I genuinely think the normies and fatties of /v/ don't even realize how fucking cool the VR community is right now...New VR games, dozens and dozens of VR mods for 2D classics including motion controls in many cases, movie watching in projected 150inch+ screen with the milky way or Tatoine's sunset in the background, 3D movies like Avatar looking better than the cinema due to no polarised lenses, social VR experiences with VRChat and hundreds of amazing worlds, kayaking, boxing, porn, flying through the world in VR, exploring the depths of the ocean, painting, museums and documentaries, multi monitor setups, super light and comfortable headsets releasing this year and the coming one (Dream Air, Steam Frame, Pico Swan, Meta Phoenix etc) with 4K resolutionsLike seriously wtf are you people even doing? Playing another Ubislop or Soullike? xd
>>747564065>how fucking cool the VR community is right nowA few mods and games are fun I'm sure. I haven't heard anything good about the Community.Mostly complaints of degenerates in VRchat and screeching children everywhere else
>>747564065And yet you're still here posting on 4chan instead of doing any of that.
>>747564262There's enough flat2vr conversion mods on top of all the dedicated sim stuff now that you could spend 10hrs a day playing games and never having to interact with VRC trannies or childrens.Especially for conversion mods, there's a ton of passionate and smart people working on all of this (for fucking free). It feels like old forums in the 90s and early 2000s before the brown menace invaded desu.
Is there a good guide to getting 3D movies working on the Quest 3? I downloaded the 3D version of Tron Legacy, but it is just a bluray rip that plays in 2D. So I’m confused.
>>747564262I wouldn't have graced this borderline shill bait of an OP with a reply, but since we're here...I'm still wondering what the occulus would have become had Meta not spread its tendrils to it.
>>747564262>degenerates of VRchatVery true, but if you joined 8 years ago and were intentional about the friends you made it is an incredible place. Tupper for instance is "community" to most who play, but he has consistently been a borderline ass anytime I've crossed paths with him.

The only 2 games worth playing in VR are Half-Life Alyx and Beat Saber and they came out over 5 years ago.
>>747566403dream is said to be better than all the former pimaxes.fuck I should have bought that 260eur psvr2 or used q3. VR havent got any better unless you got a 10k pc and a 2,5k hmd.

>>747566679On the plus side, you have superior genes. Motion sickness occurrs when your eye and inner ear send conflicting signals to your brain. It's to make you be sick if you have something poisonous. 40-70% of people get motion sickness, and in some applications that number approaches nearly 99%.
>>747566679practice and decent headset said to solve that issue but who knows maybe your inner ear and faceshape is all fucked.
>>747566829Na, pancake games don't make good VR games. I bet you think Skyrim is a good VR game as well LMAO
>>747566679If you ever got over car motion sickness then you can get over vr motion sickness
>>747566848that sounds pretty useless in the modern day
>>747564065Wearing a machine on your head is always going to be a problem and it's not worth doing something in VR unless the product itself was made for VR. There's so much great porn out there and none of it is made for VR, so watching it in VR just means gluing my phone to my face. Cool that I don't need to hold my phone, but I have to hold a fucking oven on my head, why would I do that? And there's only a handful of good games out there, how many are made for VR? Basically none of them. Whenever someone tries to show me VR games, it's always just proof-of-concept thing. Call me when you actually have good games made for VR.
>>747566924Crazy thing is I have never gotten car sickness.
>>747566679that blows. i have a friend who is the same. he can't handle carnival rides either.I played vr when the vive was new and jumped right in to high-intensity no-safeties stuff after everyone else 'played' normieshit like the plank thing or that 5 min star wars scene. was real disoriented for 20 mins and then it passed.last year i got my own VR and maybe once every 5 or 6 times i'll push it too far and get a little messed up, most recently i was zipping around Perfect Dark and spun just right in-game while adjusting my feet IRL and nearly fell over
>>747566912they make stunning VR games and you're delusional for thinking otherwise.and why would i think a bad game is good in VR?

