So, gender, religion, predominant ideology, etc. A person might say Star Trek was always woke because it had a diverse crew, but they'd be failing to understand the reason why the crew was diverse. They think it's because the federation considers it a virtue, when in reality the point was that nobody cared about race at all in this version of the future.
