>>747544780They've been for over a decade now, but long time ago some games actually had low print runs so there was a chance you simply wouldn't be able to buy them physically. Gaming was also smaller so not every store would get copies of every release. For example, Suikoden 2 was estimated to have only 30-40k copies printed for NA as a whole which lead to its scarcity and jacked up prices.