Though to be honest the first time I got my headset it took me a good 10days of playing 4-5hrs a day to get used to the motion sickness.
>>747566940>it's not worth doing something in VR unless the product itself was made for VRthe VR mod for a non VR game is a product made for VR though

>>747567176>they make stunning VR games and you're delusional for thinking otherwise. No they don't. It's just the same shit with worse controls.
>>747567037>>747567247>>747567362car sickness and VR sickness are kinda the opposite thing:VR sickness is your eyes seeing motion but your inner ear not feeling itcar sickness is your eyes not seeing motion but your inner ear is feeling ityes it's a mismatch in both cases but for opposite reasons

>>747566679its your brain getting confused by conflicting signals sent by your eyes and ears. but contrary to popular belief your brain is adaptable. if you are serious about getting into VR I recommend download Aircar on steam. Its completely free and runs on every potato. Fly around little by little taking breaks when feeling bad, but continue until the sickness goes away (your brain figures out which signals to ignore)
>>747564065Playing single player conversion mods is my main vidya thing atm. Shit's great but I also adopted early and witnessed the 10 year no gaems drought. Can't easily recommend it to other since it is a hefty investment on the hardware side and prices are bad while you can get okay hmds pretty cheap.
>>747567176ignore it. its another elitist fag that thinks vr=6dof and if a game ain't built around motion control it ain't vr. Most of the magic comes from being inside the game world, instead of staring at it through a tiny little screen. So anything that makes games work on the HMD qualifies as VR no matter the controls
Most of /v/ is literally too poor, too fat, or both to enjoy VR. Not even joking.
>>747564065valve should fucking release the steam frame already, slow motherfuckers.
>>747567741you mean like dedicated mods? The tools for me per frequency of usage go>UEVR. Anything unreal engine related>Vorpx. For niche engines like original dead Space trilogy or REDengine (witcher3/CP77)>dedicated mods like HL2VR or subnautica>reshade with superdepth3d plugin. When everything else fails and can be quite ass to get the depth map working properly
>>747568218Yes older titles have often dedicated mods, newer ue ones can be run with uevr custom profiles and skripts and feel like total conversions.I also ran pimaxmagic4all to force foveated rendering becsuse it's free performance if you have eye tracking... you alrdy have that if you have a pimax headset ofc.
>>747566667The Jap niggers live in tiny studios and don't have space for VR. They also don't have the originality for VR as they're still making the same JRPGs as they were two decades ago and using FAX machines...

>>747567741I disagree. Even with those upcoming expensive headsets you can use them for all the reasons mentioned in OP. Literally thousands of hours of gaming between VR native games and VR mods, and then you still have VR experiences and sims plus movies and spacial computing shit etc. If you already have a gaming PC, it's a very good investment
>>747568001> tiny little screenWe're not all third-worlders Ranjeesh. Some of us game on 75 inch OLEDs, Your blurry little brick on the head can't compare
>>747569419I think so, too but rendering ue5 shit twice limits you basically to 3 cards 4090, 5090, 7900 xtx.If you already have one of those, or at least a fast 16gig GPU ppl should at least shill out for a cheap hmd and try. But at current prices I can't recommend shilling out thousands for it, if ppl aren't alrdy hooked. Trying to run some flat2vr stuff on mid range is just a bad experience.
>>747567667Don't listen to this person. Aircar is one of the worst games for motion sickness. I had a lot of VR hours under my belt and it still gave me problems. It is old and unoptimized trash, just a tech demo. What causes motion sickness generally is two things: low FPS and non-stable reference point. The first can be solved with PCVR hardware or playing non-intensive games. The Quest 3/3S standalone game Ghost Town, would be a good game to play. Similar to the PCVR version and a good slow pace. For a reference point I receommend wearing your headset so you are able to look down and see your feet. This helps a lot. The last thing is comfort, like getting the bobovr strap with a fan and battery. This won't improve motion sickness, but it will allow you to play longer. Longer play sessions make motion sickness worse.
>>747566429When I play GZDoom VR it's like a new doom game

I love Ubisoft games and my VR. If you’re gonna try to frame yourself as a gaming lover you should probably try not being a crybaby about games.
>>747570131>Don't listen to this person. It worked for me. Sounds like a (you) problem> Aircar is one of the worst games for motion sicknessits one of the best. It aggressively triggers the sickness response which forces your brain to respond to the negative stimuli. Doing small time minor infractions just means the problem rises again as soon as you play something with more aggressive movement in 3d space like flight sims or games with parkour mechanics
>>747567397>playing conversions of flat games is enthusiast nowgrim
>>747572045Just not how it works. One really bad motion sickness sessions will not stop motion sickness. Didn't for me anyway. I played Red Matter PCVR with a GTX 1070. Gave me really bad motion sickness. It didn't resolve until I switched over to a RTX 4070 Super.

