>>
>>747450707
>The projects have the same devs no?
Not really. Like i said it's only a couple, and even then it's mostly on PT's side that there's a significant amount of overlap, pretty sure the average TR dev doesn't work on any PT project at all
>>
>>747450707
There's some overlap, but like the other anon said people work on what they have motivation to work on and since they're not being paid/accepting donations (other than a yearly server cost fund), they aren't beholden to anyone but their own autism.
I'd rather they take their time and release something high quality than just shit out some AI generated slop like Skyrim.

Buddy the people who made morrowind good do not work at bethesda anymore, in fact the majority of them were fired immediately after morrowind released because of creative differences they had with todd's clique during development, which is a big reason why oblivion, skyrim, fallout, and starfield are such utter fucking garbage dogshit.

The best possible thing that could happen to the elder scrolls IP is for bethesda to go bankrupt and some hedge fund gets the IP and sits on their ass doing nothing with it but also doesn't send lawyers out to stop fans from making fan games/mods on the IP.

there isn't a single development studio around right now that could do elder scrolls any justice, the whole industry is full of dumb fucking cuck retards, foreigners, and women.

>sane custom potions
I want to whine about it that's it's the whole point of Alchemy, to make potions that are better than what you can find and buy, but 466 secs is just ridiculous.
20 Health for 15 seconds, 300 pts in other words, is good enough, better than an an Exclusive Restore Health, which is Restore Health 40 pts for 5 secs 200)
What worries me is that it could make the other kind of potions, I won't be happy if I make a potion of Lightning Shield and it's still 20 pts for 60 secs.

Also, I learned that when you got 45-59 and 60-100 Alchemy, you can see 6 and 8 effect respectively. That's funny.

A running theme with these mods is that you can tweak them to your heart's desire.
If you think the mod makes them too weak, or limits your ability to scale based on fortified attributes/skills, then just go into the settings and raise the numbers
Also making a potion of lightning shield is just a terrible idea to begin with because unmodded elemental shields are hot garbage and never worth casting.
>>
>>747452950
Hey now, Oblivion was good. Sure it was pretty generic, which is why Shivering Isles was so good, but it did a great job at being a good game.
Skyrim had far too much problems, butchered too much, but it's real and only fun quality is being a modded sandbox game, but there's still some neat things like the perks, before Dragonborn, you had to think about your build. Rest in Peace spears, and other weapon types.
It's interesting how Oblivion and Skyrim solved the problem of weapons. Oblivion picked Blade and Blunt, doesn't matter if it's two handed or not, Skyrim picked One Handed and Two Handed.

It's by Fallout 4 that everything turned to shit, not matter the few good ideas they had, there was just too much shit covering it.

>>
>>747453817
Gotta disagree with you, dungeons are funnier, and loots are funnier. The joy of finishing a dungeon and finding an item that isn't good or useful, but still with multiple cool enchantments really made my days. Finding a Ring of Perfection in a dungeon you happily explored among others? It has no price.
It's Skyrim that sucked, no matter what you did, the treasures you would find sucked, only one enchant, even the artifacts sucked.
Oh and Leveled Items sucks.
>>
>>747454079

>>
>>747454261

>>747454346

>>747454382
I think the only stories I found in Oblivion was: the guy that gave offering to an Atronach, the wizard that moved on with his girl but they broke off because the girl wasn't into the whole living in a dungeon thing. the twist being that as she left, she stumbled down and slowly died. You find her corpse, while the wizard doesn't know and thanks to his journal, her think her crying for help was just him hearing voices due to missing her. Very tragic. There's also the Grey Prince's dungeon. Poor vampire just wanted to be a father and he got sealed.
And I think that's all.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying they got spaceships or whatever. They are technologically advanced, but not THAT advanced. They used mechanical, tonal effects, and such.
We don't talk about how Skyrim partially retcon it all into being thanks to soul gems.

