Project Tamriel update is OUT
>>
>>747560673
What's this? Just more Anvil?
>>
>>747560842
Adds a stronghold to build, but mainly it's just tweaks and improvements for cyrodiil and skyrim
>>
>>747560673
If this was 20 years ago I am sure most gaming publications would have been all over this.

It isn't so buy a fucking ad you freeloader.

>>747560673
Map?
>>
>>747560842
Wait this shit is not just mainland morrowind? they take you all across tamriel?
i assume it's multiple teams under the same umbrella? can you even walk from telvanni territory to cyrodil?
>>
>>747561845
I believe that there is some coordination and importantly asset sharing, but for the most part it is separate teams. I doubt that you can just walk across the continent because it takes a long time to make shit with volunteers only.
>>
>>747562623
So would all the cities be their own separate entity, kind of like Mournhold?
>>
>>747561662
Blow your head off, the board is infested by subhumans making coom threads and you're bothering people here? Say that after the mods have made a gatcha containment board
>>
TAMRUGH
>>
>>747563105
No. everything is on the same world space as the vanilla game. It's just there's nothing connector the Anvil area to Morrowind since the Cyrodiil mod began in the west.
>>
>Go to guild
>Activate a bed to see if I can sleep in it
>Your crime has been reported
>You have been expelled from the mage's guild
Nice game niggers
>>
>>747563105
I don't think so. More like pockets of overworld spaces with some cities in them but either surrounded with big sea tiles that would not normally be there or incomplete barren terrain. If you play TR and go near a region of Morrowind which has not been released yet you will see what I mean.
>>
>>747561845
The pipe dream is that if all these projects get far enough you will be able to physically travel between all the provinces on foot, so that one day you'd be able to go from Seyda Neen to Anvil without using any form of fast travel.
Right now though, while they're technically all in the same overworld, there is no land connecting them. Theoretically if you stack enough levitation and speed buffs I guess you technically could fly across the vast stretch of nothing that separates the regions but realistically you'll have to travel by boat or teleportation.

How woke is it

i rolled a char on oblivion last night but i’ll probably play this instead.

Is there actual content in these new map sections? Like dialogue, lore to explore, creatures to fight? Did they add anything to make the world feel more alive?

My biggest problem of why i keep dropping morrowind is the world is so static. it feels like world is frozen in time and lm the only one that can move and interact with things
>>
>>747571198
Morrowind and Starfield both have the player as the center of the universe.

A day lasts 7458 hours on a planet in Starfield and you won't have to worry about the merchant moving away from his spot. Same with Morrowind. I hope they continue this trend with TES 6. Fuck your immersion if it is going to cause me any inconvienence.

I am glad they are going back to their roots. It is all about me.
>>
>>747571198
There is an assload of content, but it's all made according to design principles derived from the vanilla game. if you don't like vanilla, you probably won't like TR.
>>
>>747571065
I mean again I wouldn't know whether it's unique. I like the greys in the first picture better. Hay is for horses
>>

>My biggest problem of why i keep dropping morrowind is the world is so static. it feels like world is frozen in time and lm the only one that can move and interact with things
In other words, literally every other RPG in the world except Skyrim and Oblivion. There's nothing wrong with a static world in an RPG, you're just fixated on the random crap that Bethesda puts too much emphasis on.

I just hate feeling like i’m the main character. i like feeling like a weak homeless wretch with amnesia who just woke up from a drug bender and is watching this new strange world go by. Where nobody cares about me, nobody thinks i’m special, and i can just exist without obligation of saving the world and i can slowly claw my way up from nothing.
>>
>>747572719
Morrowind and Starfield have the player as the only thing that matters.
The world/universe is literally waiting for you.

They took the "Nothing happens without a hero" philosophy to the extreme.

>>
>>747572268
That's the problem. Whether NPCs are “alive” is a minor background detail that's completely unnecessary for an RPG. There's nothing to enjoy about it.
>>747572432
The only games I can recall that are like this are Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 4, Gothic, and Kingdom Come.
>>747572719
Morrowind isn't for you. Skyrim and Oblivion have so little context for what's happening that you can literally LARP as anything you want. Morrowind is closer to a real RPG.
>>747572904
Skyrim and Oblivion are exactly the same. NPCs will wait for you indefinitely as part of a quest and can't die or anything like that. It's not like Stalker where NPCs in quests can actually die while you're away or something like that. The worst thing that can happen is that an NPC gets stuck somewhere and completely breaks the quest.

In Skyrim and Oblivion npcs have their own schedules. Stores close so they can go home and eat.
The world continues to move whether you are there or not. You are not the center of everyones existence like Morrowind and Starfield.