>>747577043Honestly the eye tracked foveated rendering is gonna change the game so hard for VR. 66% less pixels to deal with on average so your typical game running at 2500x2500 per eye instead of 6million pixel per eyes to render you're looking at 2.
pussy too pixelateddo not want
>>747577638that's only if valve manages to make it system wide and not a per game thing that 99% of devs wont know how to do
>>747576651>I don't get motion sickness but this is a retarded expectation to haveAnd just like with someone who is bad at being a passenger in a moving vehicle, it's a final solution after everything else has failed and you're still not used to it.Most people won't have problems after adjusting their setup, putting up a fan and getting used to it unless they are genuinely playing games that do awful things to their camera.>>747576862They'll get around to it eventually.New headsets are already ditching the integrated battery to comply with the 2027 EU law because there was never a point to including it if you didn't just want to set an expiration date on the headset. If we're lucky we might be seeing the final wave of standalone headsets being brought to market just because the fluctuating RAM and SoC prices are going to be more of a gamble than they're worth.>Then again, nobody can afford PCs anymore, so...You can buy parts piecemeal anyway, it's not like DDR4 or DDR5 that you already have is going to just go bad.
>>747578123well I know UEVR already has a bunch of prototype quad views support in the work and there's a bunch of unreal native vr games that shipped in the last 3 years with some of them having native quad views working as well so who knowsI've also been following the dev of Climbey on yt and he got approached by a valve employee and got sent a special .dll to inject foveated rendering in his old ass OpenVR game from 2020

