What's your opinion on UT/DR fangames as a whole? You think if the fandom didn't focus on the skeletons as much as they did right now we would have other fangames like UTY? A game that got so popular it even got a japanese localization not too long ago.UT/DR adjacent games and fangames are also worth mentioning.
>>747607802I wonder if there will ever be a Japanese translation of DRY.
I think fangames in general are awesome, even if every one of them individually is not necessarily as great.as for ut/dr ones, it's mixed feelings. The above still applies completely, but they exist within a community that is very "stiffling" about ideas. not just in terms of people disagreeing about what should or shouldn't happen, but it's one of those communities where you can suggest something unusual, and the whole room, so to speak, looks at you like you just killed someone.
>>747608024It already has one, but I have no idea of how good of a translation that might be.DRY has yet to explode in popularity, which will probably happen if/once the game gets finished, the fact that it has a fully original cast (counting the UTY characters as original) also makes it harder to "market", fangames like Deltatraveler make use of DR cast which helps a lot in making more people interested on it.
>>747608107Seeing the development in UT fangames during the early years is kind of sad, at first we got a good variety of fangames with original ideas, like Red, and what ifs battles like the one with Alphys, but two years later most of the fangames turned into single fights with different Sans variants, I don't judge people for making what they want, but it does make you wonder where all the people with original ideas went.
>>747608590>but it does make you wonder where all the people with original ideas went.consider how a lot, not all but a lot of the old creatives from 4chan started to distances themselves as the site got more hostile to OC, and then see how the UT fanbase got more hostile to takes that don't fit what they think is acceptable. While there's a lot of good creators still around, a significant portion of the fanbase basically clubbed the rest of itself over the head to push it into an idea of what's acceptable. I've seen people mourn the state of the fandom saying things like "I miss the way it was in 2015"
>>747608590I really liked the "Battle against a Think Tank" fangame. Anybody remember that?
>>747608590most of the people with original ideas probably gave up after all the prequel soul fangames died, which is sad to think about
>>747608858I liked how the violent path in that fangame goes with the idea that the player is doing the genocide route because they like fighting, feels more accurate than what UT does by saying that you did it out of curiosity. Some people probably did do it for that, but I'm sure most people wouldn't play the genocide route if there were no original battles in it.
>>747608856>the UT fanbase got more hostile to takes that don't fit what they think is acceptable.I think it was less that they got hostile and more like the original takes didn't get as much attention as swap AUs that become more and more popular over the years. We can't forget that one of the biggest pieces of fancontent from the fandom was Glitchtale and that wasn't good, it was a bit more original than your average AU but it was still centered around the genocide route.
>>747609560>I think it was less that they got hostile and more like the original takes didn't get as much attention as swap AUs that become more and more popular over the years.what you're saying is probably true 'as well' but they absolutely became more hostile. Remember in the early fandom it was normal to depict fisk and chara as he/she/they whatever you wanted. There was purity testing in 2015 but it's not even comparable in scope or magnitude to what it became, and that kind of behavior does run some people off
>>747607802too estrogenic
Even the original takes aren't safe from being unoriginal
>>747609865DRY, Naranja, Oldentale and the other local fangames are going to give it a testosterone injection, just wait.
>>747609779The thing is that most people don't stay for very long on a fandom, I imagine a lot of "normies" left one or two years after the release, which gave space to the neo puritans that were always there, it doesn't help that people that were into that gender stuff 10 years ago mutated and became even more belligerent to those that didn't follow their rules. Which is why today we have people that will try to murder you if you don't comply with their gender studies.
>>747610494>Axis after realizing he's the most ignored character in UTY's cast
>>747610006Yeah, you just wait until I have my heavy metal genoslides battle where you beat a monster to death while spitting one liners.
>>747608378Imagine there being a Japanese UT and DR fangames community on two channel or some other Japanese image board
>>747610845Dusttrust X already beat you to it, and so did that fangame before Dusttrust and the fangame even before that one. They are just missing the one liners.
>>747608590Its probably more that their inspiration ran out. The community didn't encourage ideas like those, so no more were made.
>>747610659>the most ignored characterBecause there are zero things to complain about him or his area. Steamworks was just that well made
>>747610957Right now they are discussing how much the ending in UTY sucked while praising everything else, meanwhile they have an anon taking requests and doing a lot of Clover x Kanako art, which will in turn inspire one programmer there to make a true lab fangame in Godot for UTY in which you save Kanako...