Not really. Plot wise is linked directly to Arena.
>>
>>747478485
They do, there is a reason why the empire bans trade in dwemer artifacts, the empire has a dwemer airship in redguard
>>
>>747478485
The Empire tries to exert a monopoly on Dwemer tech for obvious reasons, so it would be hard for the average Dwemerboo to study that shit on his own.
>can't be just a taboo thing
It's illegal.

>>
>>747477141
I like it. I like the blood lands behind it. Creepypasta material.
>>
>>747478485
They probably do, the Empire repurposes a Dwemer airship in Redguard, so it's pretty clear everybody in-universe has a lot of interest on the Dwemer.

You don't see it in Oblivion because in that game Bethesda was actively trying to ape LoTR and as Bruce Nesmith himself admits, sidelined everything that was not directly related to the "Martin Septim saves the world from daedra" plotline, nor in Skyrim because they were seemingly going for a weird sort of low fantasy vibe in that game to the point people in-universe don't even believe spriggans exist.

>>
>>747478990
That reveals a deeper issue within the setting, because Dwemer automata aren't actually that special. They're just metal golems, powered by magic and soul gems. They're not actual real life robots with motherboards. What that means is that basically everybody in the setting is capable of building an automaton or raise a necromantic servant if they are or are willing to hire a wizadd, so how come slavery is still a thing? You could just argue that actual living beings are better at fine work than automata of any kind while also being much cheaper

This series, Seven Fights, is in the library of the college of Firewatch. It's tone and language is wildly out of place in the setting, but it's pretty funny. If you haven't tried the Audiobooks mod you really should. Not having to stop to read makes it so much easier to go through all those books.

In the base game, Argonians describe themselves as having "the currents of blood magic running swift through their veins". Of course, nobody knows what the fuck that's supposed to mean since it's never elaborated upon in any Argonian-related source, neither in the Morrowind era or stuff like the novels and ESO, and the only mention of "blood magic" later on in the franchise's history is some vampire shit in ESO completely unrelated to Argonians.

Anyway, not even the Project Tamriel people are really sure of what to make of it since Argonia hasn't begun development yet, but one guy proposed to make "blood magic" a mechanic wherein you spend health points to cast spells instead of magicka, i assume for no other reason beyond it being cool. >it was pretty generic, which is why Shivering Isles was so good
It really bothers me when people say that, implying that the mushrooms made it look more "alien" and as such more interesting to explore. The problem with Oblivion was the art direction and its implementation insofar as immersion goes (aside from goofy faces and shit voices and voice acting), not to speak of limitations. It was a strange choice to not use fog but instead let the player gaze upon unrendered forests and seemingly untextured grass. I remember climbing atop a mountain once and caught a glimpse of the Imperial City and it look like a bucket.
Even leaving that aside, any wooden cabin or generic Imperial fort; Caldera or Pelagiad, they look a hundred times more interesting than any given purple mushroom in Oblivion. I'll argue the same thing for Blackreach, the higher fidelity makes it not look as unwelcoming and unsettling, but at least the art direction is better and it looks somewhat good.
I think maybe Skingrad is the only example of Oblivion looking beautiful and interesting. Perhaps Cheydanhall and Leyawin as well. Really any city not named "Imperial City" which was just a bunch of corridors in a circle.

But all this shouldn't be said, because they shat on their own fucking lore with not making the empire a jungle and making the ayleid ruins into reskinned dwemer ruins. I personally was okay with FO3, because if you're going to make a Bethesda fallout it might as well be a spin off. It was dumb and campy and its own thing. But at no point it was a great RPG or a FO sequel. People refused to see that Morrowind was lightning in a bottle and Bethesda would never replicate it. Morrowind is closer to Baldur's Gate and Arx Fatalis than it is to Oblivion in every way that matters. And Skyrim is a joke.

I agree with this assessment. Dwemer shouldn't have digital computers and all form of abominable intelligence should be purely magical/tonal in nature.

