Legit questions here
- Are the offices fixed yet (cant import software, without demolishing 90% of non-software building offices they always end up abandoned)
- Are the cargo train traffic spams fixed/entrances fixed?
- Do the hearses work properly yet (most dont send hearses out with dead people around)?
- Do the emergency shelters work?
- is the tourism viable or is it still "spend 300 000 upkeep/mo on building to attract 200 tourists"?

>>747593408
Not bad, I haven't really stuffed the downtown with high density yet so it hasn't been pushed to the limits. I have a little tram line that runs around the region which seems to keep traffic down
I regretted starting on that map though since it was too flat so I wound up starting over

Does the traffic AI still suck?
Picrel: I remember doing some tests with a highway where most of the traffic would jam up on the man offamp for hours and hours during rush hours, so I build some more offramps to relieve the pressure but it did almost nothing.

PIcrel I watched many cars take the main offramp instead of the completely clear secondary offramp even when the distance needed to travel would be lower and it would be 10x faster due to no congestion. All the traffic seemed to just cram in at the main entrance from the beginning of the game.

The traffic doesn't perform in an authentic way and pigeon holds you into planning roads in a certain way after watching 40 minute youtube video tutorials.

What I think it should simulate is the longer a sim lives in your city and particular section of the city and is a driver their knowledge of the roads around the city should go up and improve their AI. For instance if they know Offramp A is packed as fuck at rush hour every weekday they should know to take Offramp B or C because even though distance traveled is larger, little to no traffic would cut their commute by a huge amount.

list everything thats been changed for the better and all the issues that were fixed starting with everything related to traffic
>>
>>747595159
>>747595428
I would have to see your cities to see the kind of issues you were having, but I have not had any issues with traffic shoehorning in to one lane and not moving because of it

You don't get a second first impression. If your game isn't ready for prime time, I'm not gonna reevaluate my opinion now that some faggot e-celeb made a video essay on how "X is actually good now!"
CS1 and SimCity 4 still exist, as do dozens of other city builder games. I think I'd rather just play those instead.
>>
>>747595662
wrong answer parashill
>>
>>747595159
vanilla traffic AI is based entirely on the shortest route based on speed limits
if your main route is a road type with a higher speed limit than the secondary route and the distance is long enough that might be causing your issue
or you could install Traffic Manager PE which improves the traffic AI to fix this at the cost of way more CPU usage

>You don't get a second first impression.
Bro, its not 2005 anymore, dozens of games have reinvented themselves and escaped their initial poor reception and had a second chance.

No Man's Sky
Cyberpunk 2077
Battlefront II
Fallout 76
FFXIV

and now you can add Skylines 2 to the list of decidely engoodened games.

I bought CS1 years ago but amount of autism needed to maintain a functional road system after you reach a certain size turned me off. Is 2 better in this regard or is it worse?
>>
>>747595662
I was playing a pirated copy years ago maybe that was it. However, I remember running into similar problems in CS1. +50 hours city having massive problems, tried for hours to create more roads or more offramps, did nothing. Tried to create public transit, sorta relieved some traffic pressure but cars still packed for hours on like 1-2 bottlenecked areas.
>>
>>747596296
damn it's that simple? For an intelligent driver there is much more to it than that.

For example I grew up in my city I still live in and I've been driving for 20 years. I know the main areas quite well. There are numerous scenarios where shortest distance would never equal shortest drive time. I retain knowledge on which roads to avoid during certain times, backup/detour routes, and major highways, approximte number of traffic lights per potential route etc..

I can get to where I want to go as quickly as possible each time despite sometimes driving a significantly larger distance distance.

Some people are forced to sit in rush hour on the main highway I get it its unavoidable.

Call me when someone has the common sense to do a Streets-knockoff spinoff for their city builder game.
>>
>>747591437
They sold all this DLC, then released a sequel with very little of the stuff they added into the first game.

For any would be game developers out there; this is the absolute first thing you should do if you every plan on releasing a sequel and want to avoid it flopping. Make sure your game is better than your first to actually incentivize people to switch over.

>>
>>747591437
I enjoyed CS1 years ago but have only heard nothing but bad things about the sequel. Beyond the traffic pathing being shit and the washed out colors what are the other main issues with this game?
