I need more "military vs the unknown" type Vidya but I don't want at extraction shooter live service crap.Where do I go?
EDF. Kind of.
>>747577270how bout this game no one remembers
>>747577382>Unknown Anon they're just humans
>>747577813I wanted to like this game but a good premise doesn't make a good game
Are you autistic enough for turn based combat?
>>747577813yeah theres a reason for that
>>747577865Two arms, two legs and a head...That's a human
>>747577865OH MY GOD THEY'RE JUST LIKE US>tfw the voice actors were told to do this for the frogs by accident and not the actual big grey humans
>>747577270If you like JRPGs
>>747579497It's on the backlog but it's a little too sci-fi for what I'm actually going for here.
>>747577270someone should make a monsterhunter-like in that kind of setting
>>747577270Doom with Hideous Destructor is close
>>747577270Remnant is kinda this. Guns vs fantasy stuff. Although its not really super military.
such a kino trope
Anomaltih, releases 28th october.
This time with screenshot. Be warned, in the demo you gain anime superpowers after the first level, but just the running around exploring, customizing guns, shooting and looting was fun itself. Weirdly similar to Astral Chain, plot noting that resources are starved and HQ isnt sending anyone else to reinforce you adds to the solitude.
>>747581143That's JJK right? The curses in that would be awesome for that kind of thing.
>>747577270CoD zombies
>supernatural entities have specific weaknesses like silver or iron>modern day bullets don't have either so best they can do is chip damage even if the caliber is high>even when you're fully kitted with tactical gear the odds are against yousounds like a good alternative to the usual horror scenario where the player is simply not given any weapons
>>747581651>furyu sloppayawn
>>747582589Please dont dash my hopes, anon, I thought it was fun.
>>747583130
>>747583239Now I first thought you were just pulling my leg. QRD on Furyu?
>>747581143>>747581798Read Ajin
>>747583379https://automaton-media.com/en/news/jrpg-developer-furyu-directly-addresses-its-a-furyu-game-though-stigma-surrounding-its-titles-says-its-taking-gameplay-criticis/
>>747583239>>747583130If you're ever bought a FuRyu figgie you'd know
>>747584262>figgieBut what about their video games, who cares about figurines
>>747584418If I don't trust them with my plastic butts, I sure don't trust them with my vidya
Its a stretch, but Broken Lines might qualify. Allied troops airdropped in, but end up somewhere unknown. Enemies are mostly just mysterious masked opponents with a lot of implied horror underneath. Semi-real-time-turn-based.
>>747583379Their games just kinda suck yet they somehow keep doing well enough to make more of them
>>747577270Hideous Destructor
>>747584731Exactly describes their figure productionLooks good enough in photos to trick idiots to buy it, but the final product is always lacking if you look close
>>747577270Im only okay with this if the military actually stands up well. Like the end of the The Mist where the military just sweeps in and clears out an interdimensional invasion.
>>747584731>yet they somehow keep doing well enoughVideo games aren't their main source of revenue. They have the monopoly on purikura booths in Japan.
>>747584692Didn't they end up adding zombies? That kinda killed the theme of the game for me
>>747585036They did, "Dead and the Drunk" was it? Never tried it. Main game lost some challenge when snipers could clear out maps, but I was sufficicently creeped out by all the main game endings, all of them either dooming the team, the valley (hinting that the masked soldiers was guarding chtulu or something) or dooming everyone.
>>747581651>anime shooter that isn't a joke gameIt's about time
>>747585270It may not be funny but it is a joke
>>747584876I'm actually more into the idea of horror settings where the army actually CAN handle the threat but until they show up anyone caught in the radius is in big trouble compared to ones where it's a OH MY SCIENCE APOCALYPSE SCENARIOThat gives me an idea, would be neat to see some sort of squad tactics shooter where you can handle the horror monsters pretty reliably but the whole time you see reminders of the hell random civilians went through before you showed up
>>747577270Did this get any good over time?I checked out when I heard they were doing "seasons" and would reset progress. Is that still a thing?
>>747585472I dunno man, 90k very positive reviews probably pretty bad.
>>747585518Chink product published by netease so yes, probably worse than the reviews suggest.
>>747577270Check out Kinki Spiritual Assault Bureauit looks like low budget shit, and it is, but it's entertaining
>>747577270real life
>>747582469Both are valid materials for bullets, just impractical. Those fuckers will stay alive only until someone gets their crucible out. Also if steel may be considered "iron", there are steel core bullets out there already
Another potential. Wasteland 2 and 3. They do lean into the goofy side of the settings, 3 more than 2. But for me nailed having a military squad trying to figure out and fight all kind of weird shit.
>>747585472Never played either for similar reasons, but they added four "scenario" (I assume this is seasons) servers that never reset (no idea if that's 4 different ones or 4 servers for the same endless season) and the other "scenarios" and their servers still get wipes
>>747585675>only the cheapest russian bullets are useful because they have steel jackets
>>747585646Good shit. Thank you, anon.
I wonder why a Delta Green vidya hasn't been made yet
>>747585472Seasons are divided across servers now and some servers are permanently in a single season, so you never need to move seasons if you don't want to. You can store anything you want to keep across seasons in Eternaland (basically permanent storage/metaprogression) and what you really lose between seasons is levels so you don't steamroll all the content in less than a day.
>>747582469I like it when bullets work they just work a lot slower/less effectively. When supernatural entities are ONLY killable via sunlight or silver or whatever it's kind of lame. The idea that a werewolf or vampire could survive a nuke is silly but I don't mind a werewolf being able to shrug off everything smaller than an elephant gun with minimal damage. Actually now that I think about it, Resident Evil has a decent standard for how much firepower I think it should take to kill your average monster.
