTA but I'm always amazed by the level of talent we manage to scrape together each year.Me personally, I can't draw, write or edit worth shit, I just got blessed with halfway decent vocal abilities.
>>747453843/v/tm impresses me every year, just about the only thing I can do well is organize even if I pretend I can sing and get by
>Reddit the musical
>>747455980newfag, we've been doing this since before you were born
Let's freaking go! I can't wait to sing songs and write some.
Some songs I've got lined up without spoiling what they're about:Ready to go day 1:>Grand Romantic Life - Mom Rock>Static - Flavor FoleyStill being labbed out:>Human - Flavor Foley>Bottle Rocket Astronaut - Bug Hunter>Two Bed, Two Bath, and a Ghost - Bug Hunter>Pinecones - Bug Hunter>Read Between the Lines - Tom Cardy
I bet this year people will even sing some of my songs, very excited.
>>747457130nice, don't recognize any of those but I'm not too knowledgeable about music so that checks out. good luck this year anon.
Can someone make vidya parody lyrics for We are Charlie Kirk? I wanna sing it
>>747377651I just hope that with rise of ai music tools, we don't see that being adopted for /v/ the musicalabsolutely no need for /v/ musicals being soulless
>>747459728AI got big for music stuff like 4 years ago and we've held the line fully, no shot any of it gets in. Fags don't really try to submit it, but if they do they'll get told to fuck off and it'll get nowhere near the albums.
>>747435930>Every memory that never made the archive,>And the ones that got erased from my old harddriveStill gets me
>>747381952Sneed
>>747459495It's AI generated music, so even if we parodied it with a real singer, that would require using AI music. it's not going to be allowed on the albums unfortunately.
>>747381754I replayed Dishonored and played Detroit Become Human, but neither has sparked an inspiration for a song just yet. Other than that I'm keen to come up with a musou song, but unfortunately most of my vidya tastes has deteriorated into live serviceslop
>>747441569Parallel universeshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyn3N55elS4Also watched a Portal speedrun video lately, they just figured out new teleporting tech
>>747383435Around the time Eminem released The Death Of Slim Shady, I tried writing parodies of his Slim Shady songs but as a stand-in for Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls
>>747461223Not sure if the first year goodbye songs ever got archived anywhere.
>>747453654Thank you, anon!>>747453448Continuing:General Sturnn (the production is whew)Hey There, IguazuWOMAN'S TURNLate Night SatelliteSpecial StageLifestyles of Bethesda EmployeesAnita the HackSweet Ol E3Live Service GameIt's-a Me NintendoHomo Negro Vidya SlopTangled Up in LorePeople EaterShooting Down the SunX Givin Timmies to YaSkies on FireNintendo Nintendooooo VersionGame BeaterMake em Mad (<--- you are here)I actually thought I was almost done with Year 12 until I checked the list again. Will finish tomorrow.
>>747377651>favorite pasts songs you've listened toI feel like it's pointless to mention classics, so yeah. I really enjoyed Nobody Else But (You)
>>747464604Hope Astley makes it again this year.
Hey guys, what's a 2 syllable word that would be good to describe /v/ the musical, I was considering saying "Fourteen" since this will be album 14 but that sounds kind of dumb.
>>747463960thanks for liking special stage, i had some problems getting the mix to work but i think it turned out well in the endwas thinking of making a simple gameplay MV for it but I hadn't much clue of video editing then, idk maybe I could after the musical since the game's hard as nails
>>747466420N
>>747467146I actually changed it a bit, and the chorus for the song will just have "VTM" like VEE-TEE-EMM. I'm putting a lot of work into my first song, but I know no one's going to sing it. (and I'm fine with that)
does anyone have the list of songs available on hand? or songs that have already been donei know there's a spreadsheet somewhere
>>747467473>>747448956
