If you had to convince someone to get into Nintendo games, what are the best of each of the main franchises?I'm looking to be converted.

Only thing I don't like about mario 64 is how slippery he is. You walk up a 5 degree angel for 2 seconds and he flops on his belly and slides halfway across the stageIts ridiculous

I realized some time ago I really dont care for a lot of "Nintendo Games" despite always having the console. My most played "Nintendo Games" on Gamecube were racing games. Double Dash and GX. Mostly played the Resident Evil games and Killer 7, Eternal Darkness and stuff like that. The Switch 2 is a great console you should get one.
This is what I played on my switch
>>747410714I disagree. TotK is more or less an improvement in every regard except maybe for the story. TotK has more enemy and boss variety, actual caves, better dungeons, better abilities, a stronger feeling of progression, and no Revali's Gale to trivialize traversal.

>>747407257This list is 100% spot on. For Fire Emblem I'd add>Path of RadianceIt's not really the best, but it's a good mix between the classic play style of the older games and the more modern incarnations. It's a good starting point to see if you like the series. Genealogy of the Holy War has the best story, but gameplay is kind of jank. Engage has the best gameplay but the story is completely retarded.
Awakening is genuine trash that is all vibes, he will despise fire emblem games if you make him start with the shittiest spammiest game in the series. There is nothing about the gameplay or map design in awakening that is superior to fire emblem fates.
>>747406952while i dont think many of these >>74740695 are the best in their respective franchises, their are the best ones to start. I'll just suggest Fire Emblem/FE7 on GBA for this franchise and any of the GBA pokemon games as well for pokemon

>>747414274Okay, and? Are you going to deny that OoT is not the quintessential 3D zelda to play? There's only 2 N64 games even in that list you fuckwit
>>747407257Holy fpbp.>>747407790Also very good. I can't really throw stones at anything suggested across these posts. Anyone notice how the bulk of the recommendations are from the SNES-GameCube era? Almost as if this company peaked...If you need a Pokemon recommendation, I think GSC / HGSS are the best overall, but a newcomer to the series would probably appreciate FRLG more. Avoid anything from the 3DS and beyond.
>>747414636tbf there are some great games in the Wii U/3DS/Switch era as well, but if OP wants to get into these games it usually makes more sense to play these earlier instalments (some of which are still arguably the best ones anyway)If I was recommending multiple games, take the Metroid IP for example, I'd recommend Super, Fusion, and Dread (in that order): but if you had to play one, Super makes the most sense as it establishes the most important aspects of the series and is also the best 2D Metroid anyway if we're being honest.
>>747414510>Are you going to deny that OoT is not the quintessential 3D zelda to play?It is, depending on taste. Most people prefer Breath of the Wild whether we like it or not.
>>747415053I loved BotW so that doesn't bother me one bit
>>747414510>Are you going to deny that OoT is not the quintessential 3D zelda to play?NTA, but while you should absolutely play it, it doesn't excel at anything in the 3D Zelda genre anymore other than story and maybe music.Almost every sequel improves upon the formula one way or another, be it combat, overworld, far more advanced dungeons, in-depth advanced boss fights, etc.Let's face it, as good as the OoT Remake looks visually, it won't mask its primitive design; nobody playing it for the first time today is going to get stuck on the dungeons' puzzles or boss fights. It'll mostly feel like mindless busywork to them.
>>747415126OoT establishes nearly all of the lore that the subsequent games follow, and I'd argue it has the best balance between its gameplay elements pretty equally as it's all at least "good" if not "great", while the other zeldas tend to focus on a couple major aspects at the sacrifice of other aspects of the game.
>>747415126>nobody playing it for the first time today is going to get stuck on the dungeons' puzzles or boss fights. Then who did they focus test Wolverine on?
>>747414069I love the original, but TTYD mogs it in almost every way.PM does have better music tho.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrUMG_a5NUo&list=RDjrUMG_a5NUo&start_radio=1
>>747415019I'm still in complete agreement, even down to your Metroid recommendations and order. I just tend to think the direction of a lot of modern Nintendo titles hasn't lived up to my expectations. There's good stuff there, but I think a person could stick with games from the SNES-GameCube run and be perfectly happy. That's a dense library.
>>747415345Yeah I agree to an extent, someone like OP would have pretty much no reason to play any Nintendo game from this past decade as he'll have more than enough from their older generation titles to play through: most of which hold up really well today.
>>747407257Sacred stones (gba) and if you don’t like that then play awakening (3ds)and if you don’t like that either then FE probably isn’t your thing which is fine. Also play any of the 1st 3 donkey Kong Country games and Mario & Luigi: superstar saga(original gba version)
>>747415281This. And the other 3D entries tend to have some of the dumbest, mandatory distractions. I appreciate OoT for simply letting the player make progression without having to stop and collect a bunch of meaningless trinkets or hike for tens of real world minutes between objectives.
>>747415767OoT has the least bullshit/grindy moments for sure, and its tutorial isn't obnoxious (unlike some of the games, especially TP)
>>747415596>if you dont like these dogshit games, maybe fe isnt your thingOr you could just recommend him a good fire emblem
>>747406952You're not going to like all the tendie games. Even I, who grew up with Nintendo, took awhile to get into all of them and I don't even like all of them. I guess start with what genres you're into because there's a good chance it was inspired by a tendie game. Like JRPGs? Try Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Earthbound. Like Metroidvanias? Try Metroid. Like platformers? Mario and Kirby. Souls Likes? Zelda.