>>747568148The signs point to an announcement tomorrow, with a Steam VR games sale connected to it.
Oh... doom 2016 mod dropped. Another one for the backlog...
frame color passtrough addon is indeed 150 buckshowever it won't be sold on the steam store :(
>>747579272I wouldn't recommend it right now. It has a bunch of issues and the creator is having a crashout.
>>747579327why does being sold on the steam store matter
>>747566321>nice anymoreAnon the microoled displays that are big enough for good FOV and overlap don't exist yet. VR tech is stuck in a "pick 2 out of 3 important things" triangle. Actually its worse because usually a third point of the triangle is cost, but no amount of money buys the perfect VR headset. It sucks shit in some fundamental way.
>>747579391because now buying the add-on is decoupled from buying a frameso if you really want the add-on with the frame, you're going to buy it without even knowing if you'll have a frame this year
>>747579354I preemptively saved it just in case.Still need to finish bioshock. But I might drop that - didn't age that well gameplay wise. What are the problems?
>>747566679Do high altitude flight sim, its best if you start in the air without takeoff. Just make slow pitch/yaw/roll turns and go up to the speed to where your brain starts to notice and just hold it and expose yourself to that until it feels normal.
>>747566912Its literally the opposite because VR devs get tunnel vision with VR mechanics instead of remembering to make a fun game.
I only like stationary vr like cockpit games.
>>747566321the frame's main selling point is the included wireless dongle, making wireless PCVR high quality, low latency and painless to setup.knowing the 2026 memory situation, it would make more sense to focus 100% on that aspect and leave the standalone part as barebones as possible to keep the price down, but future price hikes likely weren't on their radar when they designed the thing.
>>747579837yepand good tracking+streaming already requires a nice chunk of ressources, so they got a cheap phone soc that could handle it and some more
>>747579540From what I've seen nothing is supported besides a Quest 3 with VDXR and the game has a hardcap on render resolution so you can't even push it very high. It's also not true native stereo but alternate eye rendering instead so it has ghosting issues I believe.Anyway check the thread on the flat2vr discord if you really care but yeah the creator is having a proper meltdown because he can't handle the tech support.
>>747579837The price is result of it being standalone and using wifi to stream. They need all that hardware to process the optimizations to get low latency. It was predictable that this particular direction will hit hard limit sooner than they will be able to release Frame and RAM crisis only made it worse. Valve is full of idiots.
>>747572045This anon is retarded and shouldn't be listened to. He should be in prison really. If aggressively making you sick helped, you would just play any game and push through it. Pushing through simulator sickness is known not to work. Your brain just learns to associate the motion conflict with sickness even faster. You need to microdose yourself where you stop short of the intensity that makes you sick, and just spend hours exposing yourself at your limit and keep raising the intensity every time you adapt.
>>747580219>It was predictable that this particular direction will hit hard limitsoon after the announcement, yeah
>>747572879It's radically different from person to person like literally any dimension of human ability. Some people play VR for months and they can't go any longer than hour after trying very hard. The fact that I even need to explain this is retarded in itself. Who would assume their own physiology applied to everyone the same.
>>747580024You should check again. The one I found clearly supports also pimax and psvr2, maybe different mod or update. Last update on git was 6 hrs ago.
>>747574000thing is I don't want you to know about them. The people that deserve to enjoy the same hobbies I do will use a search engine
>>747576330For unreal engine games, yes, modern unreal games you need state of the art, some games a 5090 isn't fast enough. For VR games or conversions of games 10 years old no, you just need a decent PC.
>>747577043VR can use frame doubling reprojection techniques. The artifacts suck at low framerate, don't try to turn 45fps into 90 fps for example, but higher framerates become feasible. It's much easier to hit 72 native and reproject to 144 than run native 120.
>>747578123Game engine developers have the most power to do it, I think both unreal and godot already have it.
>>747580983Out of all the reproj tech I've tried, the only one that's actually good is whatever they use on native quest games. It's genuinely sad there's so much tech stuck in that ecosystem...
>>747579475Maybe they won't launch it until frame is shipping
>>747579354This is why we needed vibe coded mods. A human reverse engineering a VR mod is an insane amount of mental strain and they are just going to crack or move on to important things in their life before finishing it
What's the best headset to get if I'm not cheap
>>747579837You need a sufficiently powerful SOC for wireless video decode, and the headset is wireless so it needs to do slam tracking, eye tracking, hand tracking, reprojection etc on the HMD. To not throw in enough ram and storage and just make a standalone PC is kind of a waste of the SOC.
>>747581121Steam VR recently improved theirs, I haven't tried it though. There's also an option for eye tracked reprojection on frame.
>>747581568Frame or from what I've heard the pimax dream air, the ungodly expensive one, not the cheaper one.
>>747564065Name one decent VR game that has come out this year
>>747581792>pimax dream air, the ungodly expensive oneThe 4k one?
>>747581716I'll try it whenever I get a frame :^)Otherwise there's another one that kinda works. Virtual Desktop has a sync spacewarp options. It's dogshit, except for one game. MSFS2020. Why? Because the guy that worked at microsoft did the implementation of VR for that game as well as worked with the virtual desktop guy to make an openxr runtime.Basically it's one of the only game that can send motion vectors to the VDXR runtime to have spacewarp work somewhat correctly.
>>747581867Forefront
>nibbas ITT actually think they're going to get a frameYou're all on hopium
>>747582026>ForefrontThis looks like peak slopLike the type of slop they put on slop shows to show teens playing gamesIs this AI generated?
>>747581871>>747581792>110 FOV Fucks sake, for that price?
>>747582143you type like a nigger and youre shits all retarded
>>747582452Pimax dream air, for that price, needa a strap mod and a face interface mod. Strap because stock one is meh and face interface pushes fov to 120°
>>747564065Name one good VR game released this year
>>747582608Knights of Fiona
>>747582658>furryslopanother miss
>>747582723How about Quantum Void?
>>747583345>Quantum VoidLooks cool
in the end they changed it back to lottery again, which will explicitly end on sept 17
>>747581582Yet at the same time you don't need that SoC to live in the headset.
>>747583419It has really neat atmosphere and interesting world. Nice puzzles too.
