Why does nobody have any issues with Nanako being manipulated at a young age for rampart consumerism and brand loyalty to big box chains? What’s even more worrying is the schools seem to encourage this behavior when she states, “she’s the best in class,” for singing the Junes jingle. Someone really has to have a talk with her about how soulless corporations are not her friend and she should not be actively singing about them. Especially since she is living in a small town and Junes is stealing money from all the small businesses in area creating a codependency on the store.
Actually a good post, but I guess the game just wasn't interested in addressing that part about Nanako and the presence of Junes in Inaba. It's a Persona game, they could say something direct about it but I guess it's one of the blind spots of the game/writing or at least something that deserves some criticism.
everyday's great at your jun-ess

>>747534030It reflects the sad state of reality. I used to love seeing the Geico Gecko when I was like pre-grade-school.
>>747534269It is addressed slightly with how Yosuke feels ostracized at school because his dad is a manager at Junes
>>747534491Huh, I didn't remember that.
The message of the game isn't complete capitalism rejection like twitter troons wish it was. The fucking end of the game is the town coming together to make their own shit that they can then supply to Junes to revitalize their economy. They understand that the only way for their community to survive is via a symbiotic relationship.

>>747534030Junes owns that town so Nanako is seen as ahead of the curve for being good cattle already.
>>747534762>TFW Nanako is the same age as me and is the closest character to my generation as she was born as an 04 zoomer

Read John Taylor Gatto. That's the entire point of the government school system.

She's a child, dumbass. Being proficient at singing English jingles is absolutely something young Jap kids would compete with each other over. And the game has no problem showing you what Junes is doing to the town, and what working there is really like. You're expected to see that she's just a kid, you're just not capable of doing that because the media you zoomzooms grew up with is blatantly preachy.
>>747534030Girls love shopping with or without jingles to sing. It's in their genes.
>>747534030I'm afraid your gamer license has been revoked because of your lack of MEDIA LITERACY.
>>747534269The big box chain coming in and putting main street out of business is a major part of the game's setting.
>>747534030The game does address this, her entire arc is about how she's lonely at home and relying on tv to ignore that. The scooby gang coming over all the time because of their connection to Chad Thundercock is what breaks the obsession and turns it into just a song she likes IE community is what breaks her from that mold.
