I think they're obviously trying to go for some "classic but modernized" UI like OSRS has been doing, which is whatever, because at least people will inevitably make addons to restore the classic elements (unit frames, cast bars, etc.), so that will be an option for the people that hate it....but the blue elves, man. This shit actually sucks, and they're practically locked in at this point because they're tied to all the preorder shit. It's actually over

It's not that hard to keep the content treadmill going with horizontal prog, it's just on paper harder to do than resetting and reusing the same prog methods of vertical prog. The trick is to just add more ways through rewards for players to play their characters and express themselves. You can accomplish this with wise itemization, for example reworking legendaries to operate more like exotics in a game like Destiny where they are incredibly powerful build defining items, often with truly transformative effects but limiting how many a player may have equipped so their choices in gear become important build crafting decisions like your talent tree investments. Or just flat out adding new classes that haven't existed before, which is a lot easier to do when you don't have to rebalance every other existing class and spec with the newest arbitrary level cap increases.At the end of the day, it's a different product. For the people who don't like more sandbox oriented horizontal play experiences they can just play retail WoW, it even shares the same subscription fee.
