Good morning sirs
Hot take but live services and digital ownership were never the problem. And although lootboxes are impossible to defend and a very greedy choice by Valve, the fact they are provided for free and then traded between players in an organic market makes it feel better than just paying $5 straight to EA for a chance at getting what you actually want.
Installing a game on your PC is the only way to own the game, because you can modify the files however you see fit.

Please do not criticize the Epstein wannabe yacht jew. He offered a lot of good services like paid mods and underage gambling.

>>747575680Yeah, its better not to give directly 10 bucks for an item you want, but piss away thousands of dollars in gambling-like fashion, you fucking paypig
>>747575546PC chuds have Stockholm syndrome
>>747576309You know you can buy items directly in all of Valve's games, right? But instead you give the money to the player that found the item.As result 95% of the items cost pennies, 4% cost up to $10, and 1% cost hundreds/thousands of dollars because they are ultra rares.

>>747575546>Did none of these thingsIs this the Americas school of pioneering? Did they give EA some smallpox blankets?>>747575680Live service and digital ownership were never the problem, the problem is that copyright as it applies to software has degenerated ever since software copyright was introduced in 1980.Copyright was never meant to apply to software for the same reason that copyright was never meant to apply to AI slop: the output of compilers, animals, xenos and LLMs is not human work, the human work of software is the code and assets and only human work is protected by copyright law.The result is that American copyright law is unconstitutional and EU copyright law (where you can resell licenses and software even if you only have a digital copy and no disc) is ignored and software licenses are treated as a license for the issuing company to do whatever the fuck they want to with no repercussions while they insist on extralegal EULAs to intimidate customers and justify infringing on what rights they do have.

>>747576450thats why we have gambling market for valve games with market cap of 4 billion, you fucking cretin
>>747576758You can gamble in any game with RNG. Runescape has an item that spawns a flower with a randomized color, and people gamble on the colors.