>>747608856Aside from yuri and gender wars, are there any instances of this creative repression killing games or cool ideas you can think of?
>>747611051>Because there are zero things to complain about him or his area. Steamworks was just that well made>doing your job too well gets you ignoredScary, imagine the remote possibility of that happening with any of the fangames here, makes me think of what would have happened if UTY had a decent but kind of boring ending, would we still be talking about it?
What do you retards think of going back to >>>/vrpg/ or, better yet, fucking off to >>>/vg/ which is the dedicated board for general, recurring threads.
>>747611094nta, I think it was less that it directly killed fangames and more like it drove away a lot of people that could have made fangames
>>747611094I know you said "aside from gender wars", butI've seen multiple times in writing circles like on the various writing channels/servers where people will kind of overreact to something that is a perceived sleight against normality. I saw someone discussing a ut related story once, call frisk he, and got jumped on for it.there's a foreign person shipping toriel and asgore that got swarmed because his language didn't have gender neutral so when it got translated to "he" in reference to kris. ideas that aren't really about the idea of gender getting the hammer because the favored gender runes weren't spoken.saw someone that I personally can't stand get mobbed for wanting to depict kanako as racist and while I couldn't stand them, I mean I'm not going to act like them getting mobbed over something like that is reasonable you know?creatives get attacked by the barking dogs when you say things wrong (speaking in your own language)
>>747611197This community was kickstarted by people who spent an entire year dumbfounded by the pacifist ending. So many discussions of how it could have been better that eventually lead to people trying original works. So yeah, if it was good people would have moved on fast. Only way for good to stay in discussion is for it to be REALLY good and outstanding, like the skeleton bros or Spamton.
>>747611080> Right now they are discussing how much the ending in UTY sucked while praising everything elseFrom what I’ve seen they’ve loved all the endings and haven’t really seen much negative commentary from them so, don’t know where you’re getting this, are you just assuming?
>>747611246hey buddy, this isn't a general. sorry you got it wrong again though!
>>747608858Are there any videos of this full game? Because all I can find are ending compilations.
>>747611459anon, the entire post was a joke about the 2chan reaction mirroring the initial reaction UTY had on people here
>>747609880Sometimes I worry I've copied UTY too much with how many foxes Ive included. I didn't intend to copy it, but it seems like that may have happened by accident.
>>747607802>Deltatraveler YellowWasn't this fucking canceled?
>>747611598I think but I saw some people do fan art of it recently.
>>747611553Oh ok, thanks for clarifying.
>>747611459>From what I’ve seen they’ve loved all the endings and haven’t really seen much negative commentary from them soThat's to be expected, japs unironically think dying is badass so they would support Clover's decision
>>747611642>>747611598the original take was just with UTY clover and kanako, this one is with DRY1 characters (but likely is just a mockup and not a real game)
>>747610962No, not emo whining with screamo music. I mean Schwarzenegger one liners, with chiptune Pantera blaring in the background like its Doom. Real metal.
>>747611598iirc, it was cancelled years ago, the drawing in the OP is just fanart of a what a Deltatraveler yellow would look like if it were based on the Deltarune Yellow fangame
>>747611651Don’t forget relatable, what with Japan’s relation with suicide rates.
>got a flu this weekend>too tired/sick to work on my writingborn to die, world is a fuck
>>747611750emo whining and screamo music are edgier than regular metal and action here one liners
>>747611553Maybe someone should check their vidya board and see what they think of it.
>>747611452even if the fangames here don't end up doing anything controversial people would still bring them up from time to time, so in a way they are safe from that effect, can't say the same from the other fangames outside of here
>>747611827my condolences anon. I'm trying to sit down and write, but I have that indescribable sense of doom squirming around in my chest making it fairly difficult to make go happen.
>>747611428>saw someone that I personally can't stand get mobbed for wanting to depict kanako as racistWho? Do you have any of his racist Nakos?
>>747611827>>got a flu this weekendWas it bird flu? heheGet well soon anon
>>747611478You make this thread every single week. You already have a thread on >>>/vrpg/ that reaches thousands of posts each time. This is a general and the jannies need to wake the fuck up and exile you to your pigsty.
>>747612006I do not. I tried looking for it afterwards but I assume that they deleted their posts since people tend to do that when they get told "no" in any fashion on the internet these days.
>>747611849We're talking about testosterone. Emos are low T.
>>747612071not a general, unique topics, spaced out discussions to respect the rules, it's a normal thread by people who love video games (unlike you for some reason).
>>747611697>This oneIs there any more info on it?