I personally prefer the vast majority of NPCs existing only to serve me. Anon is not a fan of that.
Hence Morrowind and Starfield are probably not games I would recomend to him.

there can be subcategories within game
genres. just like red apples can be sweet and green apples can be bitter.

RPGs can be story driven railroads like final fantasy. Or RPGs can be openworld like oblivion.

The gate doesnt need to be so tight, there’s plenty of room for all RPGs, so you can stop guarding it. Neither is subcategory is worse or better than the other.

i’m still going to try it out though despite everyone saying it’s not for me. theyre right but i’m stubborn
>>
>>747563552
>while they're technically all in the same overworld, there is no land connecting them
Which begs the question, can the engine support a separate overworld?
Like, for example, let's pretend that they want to make a large portion of a plane of oblivion: are they restricted to interior cells (like it was done for the Tribunal expansion) or is it possible to create separate exterior cells(not part of the same "map")?
>>
>>747574368
Never said I wasn't.
I said I am not the center of everyones existence in Skyrim/Oblivion the way I am in Morrowind/Starfield. In the latter two games they will wait in the same spot for eternity.

Look at Morrowinds Fargoth quest. It was the only mechanically interesting quest in the whole game because Fargoth wasn't a statue.

Well... If you had a reason to sleep and have a sensible schedule (delve into dungeons during the day > get tired > sleep > repeat) you wouldn't have problems always finding the NPC services that you need.

I don't mind a simple minigame, like changing your picks in Thief, but I do agree that doing it like in Skyrim/Oblivion is a downgrade.

That's true. But I don't think Oblivion and Skyrim even come close to being better. I always think back to NV and Silver Rush where you just drag all the items into the bathroom and steal them. The thieving and stealth gameplay in those games just isn't good. Stealth in Fallout 4 is kind of fun because you have multi-level branching locations but even it is way too broken.

My solution would be the opposite: make the player character tired (attributes and skills to modify how often) so it's in your interest to rest. And a longer day, time passes too fast in TES.
Then instead of being slightly annoyed that you can't force your 100 rusted iron sword in the NPC trade interface, you will decide to check out for the day and come back the following morning.

It's just more busy work. If you've played Kingdom Come, you know that this kind of thing is interesting at first, but as you get closer to the middle of the game, when you want to play the actual game, it just gets annoying. I can't play unless I have hardcore enabled + jsawyer mod. It adds too much to the game and without it I feel like something is missing.
>but then you just give up on that crap and live off Nuka-Cola and cocktails instead of sleeping
That's up to you, I never felt like the game forced me to drink cocktails instead of using a bed. Never played F4's idea of "survival mode" so I can't comment on that one.

Again, it's clearly a preference but I do believe that in open world sandbox games NPC schedules add more to the game than what they cost.

I'll agree that it's a matter of personal preference, and most people find it annoying. It's fine to keep it as an optional challenge mode like in Fallout, but forcing this crap on everyone is just stupid. Even most survival games don't overwhelm people with crap like that. Most of it adds absolutely nothing to the gameplay.

As I said, most games don't overload players with that kind of crap. Minecraft, the most popular survival game, has a straightforward survival element in the form of food, which is directly linked to health and regeneration.
To some extent, it's closer to the standard Bethesda games with their “food = healing” mechanic than all those hardcore modes and mods that add a hunger meter, sleep, and other crap. It doesn't really work in Bethesda games because they're dumb, but New Vegas built on their engine plays well in both normal and hardcore modes. Even without the thirst and hunger meters, food and water feel like useful consumables rather than literal junk as they do in Skyrim.

Honestly walking between High Rock, Skyrim, Hammerfell, and Cyrodiil is very realistically going to happen, pretty much all the WIP areas are only separated from each other by one or two more releases (either Elinhir or Falkreath + Sancre Tor.) There's no way in hell Skyrim or Cyrodiil will get there first because TR is faster and further along than both, already has all the exterior work done on the Hlaalu half of the border, and exterior work has begun on the Redoran half of the border with Skyrim and Cyrodiil. What I mean is when the Skyrim/Cyrodiil side of the border touches Morrowind so you can walk between provinces. I mean, depending on how the cells are divided up, a corner of one cell might end up TECHNICALLY being in Skyrim or Cyrodiil, but that's not really what people want, what people want isn't going to happen until a Windhelm, Riften or Cheydinhal release which is far, far away.

I believe the logic is that Heldon in the Song of Pelinal books is said to be within the territory of the "Men-of-'Kreath", who could feasibly be the namesake of Falkreath, which would make sense because Falkreath is supposed to have been a Colovian Kingdom rather a part of Skyrim for most of its history

Its the final stronghold Pelinal takes in Nibenay before attacking west to take whitegold tower.
Saying its in the land of Kreath is also a misreading, as the book says it was attacked "after" the northern land had been consolidated and Alessia calls upon the Nords to aid her in attacking it which is something she obviously would not have had to do if it was in the Nord's own homeland.

