>Willits also claims Space Marine 2 cost about a third as much as a recent major game from a big North American studio, while selling 11 million more copies.
>“You don’t need to spend $150 million to make a billion.”
These days, American game companies always spend the most money to produce the worst games.
Sometimes, their efficiency and quality in game development are even worse than India’s.
At least in India, they’re cheap but the quality is poor; in the U.S., not only are they expensive, but the quality is also poor.

>The company was acquired by the Swedish holding firm Embracer Group in 2020.

Take a look at the credits, there isn't a single outsourced Jeetmill in the entire credit roll. The problem is that offshoring bloats development costs and companies keep falling for the scam. Go and check any of the other successes from the past few years and it doesn't matter where they're based out of whether it's these guys, Arrowhead with HD2, Larian with BG3, whatever; NONE of them outsourced their projects. That's how it was for a very long time and that's why you could still have American or British or Canadian triple-A stuff in the 7th gen being released in a third of the time at a tenth of the cost of today. Letting barely-audited third world contractors get access to corporate money will drag a project straight to development hell.
>>
>>747537702
>Why is game development so expensive in the United States?
Because the cost of living is more expensive in America than it is in other countries. If there were more social safety nets and cheaper/free housing then development would be less expensive

The real answer? It is due to socialist movements that introduced numerous socialist practices to America that are incompatible with free-market competitiveness, such as labor unions and workers' rights protections. This hinders the development and optimization of production, making American labor extremely expensive.
>>
>>747541029
>60% increase in taxes
that's happening under the current system because of tariffs. Not only is housing, gas, electricity, and consumer electronics more expensive, taxpayer money is invested in idiotic vanity projects like ai data centers, flock cameras, and ballrooms

Your argument would have flown perfectly in 2014, but not anymore.

Foreigners pay for them. We cuckold them out of their money.

Nowhere is it that high. Even in "we want communism" New York. And if you live in somewhere that isn't one of the major liberal cities, taxes and costs are way lower.

Gas prices have actually gone down since the Biden administration, despite how much the media wants to gaslight you and say they've gone up. Remember we had like $5 gas under Biden and now it's $3.75. Food is similar. Yes, both didn't go down as much as the Republicans promised. But they did go down.

But don't let facts get in the way of the media narrative.
>>
>>747541029
Yes, good goy. Now tell him how taxes aren't meant to better your community but are actually meant to fund overseas wars for foreign interests.
>>
>>747540554
That's not the reason why the US is expensive. The US quite literally foots the bill for most nations by being the the nation they can sell to and base their currency to keep them afloat. See: Pharmaceutical companies overcharging US to subsidize cheaper prices globally. The US NEEDS to be the world's sucker because otherwise shit doesn't flow.
>>
>>747541527
no you don't, it's a tax applied to the consumer so that they would be disincentivized to buy goods from that country. that's why videogame consoles are extremely expensive in comparison last gen.

>>747541760
gas is waaay higher under trump, you're seriously deluded lmfao. we have $8+ dollar gas under trump because he's a dumbass who wanted to start a pointless war with iran. he's a moron who bankrupted more than 3 casinos for crying out loud, he does not have any business and economic foresight at all

This. Rent, food, healthcare, just about everything that isn't gasoline (which is heavily subsidized) and garbage made in China is incredibly expensive here

I don't defend that stuff either. And both sides started and voted for foreign wars. This is why I don't support either political party. Despite people thinking "if you don't support the status quo, you must be a Trump fanatic!"
>>747541973
>we have $8+ dollar gas under trump
It's $3.50 in my area. And even in the highest tax states like California and New York, it's only $6.00 right now. If you have to make shit up to make your point, then you have no point.
>>
>>747538468
You must be behind the curb friend. Arrowhead as it turns out has been outsourcing the vast majority of their HD2 content since late 2024.
>>
>>747537702
Because US is a failed state and people are afraid to admit it. Starting with Reagan the country was literally killing itself at a rapid pace. It's actually amazing how they managed to bring a country and economy as monumental as US to its current state
>>
>>747541973
>no you don't, it's a tax applied to the consumer so that they would be disincentivized to buy goods from that country.
Learn how tarriffs work. Don't just take MSNBCs words at face value. Tarriffs can impact the consumer. But only if the company selling the product decides to do it. And you can choose not to buy their product if they do. It's not this magic thing where Trump takes money from your taxes and applies it to the product.

