Did we go through some sort of time warp in the mid-90s?
>>747523816adding the 3rd dimension is really the biggest hurdle after that it's all easy sailing
>>747523816now do mgs compared to mgs4.
>>747523816No, that's how fast progress was in pretty much every sector of reality, give or take.It stopped sometime this millennium. My money is on 2012. Those Mayan bastards knew something we didn't.
>>747524046>My money is on 2012. Those Mayan bastards knew something we didn't.This. Nothing has felt right since then.
>>747523816>one of the most grueling games of its time vs babby's first 3d adventure
>>747523816The entire 1900's had constant major advancements in everything, not just video games. Just constant major improvements. Kids these days growing up playing fortnite and fortnite just don't know how exciting tomorrow was back then.
>>747524658The first decade of the 20th century wasn't that impressive compared to the rest of it. The big advancement of the 1900s was the airplane and that's about it. I believe the radio was also invented then but the 1920s is when it actually took off.
>>747524658At the same time they won't be perpetually disappointed either
>>747524841The 1900s also had Picasso's Blue Period and Einstein's Annus Mirabilis, but culturally the decade was pretty bereft. June 28, 1914 is when everything changed.
>>7475240462012 is late millennial cope. If you weren't old enough to remember the rapid and revolutionary technological advancement that occurred throughout the 1990s you basically missed the second renaissance. It was long, long over by 2012.
>>747525292No no, he's right. As soon as the clock hit 2012 it felt like there was something pure evil in the atmosphere.
>>747525292no. Things were fine until like early 2010s when the woke shit started getting spread around.
>>747525163>two well known griftersAnon...
>>747523816Yeah, and that early 3D console era was hideous. I just can't understand how kids lapped it up.At least on PC, 3D games were beautiful by 1998.
>>747523964
>>747523816Pretty much, yeah.It was a very wild time.
>>7475253982012 caused the karmic laws of narrative to break down, so the story of mankind started to become random. Before 2012, everything was authored and generally followed a trajectory that made sense.
9/11 fucked up the whole world. jews are the great filter and will ruin the world.
CPUs got faster until reaching the 3.4 GHz cap around 2005 or something.Faster clock rate lets you do a lot more than the current cope which is RAM, core count etc.
The older I get the more sure I am that something bad did happen in 2012 and it just wasnt some extremely obvious thing
>>747528140It did. This guy >>747527580 is right. Everything used to follow a trajectory which made sense, but now we're in the era of randomness. It almost feels like we're living in a reality show these days.
>>747525505I count 2007 as the year it was offically Over, with the iphone and brown 'n bloom
>>747523816>>747523926thank John Carmack and andy grove.>>747523964MG MSX or NES, vs MGS vs MGS4.
>>747528856The iPhone didn't start taking off until 2009-2011. 2007-2008 were firmly Blackberry years. Coincidentally 2012-2013 is when iPhones outsold feature phones for the first time. Another point in 2012 theory's favor.
>>747527471Shenmue looks like a 2002 game. I guess it makes sense because the Dreamcast was a 6th gen console.
>>747529026Here the madman fell silent and looked again at his listeners;and they, too, were silent and stared at him in astonishment. At last he threw his lantern on the ground, and it broke into pieces and went out."I have come too early," he said then; "my time is not yet. This tremendous event is still on its way, still wandering;it has not yet reached the ears of men.Lightning and thunder require time;the light of the stars requires time;deeds, though done, still require time to be seen and heard. This deed is still more distant from them than most distant stars -and yet they have done it themselves.when something is over, it's over before you notice, and you may walk around thinking things aren't over, but they really are.
>>747527471For me, it was the difference between StarFox SNES and StarFox 64. I remember being dumbfounded on the demo unit in a sears thinking how far we'd come in like 3 years.
>>747528856yeah alot of people forgot that 2007 while also the iphone launch was, for the purposes of this board, also the time publishers threw their audiences under the bus to chase casuals and wider audiences by raping every IP anyone ever cared about into the dust.
This is the first time graphics are actively getting worse. No PS5 game looks as good as Witcher III and RDR 2. Even GTA VI looks like RDR 2 in current day Miami.
>>747525398it's schizo shit but i was just thinking earlier how nature itself feels different. like there's just something in the air now, not physical pollution or microplastics or 5G waves, but some sort of unseen grit, or maybe a kind of ethereal stickiness. i have no idea how to describe it, most of my reading is not flowery enough to expand my vocabulary to the necessary level, but it makes me feel uncomfortable and a little annoyed.for reference i've lived in the same place on the same plot of land for over 30 years and reached adulthood long ago, watching the sun set over the same hills (for the 6 months where it sets far enough west to see anyway), largely untouched and still able to disconnect entirely from civilization. and i'm pretty sure it's not just nostalgia. something has just been 'off' for years now and a lot of people are too caught up in the electronic hustle and bustle to ever notice. they aren't like. in tune enough with their inner selves, or their OUTER selves, or something.this sounds like retarded stoner talk but i swear it isn't, i was a good boy who went to DARE and never had any friends who i'd even have gotten into drugs from.
>>7475293972007 was a really fucking good year for vidya though. I know some people think CoD4 set a bad precedent but it was a good game by itself. It was just hurt by the fact that the other MW games sucked.
>>747524046>It stopped sometime this millennium. My money is on 2012. Those Mayan bastards knew something we didn't.Funny enough, 2012 lines up with the cost per transistor flatlining at around the 22nm mark.

>>747529539Nigger this image proves my point, all of these are more casual than the games that preceeded them with like Crysis being the sole exception
>>747529871Super Mario Galaxy is a masterpiece.
>>7475275126th gen was truly a magical time, where games really just aren't beep boop beep boop anymore and looked like a portal to another world
>>747529675>/x/i'm sure there's a lot of garbage yeah but what the heck, i'll read em anyway. it's been fucking me up because i'm an autistic sort of unimaginative, uncreative sort whose idea of fun is that ms paint comic where the german guy comes home from the widget factory to play Widget Factory Simulator. i shouldn't even be thinking about this type of thing yet here i am sitting watching the rain hit the window and going "why does it feel wrong, nothing has physically changed and i have photographic, audible, and sensory proof that it hasn't (thanks nikon!), but everything somehow *feels* like the original writers left and we're in the crappy 6:30-slot seasons"
>>747523816wolfenstein 3d was 1992, doom was 1993 so no we did not go through a time warp
