What is the impulse that drives people to lie about beating this game with no guide/hint/walkthrough of any kind? Maybe it's been so long that they actually believe it.

i don't remember using one when i beat it on wii's virtual console

majora's mask did filter me and i ended up finishing it on 3ds
>>
It’s a game for 10 year olds bro
>>
>>747574726
I didn't know what to do after leaving kokiri forest as a kid, so that's where I gave up
>>
It’s not a particularly hard game if you actually pay attention to what is being said to you, but of course the world is full of DSPs and Arin Hansons so retards will always complain.
>>
>>747574726
i beat hexen through massive trial and error, this is a breeze in comparison
>>
Why is it so hard for you to believe?
>>

I remember I got to the water temple when I was a kid, but then the water temple frustrated me so much I gave up. I got pretty far into the temple though I think I got to the boss key before I finally threw up my hands

This but La Mulana.

You talked to npcs, a couple of them give you hints, you connect the dots, rinse and repeat for every dungeon.

The most "lost" part of this game is after you get the master sword, and you have no hint about where to go, so after exiting Hyrule castle, the closest location should be Kakariko village, and there you get hints about the graveyard.
>>
yep I used a guide, still kino. I will try not to use a guide on switch but I probably will kek
>>
>>747574726
Navi literally tells you what to do
>>
>>747574726
the game is very intuitive when you have triple digit IQ. as a 9 year old i actually thought it was too heavy handed with the hints. Is fucking hilarious, scary, and sad to watch "modern gamers" cry about it being too hard.

i remember a family friend showing me and my sister how to get into Dodongo's Cavern. and then later on i borrowed a player's guide from my neighbor for the water temple.
>>
>>747574726
me and my friends would have serious discussions about how to beat certain parts of the game in grade school. whenever someone made it to the water temple and got stuck we'd remind them about the key under the floating panel.

not 100% runs but beating the game nonetheless.
the biggest thing we talked about was lies trying to find a way to get navi back after the end credit scene

Sheik tells you explicitly to go to the graveyard. You can't skip that conversation.

The only kind of support I had was my little sister sitting next to me for most of the play-through from Christmas into the new year.
The local vidya magazines had no guides before the new year and web access wasn't really a thing, yet.

Fun was had, even if people born way too late like OP can't believe that.

He didn't play the game
>>
>>747580253
did you finger your sister ?
>>
>>747574726
I beat the game when I was literally six at a neighbor's house, and the only parts of the game I got stuck at were figuring out how to get Darunia on your side and figuring out how to get into Jabu-Jabu. Both cases I just eventually pieced together what to do over the course of about an hour. My friend was helping me along the way, but I didn't need a guide and I just barely had the hand eye coordination to even play 3D games.

>8 years old (on release)
Got stuck in the Deku Tree because I couldn't read English yet and didn't understand the Deku Scrub "puzzle" at the end.
>9 years old
At this point I had learned enough English from playing Pokémon Red that I could follow NPC instructions. Got stuck in Goron City because I couldn't figure out to play Zelda's Lullaby on the triforce symbol, nor did I have Saria's Song or any idea to go to the Lost Woods - Navi's hint went over my head.
>15 years old
Returned to the game and completed it easily without a guide because I was no longer a small child.

So yes, if you're a kid and especially if you're not playing it in your native language it is a hard game. But anyone who struggles with it as a teen or adult is retarded.

Ye who runs needlessly.
Thou art a fool.
Thou art a fool.

>What is the impulse
Honestly, I don't know. Back in 1998 me and my friends beat the game together by sharing hints and solutions. We were retarded kids but we were enough good friends to enjoy figuring out the game together. Good times. The same happened with Majora's Mask and Resident Evil 2 and 3.