He's talking about diesel you knuckledragger
>>
>>747542193
No anon, I'm talking in a CONSUMER and PRODUCER level. You have to sell to the US to make any profit. You think the video game industry itself can survive if Americans actually just stop buying games? No, it's propped up by American consumers like most commodities. Your average American citizen is the last bucket of where the world relies to kick down to get theirs.
>>
>>747537702
Most big game dev companies are based in California which needs big wages to account for Cali's ridiculous cost of living expenses.
>>
>>747542671
>gets proven wrong with a basic google search
>o-obviously I meant diesel!
>even though every media scare report is talking about regular unleaded prices
And even then, Diesel is around $6.00 according to goggle. Also, you really shouldn't bring up diesel because it shot up under Biden.
"Joe Biden (2022): The national average for diesel first surged to a record high of $5.82 per gallon in June 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which severely disrupted international energy and oil markets."
>>
>>747541527
Holy shit, these people actually exist.
>>
>>747537702
It's not that it's more expensive, it's that westerners aren't buying their garbage. They're all buying tiddie gachas and shit because they're tired of woke trash or games otherwise not targetting them. A game being made in the west, which is generally higher quality under the hood, has its expenses offset by western sales - when done correctly. The reason the books aren't balancing is because the west took its ball and went home.
>>
It's sad how many people just eat the media's misinformation up and regurgitate it with total confidence. But then these are the same people who buy every new AAA game based on marketing hype. Then get mad when it isn't good.

>your taxes are now 60% of your income and food/gas costs also goes up
How the fuck is this any different from "60% of your income goes to taxes and paying for shit that is already covered by the taxes citizens in other nations pay for"? 60% is 60%, it doesn't matter if it's all getting ripped out of your ass by the government or if it's being done by the government AND private companies.
>>
>>747548397
Because if you actually manage your money well, you're not going to get up to 60%. Unless you're a billionaire, you tax rate should be 15-32%. Then the rest of your money goes to your choice of stuff. If you chose to take out an expensive car lease, smartphone plan and all that, then yeah you're paying to a company. But you don't have to. In all these "dream" socialist countries, they take 60% of your money in taxes and put it into their services. Even if you don't use them.

I wish schools still taught basic economics...
>>
>>747537702
Because america is collapsing like the Soviet Union did. Everything is too expensive compared to damn near anywhere else in the world, the government is all crooks breaking it down and selling it for parts before they get out with their bag and the people have been brainrotted to worship corporate entities as minor deities and given them more rights than people.

This comes together to form a specific pre collapse dystopia where its simply cheaper and safer to work anywhere else and with lack of stress comes better product.

It is. Weirdly enough however, stuff is generally a lot cheaper in Sweden. When I visited Texas I'd spend roughly 2x to get groceries. They had around ~7% tax rate.
I also needed to get a taxi because you cant get to shops on foot/public transit, but lets not get into that
>>
>>747541217
workers' right protection would protect you from the third panel
this would be illegal and the former workers can sue the company
>>
>>747549003
Probably a lot of stuff is subsidized. But what people don't realize is that's also coming out of your own tax money. You're paying for it one way or another.
>>
>>747549160
And a lot of people dont realize you can just look stuff up. Sweden spends about 400$ per person in farming subsidies annually. US spends 150$. Sure, the extra 250$ comes out of my pocket, but if it cuts down food costs by half I'm saving thousands annually.

Russians are a mix of vikings, roma, slavs and steppe people. Literally the mongrel mixed race of Europe before America existed.
>>

Nah I can see it happening. Not everywhere is spending the same in regards to cost of living, and products aren't universally priced. In Texas he's spending in USD, which is probably a pretty penny when converted to Krone since a single Swedish Krone is only 10 cents.

It's literally happening in the UK and US. The union sues, wins the lawsuit, but then just gets cut a check. The workers are still replaced and the company loses 0.0001% of their annual income. And the union leaders magically get rich while the rest of the workers get screwed.
>>
>>747537702
The american education system is a bolshevik scam. They taught you wrong as a joke. Now they sit back and laugh, knowing they will rest easy in the jewish support nets they have built since the 1940's while you languish and die. Those that remain will be at the absolute mercy of the state to feed themselves because they won't even know how to read let alone quarter a chicken or deer. Your women will be preserved, to create a mixed race slave caste just intelligent enough to keep the machines running but not enough to question the status quo. This is the future you created with your inaction and you fully deserve it. And the worst part is you'll all suffer and die, too fucking stupid to ever realize why this is happening to you or what you did wrong.
