True.
False.
Inconclusive.
It's actually exactly that good. So are the other games in the series though. MGS is kino as a franchise. No more brother wars.
it’s pretty good
>>747607752It's pretty good. Not as good as the previous two or 5 though. 4 would be better if it had more gameplay but it doesn't.
I played it first in third person and then again with the fixed camera angles. The latter is way more fun and challenging
It's the best game in the series because it focuses more on gameplay and less on story, in fact it has the worst story
>>747607752I tend to agree. It is a good game but compared to mgs 1 and 2, it's story isnt as good and bosses aren't as fun. It's map is pretty fun to explore and has decent enemy placement but in particular, 2's struts were all built out as little sections of stealth puzzles. It felt like a stealth game more than an espionage movie. The camo system in 3 was alright too. Has there ever been a boss fight in the series as unique as Fat Man? Once you know the spots he plants the c4, it's the same every time but on that first playthrough it's intense. Especially the very ending realizing you have to move him to diffuse the final bomb.
>>747607752It does feel like a stepback playing it right after 2. The whole 2nd act is basically filler without enough interesting characters and twists to keep it interesting. The Cobras are bad meme characters. Major downgrades compared to the depth of FOXHOUND and Dead Cell.Gameplay is too slowed down by making maps bigger and more focused on natural environment, removing the radar and vision cones, and having to constantly go into menus for camo, food, and medicine.
>>747609297People either shit on Fatman or forget he exists.I love this goofy dude he's an artist.
>>747607752I think it is good but I'm going to be honest, i don't enjoy playing it. Stealth games feel a little too all-or-nothing, i don't feel like there is any nuance and in the moment you aren't really making many actions or choices. I feel like a mixed approach to stealth where it is used to minimise resource use and where failed stealth can still place you better than not using stealth at all, and where stealth can't always be successful, is more interesting than a game purely about the ideal of never being seen with poor integration of the failure state
MGS2 has peak story and atmosphere. MGS3 has superior gameplay. The only things that annoy me are Volgin and Ocelot both not sniffing out Tatayana/Eva is absurd and the end chase going on way too long only for a stupid escort section zapping the pace.>>747609590Kojima plagiarized most of his ideas from a Japanese OVA called Angel Cop which is why MGS becomes less inspired with each entry