>>747582452Yes, its unusual for VR headsets to go over 110 without some horrible trade off like distortion or being a giant box on your head or both. Also 110 with 1" panels is actually impressive.
>>747584269Yeah this is true, it becomes an ergos/engineering/cost conversationI wish the compute could go in the back and be part of the headstrap, but people would probably rest their head on a pillow and cook it
i agree!!! i erp with jap girls and femboys all the time on vrchat and its feels soo nice~im now voice training :3
>>747585103Based department? You might want to sit down for this one...
>>747585103dude fucking same, i started to learn japanese because of vrchat
>>747584810>without some horrible trade off like distortionwell about thatit's so bad that the distortion correction profile of the third-party driver limits the fov quite a bit
picrel (not that reliable) and this (reliable)https://x.com/itsgogoxr/status/2099201101421510664frame bros... we're all going to make it...
>>747587694Not sacrificing anyone. Not sacrificing anyone even while priced less than $666.00
>>747564065I'm JUST not interested in flat games converted to VR. SIMPLY not impressed by pointing a gun with my hands, that does nothing for me.Robo Recall, that's the kind of shooter I want in VR. The kind that actually uses my physical body, and not just for pointing at things. Unfortunately they don't make those kinds of games anymore because chairtrannies won and everyone plays VR sitting down now
>>747587901I think you underestimate the quality of some of those vr mods
>>747583345I think it's a cool game but hard to recommend. The little combat there is sucks and there's a lot of backtracking.
>>747588016No I don't, I've played the "best" ones already. I think you underestimate the interactivity of Robo Recall
>>747587901based standards haver>>747587694if it does end up 3 digits that would imply the price pre-ram crisis would have been fairly competitive, what could have been...
>>747588108quite a few people are hearing below 1k for base modelsomeone even said he heard less than 900 but idk if I trust that, could just be gbp shenanigans for all I know
>>747565667ironically no. theres so many children (like actual 12 year olds) running around screaming "SHUT UP NIGGER! HAHA LOOK MOM IM TROLLING!" that actually being a racist edgelord comes off as extremely lame and uncool by associationyoull get banned if youre wearing an adolf hitler fursuit and spamming dead nigger gore gifs, but outside of that nobody really cares
>>747588536you get a beyond for 950 or a dream se for 1050.the fuck could a frame @ 900 offer for the market?
>>747588106I played robo recall.Actually had it till zucc nuked my occulus acc.
>>747588667>beyond for 950starts at 1.3k€, wired, needs controllers and base stations (EOL'd) , melts>dream se for 1050you'd have to pay me to use pimax, no thanks, it's only an option for simmers that don't mind half baked hardware and software that will never be finished
>>747564065So many amazing games you always circle back to a fucking shitty 3D chat like there have been dozens in the past, holy fucking cringe.
valve kill this nigger why does he have a frame early and not mehttps://old.reddit.com/r/SteamFrame/comments/1wfh0tz/i_aint_signed_jack_so_i_can_say_this_slaps/
>>747589172dad works for nintendo
>>747580507How is your sense of balance? Do you exercise?
>>747589006fuck then it sounds like vr is dead. pimax had like 12 former other headsets, not one of them were perfect or without problems or long tinkering but atleast they were all expensive. the dream is said to be pretty good but for 2k it should be.maybe apple pro is the only decent vr headset on the market.
>>747590429AVP but without apple constantly trying to stop people from doing whatever they want with it would be the greatest headset on the marketand also fix the price and the horrible weight distribution it's a fucking brick man
>>747589006I have distant hope that Pimax will be improved when (if) they release a Linux version of their software this year.>>747590429The wired headsets are all a bit kneecapped by the fact they have almost all bet on being the "Expensive Paper Tiger Index sidegrade for enthusiasts who will pay anything" and are currently being weened off of that tit.
>>747579786This. I'll tell you what the best VR game ever is. The original RE4. Just RE4 but you shoot with your hands and reload. Pure fucking kino of the highest order.
>>747564065I still use PSVR to goon in DOAX3 and astrobot
>inb4 Gay Ben drops the ball again and sells his underpowered shit for $300+ more than its worthI don't think anyone who likes VR actually wants it to succeed. You need to rope in the normies first and nobody even tried marketing to them.
>>747592264These aren't for normalfags or casuals or children. The Frame is for poorfag (relatively) enthusiasts and people who do not want to support Meta/don't want to give their info to Meta.
>>747595125>people who do not want to support Meta/don't want to give their info to Meta.a minority of users
>>747595125It brings a new standard for VR controls
>>747595221Yeah? What's your point? That's literally one of the groups Valve is targeting. I don't even think Valve is going to make more than 2 million of these units over the next 10 years before they work on something else.
surely we'll get ick on eckard posts
>>747597769go back to trash
>>747597934>>>/trash/85286291
>>747597769based>>747598165>negro avatarkys
>>747595221>a minority of usersSurvivor bias because non meta offerings are bad, bad for the price, or outdated. Meta is like the 2nd most cited reason for not adopting VR, after no games.Still frame doesn't really fix this. It's not price competitive against quest 3 because one was released years before the rampocalypse
>>747590098Terrible? No. What's the point of asking? I don't get VR sick period, but I don't pretend everyone will be like me after playing VR for a few weeks.
>>747588667beyond you will be buying index controllers and light house dream SE sucks, it's the normal dream that's good but that's a whole different price bracket
>>747599036Lots of people got motion sickness from TVs when they were new
>>747574000This retard thinks looking at his monitor playing cyberpunk is the same as seeing night city everywhere you turn. It's so obvious who had actually used vr and who has not.
>>747601925>muh night cityanother retard who would sooner stare at a videogame than actually play one
>>747583419>>747584415I still have no clue how the game looks so damn good standalone on the Quest 3.
>>747602214Because it uses somewhat optimized poly geometry and baked lighting... It's not rocket science and it's not using some magic engine. It's literally just unity engine but used like you would make a game in 2012.
>>747599917Use your brain. People went to movie theaters decades before television or even sound. The better example is doom and the first FPS games, with sim sickness from FPS games being extremely rare now. VR might be like this if you can get virtually every child to play it, but it does nothing for the people who are grown and have hardened vestibular systems. VR games took so much damage specifically because older devs couldn't adapt and had to make roomscale minigame dogshit. If doom was made by guys in their 50s instead of 20s it would've sucked or wouldn't have been made at all.
