To be honest, I think it's healthier this way. I'm 33 and should have really grown up by now. Just got a better job. Time to make my main hobby reading I think. Save up for some time away. Only play the few most innovative or celebrated releases a year and some cool point and clicks of old. That's all you need really. Imagine how much time and money I'll save on the latest equipment for UE5 unoptimised woke slop. What's even worthwhile about this hobby these days? It just pisses you off seven times out of ten. To be honest, gaming so much was my way to avoid life and its harsh responsibility in a thousand little ways. It's probably time I cease that.

This year it was Pragmata and I'm still waiting for Ace Combat 8 and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen 2. 20 years ago, I would have easily found 15-20 new games I'd be interested in and they'd all be 8-9/10s on average.Of course I'm still playing old games, but I have a lot of free time and I'm burning through several of those every week. At this rate, I'm going to get through my backlog of around 150 games in a couple years. What then? Am I just doomed to multiplayer timesinks and digging through the hordes of mediocre slop to find a handful of indie gems or overlooked retro games?
