He's still the best way to initially experience the town since the other two characters, Haruspex and Changeling, are expected to know more about what's going on and have have slightly harder gameplay as well

If I remember right the original primarily hands its quests out through a letter delivery system each day, more or less saying that X is looking for you and wants to chat, so try not to sleep for too big stretches of time during the day or you may find yourself without enough time to walk across town and see what they want. There's also an ancient .pdf guide that serves as a pretty spoiler free guide on where to go each day if you'd like more help. It wasn't too uncommon to use it back in the day when the translation was much worse than Classic HD's

Just play Pathologic 2 and Pathologic 3. They are superior in every possible way, avoid the retarded twist with the children, and the Changeling's playthrough is NOT worth it.
