Literally unplayable in the current year. The remake completely replaces it.

Top tier comfy when played on a big CRT TV in dark room.
>>
>respawn with 30hp
I think if the game LITERALLY just didn't do that and respawned you with 75% of your max hp I could stomach everything else. I hit a point where I was grinding for hp and I realized starting the entire fucking game over from the very beginning would be faster than fucking around a spawner getting 10 hp at a time

NEStroid has legit techinical issues, you can either read or watch about them. Said that, ZM doesn't replace the original, they execute the formula in different ways so, if NEStroid technical issues filters you, you can just apply a romhack to fix it or play Metroid Planets instead
>>
>>747589645
No it's fine
It's worse than Kid Icarus but it's alright
It's not actually that hard, the map's pretty small. Recovery's a bit rough but beyond that it's not a big deal to beat it.
>>
>>747589645
nestroid fans and defenders are so few and far between I think that you're simply just engagement baiting.
>>
>>747589645
Play Metroid Planets.
>>
>>747589645
It's a great game if you play the FDS version, use a joystick controller, and aren't a faggot.
>But it's too hard!
Children beat it in the 80s.
>But there's no map!
It's a maze, retard. That's the point.

Zero Mission is dumbed down to the point of being insulting.
>>
>>747590772
I don't buy the fact that kids beat really any nes games back in the day. I never hear boomers say they beat games, most of the time they're complaining about how hard their games were, only here to people pretend nes games were super easy
>>
>>747590965
If the simple act of including a map is dumbing down to being insulting, maybe it wasn't that hard to begin with.
>>
>>747590965
Shine spark puzzles > anything in the Metroid series.

The bird statues tell you where to go, nigga.

Do zoomers really think every previous generation was as retarded as them?
>>
>>747590363
It just needs something equivalent to the fairies in Zelda
It's not even just about respawning; the same need for healing occurs if you make it through a difficult area with little HP left

there has never been a single video game remaster/remake that was better than the original.
>>

If you played the original, then you already know where to go without them guiding you, you disingenuous faggot.

I didn't beat arcade games with limited lives like Rush n'Attack

1-2 were always kusoge and only deranged old good new bad people would disagree. Just start with super
>>
>>747591035
Yeah most people back in the day could never beat the games, that's why every magazine had cheat codes in it
>>747591308
Shut up zoomer. We also weren't terminally online back then so we would only play a game like an hour a day max and spend the rest of the day playing with friends
>>
>>747593308
The death of the baby hits harder with context. (Rescuing it at the end of Metroid 2)
>>
>>747589645
I liked it but I did resort to using a Nintendo Power scan to find the last few upgrades thinking there was some convoluted process to it when I had just failed to properly mark my map aa unexplored. The map is so simple and easy to mark that it really isn't a problem that it isn't in-game for the most part, the real nasty shit is the abominable slowdown throughout. I have no clue how anyone could have played those busier tunnels or the Mother Brain fight and thought that shit was acceptable.
>>
>>747589645
The remake had the most soul. Define soul? No. You know I'm right. Also, the remake includes the original on the same cartridge as a bonus, as all remakes should.
>>
>>747593807
Didn't the original game included on ZM have save files, too, as opposed to the password system? Fucking Christ, ZM even had a good version of a bad game hidden away in it.

NES games looks better on a small CRT.
Not even kidding. Composite looks worse the bigger the screen is.

t. owner of two 27 inchers and they're too big.
>>
>>747589645
There are some romhacks that fix it up.
>>
There is nothing wrong with the original Metroid.

Zoomers are such pussies.
>>
>>747591035
I didn't beat shit like Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania. Metroid is an easy game though. Everybody beat it.
>>
>>747590363
Play Metroid Planets or the Metroid mOTHER romhack, it adds in QoL like a minimap, beamstacking, save files and you respawn with full health.
>>
>>747591035
excuse me, i beat so many games of this era as a kid. we didn't have shit. if you wanted to cheat you had to buy a magazine to help you. there was no fucking internet. if your friends didn't know how to do shit you were fucked. you better git gud!
>>
>>747593964
No it actually still used passwords.
>>
>>747595052
I'm the owner of one 27 incher
>>
>>747591035
There were a lot of games I couldn't beat, but things like Metroid, Final Fantasy, SMB, and Zelda were exceptions. Most of the games I couldn't beat don't really deserve their "Nintendo-hard" reputation either, and they only gained that label because so many people played them at a very young age like I did. When I revisited them later, I was able to clear most of them quickly and easily.

>>747589645
I think the remake is a better game overall, but it's inferior to the original in some ways.
>>
>>747589645
If you're really that much of a little bitch, there's pussy mode mods that add a map and free life refills.

I actually finished it for the first time like 2 years ago. Could never do it as a kid but I wanted to finish it as an adult. The biggest problem with the game, aside from hallways looking the same, is actually the second area of the game (Kraid I think). The yellow color palette and so many bomb spots being one tile higher than the floor is just bad design. But after that, it becomes way easier.

Zero Mission is an improvement in nearly every way, except the free exploration.

>>747589645
Your mom is unplayable in the current year, and I have low standards. Whalefats, mega uglies, the town bike who gets around on a borrowed bike, schizs, chicks getting over a husbandsuicide-abortion-divorce.
>>
>>747589645
it's fun to bust out some graph paper and map it out
automaps are overused
>>
>>747589645
super metroid is also unplayable
>>
>>747602218
And old pasta, but relevant here.
>Metroid was originally an FDS game, so it couldn't take advantage of more advanced MMC chips. Even if you discount that, copy-pasted areas in Metroid are DELIBERATELY copy-pasted because the entire point of the world is that it's supposed to be disorienting and confusing. If you pay close attention to the map, you notice that rooms start out looking similar before changing the further you go in, this is done to make you feel like a rat in a maze.
>Metroid is an example of the developers wringing absolutely everything they could out of the limited storage space and resources available. It's a masterclass of game design.
