It's embarrassing just how badly chinesium brands have been kicking first-party controllers' asses for almost a decade now. Not because the chinesium brands have become incredible, but because first-parties have absolutely shat the bed with their prices and design trends. though the chinks are starting to lose the plot again with their attempts at "elite" type controllers too

I got one of these Gamesaaar for my Xbox Series X™ back on 2024, due to rough times that didn't allowed me to give my shekels to get a Microcuck real controller.
I thought it was going to be a disposable controller, but to my surprise, it is still kicking and working properly to this day.

Saaar, Gamesaaar is a good reliable brand for shitty brands saaaar.
>>
what sort of bizarro reality do you live in? i have never had a first party controller break, yet countless third party pieces of shit simply stop working after a few years of use. this seems like a shitty advertising thread
>>
>>747573194
I've got a Gamesaar Cyclone 2 and it's aight. The mechanical buttons are really nice (just feels correct for the D-Pad specifically) and the controller feels nice in your hand. Worst thing I can say is that:
1. The back buttons are a little unflexible (only programmable to other controller buttons unless I missed something)
2. Dualshock mode default-maps the back buttons to trackpad TOUCH instead of PRESS, with one touch in the middle, so cheating for extra mappings in i.e. Steam Input is awkward.
3. Gyro has never once stopped drifting and also jumped like crazy whenever the clicky triggers were used.
So maybe be careful for that if you care even a little bit.
I use a Steam Controller 2 now because I like weird doohickey features (and I prefer symmetrical layouts) and I'd say that one's also good, but it's too early to tell if there won't be long-term issues, and if you don't care for gimmicks it has very little to offer you (I think I like the back buttons most out of any controller I used though). Is this technically a first-party controller?
My bro has a 8bitdo Ultimate 2 and those controllers are obviously also still very good. Back buttons can be properly exposed to software, good build quality, personally I think it looks the coolest, with the sleek shape, the ring lights and all that.

>>
>>747577063
it feels great, but the dpad gives false diagonal inputs, just like the switch 1 pro. Nintendo's last bulletproof controller was the WiiU pro, which is what I still use on PC. It's light, battery lasts forever, and I like the sticks on top for most things.
>>
>>747576424
Gamesaaar is destroying the competition if you aren't living under a rock. They have Xbox Elite / Dualsense Edge level controllers at a fraction of the price.
>>
>>747573194
>Is 8Bitdo still the default to buy or are there any new players in the game?
If you can wait and don't need a controller right now, the Steam Controller is the only correct choice. Nothing else comes close. If you need a controller right now, then buy whatever is the cheapest piece of shit you can find that'll last you the 6 months until you can order the Steam Controller.
>>
>>747578363
im a huge fan of the original pro controller, i think it is peak comfort. love that aspect of it. i have two of the special totk edition controllers because i think they are cool designs.

but the sticks are so wildly out of spec its insane. like testing the circularity is actually comical because of how bad it is.

i havent gotten to try out the pro 2 yet, im sure its comfortable, but from what i read they basically used the same sticks, which is pathetic, especially when the controller is also more expensive than any other first or third party controller.
>>
>>747573194
Honestly I have to wonder what sort of people are behind posts like these. In the 30+ years of playing video games I have never once broken a controller, I have seen my brother break some but he was a ragetard who'd smash them against chairs when he was losing. Like seriously pressing buttons harder or tilting joysticks with all your strength won't actually make a fucking difference, learn to control your strength.

>The back buttons are a little unflexible (only programmable to other controller buttons unless I missed something)
Back buttons can be remapped to other buttons, stick directions, a shift layer toggle, or keyboard/mouse buttons, up to 3 binds at once. As a general rule for third parties KBM binds only work in xinput, Sony/Switch input modes won't spoof a keyboard or mouse.
>Dualshock mode default-maps the back buttons to trackpad TOUCH instead of PRESS, with one touch in the middle
Never tried that, that's pretty ass. Thought it would've at least done left/right touch.
>Gyro
Haven't had that experience, it's the only third party gyro I've used so far that mostly aims where I point it (first party's still better). Never used the digital triggers but that sounds like a hardware problem if it's affecting the gyro.

