The cable is not the difficult part, it's routing it through the walls/attic/basement
Modern wifi is perfectly fine so long as you have a strong signal.

Right. OP forgot you play on the McDonalds wifi and would want to connect to their router, too. Fair enough, move along.

No. Why are you lying? Objectively wifi will always lag and buffer more than an ethernet cable. ESPECIALLY in games where every frame counts, such as fighting games

Real gamers only use wired gear. I've been down the rabbit hole of wireless and it simply just not worth it. And I had such a bad experience that I literally transitioned all my devices to wired or if they require charging it has to be removable batteries.

I have a digital camera that takes batteries. I have a portable CD player that takes batteries.
All my headphones are wired obviously.

I only use ethernet now. My keyboard is just a simple $10 Logitech membrane because I realized mechanical ones were memes and keyboards themselves are disposable if you're a real gamer because you constantly spill drinks on them. I use an old Logitech gaming mouse and that's what I use for gaming. I use wired Corsair headset which is good enough

All this tech that relies on batteries recharging and wireless is just a gimmick. And it doesn't necessarily have to relate to wireless things new things in general just are enshittified. For example I bought a msi oled monitor and it has the OLED care and that thing goes off all the time and it's annoying as hell.

Is your cable 100% Perfect-Surface Silver with Solid High-Density Polyethylene (PE) insulation for critical signal-pair geometry????
I thought not. You may as well be using smoke signals you utter philistines. I can't believe I share the same internet with such troglodytes.

If its your house just start drilling, all you need it a spade bit. If you're pulling vertical you don't even need to drill walls just find a closet, drill the floor, drill the ceiling, and pull it through. If you're pulling horizontal you only need a drywall saw.

>>
>>747601213

>>
>>747601213
the issue isn't the cable itself, it's the wiring in the house. Unless you have a very new house and explicitly asked for it, you probably don't have cat6 in your interior walls and ethernet ports in all your rooms.

>just do the wiring yourself bro
Yeah, I did. ran new coax from the outside through the crawlspace to where I wanted my modem/router placed, and then created ethernet jacks and ran cable through the crawlspace to some downstairs locations I wanted. It was a huge pain in the ass, do you know how hard it is to precisely gauge where you're going to be drilling, making sure you're hitting inside the interior wall and not just drilling an exposed hole into your floorboards? But yeah, all that was doable.

Do you know what wasn't doable? routing cable to the 2nd floor. Good luck with that shit. Even with one of those super long bits it just gets stuck well before you're able to drill a hole inside the wall going through the floor from the 2nd to the 1st floor. I gave up on that and use wifi.
>>
>>747603114
It's not about speed, it's about latency and PL.
>>
>>747601323
that's $1.63 per meter
3 meters is $4.90
so pretty spot on, actually.

Op is right. Wired or get the fuck off the team, I only game with THE BEST of the FUXKING BEST. Real gamers, trained KILLERS no emotions no thought, just KILL everything insight INSTANTLY, for the whole game, non stop. We are always top of the board. We never lose. Hardcore snuff is what every game recap we play in looks like, total slaughter , literal rape of life. My kind of gamers, my team mates, and yes we all use wires.

I had a wired connection in my last house now I'm on wifi because I can't run a cable. Zero difference in connection quality in slime fighter 6.
Wifi has potential to be far worse than wired. But good wifi is fine.
I understand people not wanting to take the risk because there's so many cunts out there running 3 microwaves in between their router and the $3 2.4ghz Walmart wifi dongle while seeding a terabyte of furry porn.

I play shootan games on wifi via Starlink and still top the scoreboard.
Lag compensation makes a few extra milliseconds irrelevant as long as you have a good signal.
>>
I just ordered one, 10 meters, colored red like love to myself. Thank you very much, OP. You are the best. Sando.
>>
Pro tip: You can order almost invisible pre-terminated fibre cables from aliexpress. They're so thin that you can snake them through tiny gaps above doors, below skirting boards, etc. So you can run a cable even if you aren't willing to drill any holes.

It's cheap and not hard to set up although a little bit of research is required to make sure you're buying the right cable plus suitable fibre-copper adapters for each end. For example... this is the only pic I could find of someone holding it, but you actually want the version with blue (SC UPC) connectors not this green (APC) version. Ask on /g/ if unsure

In the days of dedicated servers everyone hated low ping bastards, now it's the opposite and because what the client says is always right, motherfuckers playing on satellite with 500ms ping win fights every time because the time to kill is lower than the time for him to even show up on their screen.

Nah, it's cheap as fuck as long as you buy the generic chinese networking gear instead of the traditional big names.
(You'll probably need two of those media converter boxes. I only ordered one since I already had a switch with an SFP port at one end.)

The angriest I’ve ever made anyone online was when I explained my “wired” internet connection - ethernet to powerline adapter, other end of powerline attached to wireless node meshed to another wireless node meshed to the router - but still insisted he was there one lagging because he was using wifi.
>>
>>747601323
anon the signal would deteriorate past 100m. you don't need an entire spool of cat6 for a home setup unless you actually do your own wiring work, just buy a premade patch cable.

I paid 100 buckaroos for one of those powerline adapters. All so I can finally stop getting matches declined when the Tekken mood strikes me. Nothing is worse than getting into the joy of some matches and then have a streak of declines because niggers see the wifi symbol. Can't blame em though
