If companies simply never touched UE5 and instead kept iterating on an engine they built in like 2008 games would look just as good but would take half as long to make. mh world used the same engine as dmc4 and both games still hold up well. fromsoft has shamelessly been using the demon souls engine to pump out a new game every 2 years and normalfags worship them.

There's a difference with a game dev reusing his dev tools while still providing a new experience in every game. Versus indie devs releasing 12 titles a year that all look the same.

if triple a studios wants to spend several years and waste hundreds of millions on each game it will be heavily inspected including reuse of assets and compared to rdr2
they get what they fucking deserve