They're not gonna be done with morrowind for at least like 13 more years, if that. When they are it's going to be up to individual devs what they want to do, some will quit entirely and some will scatter to other provinces. Cyrodiil and Black Marsh are the ones with the most cross-Morrowind dev interest currently.
>>
>>747586161
Eh, it could go either way. Falkreath was always full of Nords, it's just a question of whether those Nords identify as Colovian or not, which is a cultural thing. It's kind of a transitional zone between Colovian (Cyro-Nords) and Skyrim proper (Nordy Nord Nords.)

>The reach
Why are all these giant mods so obsessed with making donut steel locations? If is Morrowind they fill everything with oc races and do desert locations. If is Tamriel they do anvil to fill it with redguards and Bretons. If the do Skyrim they do the reach to fill it with reachmen and Bretons. Isn't the point of this playing in a Nord province?
>>
>>747586705
Reachmen come from the PGE1, which is tippy top canon with Morrowind and Redguard for the mod. Anyway SHOTN focusing on the Reachmen instead of Nords has been a consistent complaint which really won't be solved with the next two releases. Markarth Side is still The Reach, and none of the factions or plot are about Nords, but instead about Imperials and Reachmen. Snowhawk is going to be the same, only their Reachmen are slightly culturally different.
>>
>>747581098
The mods on /v/ are notoriously terrible. Of you're getting banned is because you're incredible obnoxious and bad faith. No anon here says mods are perfect but you have a Vendetta with it for some reason.
>>
>>747586705
Because the PGE1 says that the Reach is the most cosmopolitan part of Skyrim and also inhabited by its own indigenous race known as the Reachmen
>>
>>747577982
That's nice, but it's still a bit of an accessibility issue for people who, unlike you, aren't psychic
>>
>>747586903
Markarth will add a proper kingdom of the reach questline
>>
>>747586994
Which will be about playing nice with The Reachmen and have nothing to do with local Nord culture or history. Also all the faction questlines will just be the Imperial Guilds focused on Imperials and dealing with Reachmen, and also there's going to be a Reachman rebel faction. Zero Nord content.
>>
>>747586903
I didn't say the special OC races don't exist in the lore, I'm asking why are they filling every mod with them and the province that gets made first is always an oc location to fill it with even more weird shit? Is the concept of doing a classic Nord city alien to these people? You're forever condemned to play other races in their native provinces? I wonder if they're doing the same to the High Rock and you're going to play in another "high rock but not actually high rock"

>>
>>747587412

>>
>>747586161
Falkreath was always Nord land, it was just at one point part of the Colovian Estates.
Read the First Pocket Guide.
During the very early Alessian periods the Nords are the dominant factor, they conquer eastern Cyrodiil and then go on to establish what would become the Colovian kingdoms in West Cyrodiil.

I have grown to like Hlaalu a lot more over time. They make the most sense for an adventuring character.
Redoran pays you with a pat on your back (careful, sometimes it might be a dagger) and you have to live like a scavenger or thief.
Telvanni are in the bumfuck region of Vvardenfell, they don't possess any special magic that you couldn't get from the Mages Guild and their nice rewards are counterbalanced by the utter morons you have to deal with.

I've been using it for a week or so. You still need to get sneak to around 50 for it to be useful. But at least you don't have to second guess whether you are seen or not. The one frustrating bit is that pickpocketing is still a reload fest since it won't display any chance to steal odds.

sneaking around everywhere while in cities is probably the best way to do it. from what i understand, the way sneak leveling works is, if you successfully get past an NPC's sneak range without getting detected, you get closer to level up, so cities are good for it due to all NPCs in one place. of course, you should probably have sneak as a toggle on your morrowind code patch/OpenMW

a spaceship by any other name would fly as sound (hello, shakespeare??)
my problem with the space stuff is that it clearly isnt depicted anywhere in any of the games with any sort of commonness, its spice doesn't really flavor the soup to to speak
much less spelljammer where the spaceships are foundational to the world and it is extremely evident that the world is sci-fi bent
and more expedition to the barrier peaks where sci fi pops up like an aberrant appendage in a fantasy world

I mean I get it. Old Kemel-Ze is somehow a dwemer ruin 40 times larger than any other dwemer ruin with tons of hallways and areas that go absolutely nowhere and is so absurdly massive it's almost comical. That works for Sotha Sil, less so for this, and it doesn't quite belong in the rest of the mod. Even in the edition that it was released in it stood out oddly.

