Everything is designed to be a pristine vessel for you to spend 10 hours a day inMost companies use psychology rather than good game design to get you investedIs there objectively any real difference between playing retro games every day vs. modern games? Maybe not, but it all definitely feels more cynical now.And at least with old games they usually had clear endings that encouraged you to get on with your life/experience other games rather than just play the same shit every day out of obligation.Basically, I just can't play modern AAA games anymore because I always feel like they're trying to sell me something.
>I always feel like they're trying to sell me something.Congratulations, you grew up. AAA games are and have always been products.
nothing to be ashamed of. just play boomer games.

Modern AAA just sucks but I think it’s natural that once an industry gets too big that oversaturation of generic properties becomes an issue
I find myself liking shorter arcadey games
>>747591164With Crash maybe the character design is cynical but the game itself is just a really good platformer that takes like a few hours to 100% and respects your time (in a real sense, not in the modern sense where people think you need to have a million checkpoints and never have any setbacks)