Unironically the Steam Controller has rapidly become my favourite. I hated the original one so I was wary about the new one, but Valve actually did great work with it.
The ergonomics are great, but the real star is that Steam's input translation layer and macro setup lets you do a lot of extra things. I was able to put two unique radial dials with custom icons on each of the touch pads specifically for inputting keyboard shortcuts while in controller mode.

Only problems are that the material feels cheap, and frankly it just needs to withstand 5 years of gaming before it can be considered truly good.

Allegedly the sticks shouldnt drift, but we'll see.
>>
>>747582035
>As a general rule for third parties KBM binds only work in xinput, Sony/Switch input modes won't spoof a keyboard or mouse.
Aaah, I see. I didn't really like the idea of faffing about in a proprietary controller software everytime I wanted to change the mapping so I kinda gravitated to the other modes right away, so at least the gyro would be integrated instead of this XInput-with-mouse hybrid.
>Never tried that, that's pretty ass. Thought it would've at least done left/right touch.
That would just make way too much sense. I honestly thought the same.
>Haven't had that experience, it's the only third party gyro I've used so far that mostly aims where I point it (first party's still better). Never used the digital triggers but that sounds like a hardware problem if it's affecting the gyro.
Maybe my unit's just bad then. Shit happens. Just wouldn't stop drifting no matter what. If I calibrated it it'd just drift the other way 5 minutes later.
>>
>>747581281
The grip is a bit different from normal xbox/switch pro controllers cause your thumbs naturally rest on the inside dpad/buttons instead of the outside, but the sticks are still close and comfortable imo.
I'm biased cause I love the symmetrical layout. Just fits well in my hands and makes more sense to my brain either way.
If I'm playing something where I'm mostly using dpad/buttons, or left stick/buttons, I prefer Wii U.
If I'm playing something where I want both thumbs on both sticks most of the time, I go playstation.
>>
>>747582426
>Only problems are that the material feels cheap

>Is 8Bitdo still the default to buy or are there any new players in the game?
yeah, i just wish their future controller face buttons and triggers become mush and silent and bigger, that should be their next focus, controllers in general are way too fucking loud, 8bitdo already has everything you could need with the pro3 or ultimate 2 atm other than that the switch 1 pro controller is the feeling i want next from the future controllers

>yeah, i just wish their future controller face buttons and triggers become mush and silent and bigger, that should be their next focus

based and objectively true. the ultimate is the only controller than competes with the switch pros as far as comfort, but the face buttons are way too small and bulbous and clackety.

also, the extremely subtle ergonomic thing that the pro controller does by having its face buttons not be in a a perfect diamond shape, but rather having the diamond be sort of squished, so your thumb lays across them better, needs to be copied more. id also like the ultimate to have removable back paddles rather than built in, but other than that its pretty much perfect.

>>747581273
Every console has functions beyond the scope of a single game in their online services.
Which game is going to foot the bill for your gamer profile, friends list, messaging service, etc indefinitely?
You could say all of them or even the console sale itself, but then even people who aren't interested in online pay for it.
This is a blunt way to give people the option to save a few bucks while also making the fees slightly more transparent.
By the way every service that doesn't charge the sub fee expects you to continually pay anyway through other monetization avenues like skins or they will simply end of service their online servers.

PC Controllers are considered Microsoft, and therefore XBox land, so most third-party PC controllers worth anything are XBox layout.
Blame it on Sony controllers not having native PC drivers I guess.
Maybe Steam Controller 2 unironically fixes, but I kinda doubt it (I'd welcome more controllers having a wacky third input on each side tho desu).

I'm using a PowerA Switch 1 controller for PC gaming that my brother gifted me last year. It's...serviceable, to put it kindly, which it's to be expected from a cheap $20 controller he got me from Target, but I would absolutely not recommend it with how stiff every single button feels and how cheaply made it feels, just invest on a proper controller from a company that actually specializes in gaming controllers.

>unfixable drift
I just opened and cleaned my Switch 1 Pro Controller since it was drifting to the left and it was very easy other than requiring a very thin screwdriver to remove two specific screws. It's working like a charm again after blasting it with compressed air.

My primary issue with this is not having aftermarket replacement sticks or sensors available if it begins to drift. There's chinese TMR modules that have improved on the design, but those aren't available to consumers either and afaik aren't the same ribbon cable design regardless.