The dwemer are less "technologically advanced" and more like a hypothetical, "what if the greeks were able to industrialize off archimedes screws, greek flame throwers, mirror heat rays, Antikythera mechanisms, aeolipiles, optical architecture, etc. etc."

I don't know if there's a genre for this, but maybe you could coin it as Hellenic Mechanipunk

It's not funny as in it's not a coincidence, it's a concept lifted from Logos theology and at its core is similar to the notions of spells i.e. making a sound that shapes reality. Tiber Septim shouted the jungle away similarly to, if you want, God speaking the word into existence (Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.)
Mankar Camoran acquired that power too, and the Dwemer essentially synthesized it.

It felt silly seeing a teaser for the High Rock area and it had a normal forest with random floating jellyfish monsters. Feels forced and, funnily enough, unoriginal.
I think the idea that all of Tamriel needs to be as 'weird' as Morrowind is both boring and a misunderstanding of the intent in the original game, where Morrowind is specifically supposed to be weird in comparison to the outside world that the player character comes from.

Different parts of High Rock. They are. Kirkbride's design doc on TES cosmology (which he wrote while still a Bethesda employee, before you start throwing the fanfiction word around) states that all the planets and moons are planes of existence surrounded by the Void of Oblivion, i.e the Divine Planets and the moons are virtually the same thing as the planes of Oblivion.
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/General:Cosmology

>Almalexia has appeared in the Clockwork City, and revealed all. Using the dimension traveling powers of the Mazed Band, Almalexia traveled to the Clockwork City to slay Sotha Sil and to portal the Fabricants to Mournhold. She believes the time of the Tribunal is ended, and she alone may usher Morrowind into a new era as the one savior of her people. I fear it is Almalexia who has gone mad, and not Sotha Sil.
Maybe play the game sometime.

what the fuck is going on with the revision shit im seeing in the replies here? are we playing different games? the sci-fi aspect of morrowind was always a very apparent part of its aesthetic. it was directly inspired by dune. is the retard in the thread one of those guys who believes sci-fi has to only equal star trek or something? sci-fi is a relative term with a huge aesthetic gradient. it doesnt have to look like droids and lightsabers, you know.

I've never admitted that. I guess I can see a bunch of Imperials setting up tents in Oblivion during the crisis, and city-like settlements do exist in Shivering Isles, but I'd hardly call them colonies.
>and that magic astronauts who went as far as Aetherius in their magic moth
Is it magic or is it astronautics? I wouldn't call Odahviing spacecraft and I wouldn't call Silt Striders airships either.
You're doing this thing where you try to convince me that it's fair to refer to magical or otherwise fantastical beings as "spaceships" and ask for me to agree with it, then try and do a rugpull and refer back to Sotha Sil's circuitry to justify said spaceships not being magical but instead sci-fi entities and it's getting tiring.

What thing is the most obviously science fiction from Morrowind?

I don't think you understand the term science fiction.
>>
The thing about space travel in the elder scrolls is that it's not even "space" travel. The moons are not actually all that high up and once you get up there it's like pure magicka rather than outer space.
>>
>>747504663
>I've never admitted that.
Then you're fucking stupid and objectively wrong. The Battlespire has been posted throughout the thread. It's not just a floatinggt island in the sky if that's what you assumed it was, it's in fucking Aetherius.

>Is it magic or is it astronautics?
Magic. And the moon colonies would also be magic. You seem to be convinced that I'm trying to tell you that motherfucking NASA spaceships exist in TES when I'm fucking not. The point is that in the TES universe, which is completely different from ours on a fundamental level, people travel to the equivalent of extrasolar planets, the planes of Oblivion and Aetherius, all the time, and they do so through portals or physically through magical contraptions that fill the role of spaceships. With all that in mind, how the fuck is going to the moons that big of a deal?

You drooling fucking retards don't even know how to form sentences, never mind make a point.
>>747505121
I guess you didn't understand my point. Morag Tong and many other armor sets along with the whole Morrowind aesthetic were lifted from Star Wars. The barely sci-fi parts of Star Wars.