But I'll mourn stuff like that automated smelting machine the size of Ald-Skar.

airships are well in the range of fantasy
some might argue theyre brushing at the edges of the genre
but the one depicted in bloodmoon is squarely on the fantasical side and not the sci-fi side of ships. it wasnt flying through the phlogiston and it wasnt floating in the void
it was just a junky piece of dwemer tech that broke down
there are a number of airship-using countries depicted in the pages of dragon magazine for old d&d settings like mystara if you want slightly more specific examples

Lockpicking takes a lot of finger strength, I'll have you know. And all that crouching really builds up your calves.

I remember you posting stuff from old quest mods, it's funny how modders back then didn't care that much about being lore friendly. I remember at end of the Illuminated Order the faction leader revealed he was a time traveler from England or something

I was thinking about the Horror mod where it tried to make it lore friendly but then didn't understand the lore and made it even worse.

I just noticed the argonian blood magic thing somebody mentioned a couple threads ago and now i can't tell if it was TR/PTTamriel Data itself or the TD races unlock mod that added it

>>
>>747613779
Yeah i thought that would be the case
On one hand it's pretty cool, on the other it doesn't make much sense as a racial ability, whenever it becomes possible to do they should make something you learn from some Argonian NPC instead
>>
>>747614675
Well none of these races were meant to be played (yet).
The unlock mod is just someone tagging them as playable
>>
>>747614726
It also gives the blood magic power to regular Argonians, it's not just a Naga thing

The rest of it was pretty standard early Morrowind quest mod. Overly large dungeons with not much in it, kind of basic, etc.

Argonian what now?
>>
>>747613673 (me)
After trying it out, it's kinda jank, i assume it was gonna make it so you entirely use HP instead of magicka to cast spells but it consumes a little bit of both instead, so it's kinda magic except objectively worse lol

>>747615026
Pretty sure there's only one. I'm using the most recent version, maybe that's the problem

>>747615048
Argonian NPCs in the base game claim to have blood magic running through their veins when you ask them the "Argonian" generic dialogue topic. Nobody knows what the fuck that's supposed to mean since it's never elaborated upon in any way and ESO made it so "blood magic" is some unrelated vampire thing
>>
>>747615609
there's like 5
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/51992 I use this one, don't have the problem you do.
>>
>>747615609
I don't ever remember them mentioning that!

>and ESO made it so "blood magic" is some unrelated vampire thing
Well I guess they mention it... even if it lame.
>>
>>747615667
Oh yeah, didn't know that. I'm using the "official" one that's made by a PT dev. Can you actually use blood magic as the Naga in your version though though? Pretty sure it's not normally a power for them either

>>747614784
Yeah true, also funny asset usage because there were less custom assets back then (this is from Oluhan)
>>
>>747615821
Naga's not an option in this one (probably because of how jank blood magic is)
>>
>>747615739
>We are the People of the Root, called 'Argonians' by the warmbloods. We go where we will, wet or dry, ****and the currents of blood magic run swift in our veins****. In our native land, we hunt to live, masters of the marshes. Hunted and enslaved by softskinned enemies, we snare and slay them by stealth, spell, and steel.
If you asked a TES dev in the modern day they'd probably tell you that's just what the Argonians call the power of the Hist or whatever. One does wonder what the fuck the original writer meant though
>>
>>747615667

>>

>>

Probably not, but at least every race works.

The problem with Cast When Used items is that you will never use most of them.
You got things like the Amulet of Shadows or the Dwemer Boots of Flying/Wizard Staff that are so useful you will use them, but the rest? It's a joke. You will have an easier time just fighting or drinking potions.
Not going to lie though, Vampiric Ring and Eleidon's Ward's aren't that bad though, 20/30 Health/Stamina Absorb and 50/100 HP recovery respectively, now that's actually worthwhile, the rest can go fuck themselves with their shitty enchantment and charges.

Basically, if you feel the need to test, play another race or realize you didn't an oopsie, you can redo, without losing stats. With this mod installed,
>https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/53710
You go back to level 1. Very sad.
Well, it's not that problematic, it's more of a convenience thing.

I like seeing Morrowind, I like talking about it, I like shopping for mods for it.

I hate playing it.

I have thousands of hours in it but every playthrough ends at less than 8. I've never finished the main quest EVER. It's just so boring.

This isn't some zoomer tiktok brain thing either, I've completed every Dark Souls game dozens of timed and every run is a 100% run and I never have trouble with it.

Morrowind is just dreadful to actually play. There's just no mods that can fix it, and even if you mod the pissfuck out of it there's gonna be incompatibilities and bugs and jank that drag the experience down.
