The first trailer for Marathon (2026), which released in May of 2023, featured a cinematic of a character running and eventually being shot. No gameplay was shown. What's more, the game was a reboot of a forgotten trilogy from the 90's that, while liked, was never particularly popular. It was so unpopular that the majority still seem to think the reboot is a new IP. Despite this, the earliest comments were loaded with people excitedly proclaiming it to be Bungie's next masterpiece. Is there a more egregious example than this of botted positivity?
The art direction was really good which is what got people hyped, it's a shame it was wasted on live service slop, yeah it was probably mostly bots too