>>747585715this game was good until the moment you left desert wasteland.damn, i hate Inxile niggers for releasing half finished game.
>>747585675>Also if steel may be considered "iron"If I know my folklore the material needs to be autistically specific. If it says iron it has to be iron.
>>747585949What about cast iron (not iron at all)?
>>747577813I remember. There are is absurd amount of lovingly animated scenes of monsters voreing people in Legendary
>>747586037Depends if retarded peasants who wrote the rule book thought cast iron was iron or not.
>>747577865I CAN'T DO IT, I'VE NEVER KILLED ANYONE BEFORE
I always envisioned a rainbow six/SWAT/ready or not type game where you plan/play a small squad that has to deal with paranormal shit, anything from wendigos to ghosts to demons, you have to use the right equipment and weaponry to pacify them. There was a top-down shooter that had a similar concept but I want to command a squad of niggas republic commando style.
>>747577865by god, featherless biped!
>>747577270FEAR should have been this but the series got too caught up in clone soldiers and alma
>>747589280>clone soldiersThis is why nobody takes FEAR seriously. Military clones.
>>747585790>>747585852Doesn't matterSeasons are a gay concept for retards.Either make the game progress or don't. Wiping the things I built is the quickest way to make me never buy your game.I was hoping they abandoned the idea entirely. But I guess they are just chinese bugmen at the end of the day. Evolutionarily accustomed to everything they work for being wiped out periodically.
>>747591302remote controlled military clones
>>747577270idk if ayys count as unknowns but either way, I wish we'd get a good Mars Attack game. would probably be best as an EDF clone I just think this shit is cool as hell and it seems perfectly suited for vidya
>>747585887>The idea that a werewolf or vampire could survive a nuke is sillywhich is why they don't? nuclear fire is still fire and generally works even against the supernatural
>>747577270is this a game?
>>747577865I'm happy people still remember this.
>>747577270>>747587467This is pretty much the premise I'd like to create as a video game mod in a singleplay FPS game. The issue is, I can't really find a game to build this off of. STALKER is out of the question since I don't know Russian.>make your own gameI'm not a good enough programmer to do this from scratch. I can only make mods.
>>747583379from what I played, bargain bin type of games that sometimes have some really good partscaligula is like 5/10 but the soundtrack is awesome, the second game is an overall improvement on everything imo aside from the music which is not worse just differentcrystar has a somewhat interesting story and setting but the gameplay gets boring fast, I haven't finished itmy personal favourite is lost dimension, even if it falls short, it has good ideas, Monark supposedly builds on some those but it didn't grab me the same way as lost dimension
>>747584501That's backward. Their scale figures cost twice as much as the average vidya. It would be reasonable to be more willing to pay $40 for some AA game than pay $200 for an F:NEX figure.
>>747594040I've spoken with plenty of non-russian stalker modders. Poles, Germans, Hungarians, even one Dutchman. There are guides out there.
>>747577270I want a game that does what FEAR was supposed to do initially - a "spec ops vs urban legends" thing where your specially trained military unit deals specifically with paranormal threats.>Delta 5, we got the visual on the necromancer, no sign of any undead, judging by the intensity of the runes we estimate that he's around 3-5 minutes into the ritual, awaiting instructions.>HQ, the skinwalker appears to have absorbed Talon 3's memories. It knows all our code phrases and is most likely monitoring this channel. We're going dark.>This is Falcon 4, the witch is neutralized, but I am heavily hexed. I require immediate evac and a dose of Philosopher's Stone.
>>747585472>Download game>Create character>Choose your body ty-Dropped.
>>747585949>that ayy who decided to cheat the system making himself vunerable only to pig iron
>>747577865H-HE LOOKS JUST LIKE USI CAN'T SHOOT HIM
>>747587467>>747589280I see I got beat to it and didn't pay attention when I wrote >>747595832
>>747596145>his face when peasants cast iron into the shape of a pig and throw it at him>it works
>>747578703I want this but instead of ayys it's ww2 weird Nazi folklore scientist shit
>>747582469Chip damage, when applied in sufficent quantity, is deadly.>t. lance main
>>747596482Mild kek
>>747585472Once Human is more like civvies vs SCP anomalies so not really. OP is asking for playing as task forces and spec ops.
>>747596482>The very rare asian forest creature from a small mountain region that can only be killed by using a specific wooden dagger crafted from a rare bamboo type when it gets thrown into a wood chipper
>>747577865Strangely cute human
>>747591302A full battalion of them, highly trained and heavily armed.
>>747598487I always liked the idea that ancient demon prophecies and weaknesses aren't absolute, they're just the gathered knowledge of what ancient medieval peasants knew from the tools they had at the time. The big scary monster is pierced by this specific wooden dagger, but shrugs off all our metal spears, arrowheads, isn't hurt when we throw rocks at it, and it doesn't seem to burn when we throw our hay/pitch covered torches at it. Sure, it's "invincible" unless we have the dagger. However a medieval peasant would have no idea what would happen to the monster if it gets hit by sustained fire from an assault rifle with white phosphorous rounds.
>>747577270The closest you can get is either stalker or heavily modded fallout 4.
>>747599128That's fallout 4?
>>747599367Yes.
>>747599065I like this take as well, to a certain extent.Like tossing a mythical creature into a wood chooper will absolutely kill it. But the wooden dagger works too, and generally works better. So putting the two together, you get a specialized military force that goes "ah yes, that cryptid from asia, get the daggerlauncher" which is just an RPG tipped with a wooden dagger. But sometimes they run into something they either don't have the research for, or can't make anymore, or it would take too long. So they just use an expeditious and overwhelming amount of firepower. The Hellboy movies felt like a pretty good approximation of that.
>>747593512I wish.