>>747612071Really a week? A space of a fucking week is too much for you? How the fuck do you cope with GTA or OOT remake threads?
>>747612071>STOP HAVING FUN!
>>747611428Yeah, that all sounds very horrible>there's a foreign person shipping toriel and asgore that got swarmed because his language didn't have gender neutral so when it got translated to "he" in reference to kris. You know, there's this fujo girl in the DRY reddit that has refereed to Kris as a he in the past, you can tell her main language is spanish from some of her other posts, the thing is that when she called Kris a he, no one in the sub pointed it out, I can only imagine that a war will start in that sub once DRY gets more popular.
>>747611950good luck on your dreams>>747612021maybe bird flu, maybe bat flu, who knows
>>747612146Point to the part of /v/ rule 6 that specifies the interval between threads before it counts as a "general." I'll wait.>>747612235Whataboutism is not a valid form of argument.
>>747612278>good luck on your dreamsyou as well anon, I hope you feel better soon.
>>747611697Maybe someone should make a fanfic of this if they don’t have it in them to make a game
>>747612120>Emos are low T.And somehow they still have more Test than your average UT/DR fan from twitter and reddit
jannies delete it/deltarune on sight but protect yellow threads. I'm noooticing
>>747612291According to your logic a thread can never been made again if a topic has been discussed frequently in the past

>>747612291long term reoccuring refers to back to back threads existing longterm. by not existing long term, they are not long term. Sorry I know you're new to this website but the general rule was created due to threads that were on /v/ (not other boards mind you!) that were up 24/7 and never took breaks in between. I know this is confusing to someone who isn't familiar with 4chan's unique culture and history, but I'm glad I could clear that up for you!And it's ok if english isn't your first language and you didn't realize all that at first, I hope that this helped.
>>747612382UTY gets deleted too but since its an offshoot it isn't as easy to notice
>>747612342And my fans will all be high T chads who listen to metal and smoke stogies
>>747612382They deleted multiple threads in a row last week
>>747612382oh it's you again with this thread war nonsense (even though most of our threads get deleted and we try less often to have threads).I'm not sure why you like to push this narrative but it wont work.
>>747612382Janny kun, we aren't falling for your shit stirring.
>>747612483I remember when that one week someone was screaming about how yellow threads never get deleted, and then the thread got deleted like 20 minutes later.
>>747612382Everybody here can notice painfully lazy divide and conquer nonsense from people not as smart as they think they are.
>>747612483Your threads need not exist. You have a healthy discussion thread on /vrpg/ that receives thousands of posts with each iteration.
>>747612563>>747612407
>>747612382I got a warn and a 3 day for last week's thread. And two following threads got deleted.
>>747612563hey buddy, threads on another board have nothing to do with what's allowed on /v/!Sorry I know that's confusing but that's why the general rule, that you linked for us (thank you!) says that "this is not to say threads about specific games cannot be created on /v/"but hey, again I'm here to clarify things for you. you're welcome.
>>747612483You also post a call to invasion each time you make one of these threads on /v/, summoning the entire thread to raid /v/ for, again, no reason. There is no need. Why bother when you have a perfectly functional thread already on /vrpg/?
>>747612382I think it's because these threads are usually really slow and barely about the actual games if it even has discussion of them, so jannies don't realize they're related and let these threads off the hook.
>>747612291>Whataboutism is not a valid form of argument.Yes it is retard and you're a dumbass for actually using that term. You either say "that's a false equivelance" and explain why, or you say "that's bad as well" and explain why you aren't going over there and addressing this clearly bigger issueBut you won't do either of those things because you're the one who isn't interested in making a valid argument. Also hey how about you read the rule you just posted yourself. The part that specifically points out that it shouldn't be targeting threads based on the game they're about.
>>747612670Your posts need not exist. You have a healthy board called /lgbt/ that receives thousands of faggy posts just like yours every day.
>>747612563>thousands of postsThat's exactly why this thread needs to exist. /Vrpg/ is too slow. Threads there take weeks to die, and have a low image limit.
>>747612670>You also post a call to invasion>invasionhey did you know that posting between the different boards isn't an invasion? Image boards were designed so that you could use the different boards, and actually even collaborate between the boards sometimes!that's stuff 4chan used to do all the time but people like you are bitter and angry and like to misinterpret the rules.>Why bother when you have a perfectly functional thread already on /vrpg/?because this thread and that thread both respect the rules of this website mr. hall monitor.

>>747612957So what? Every kaizo mario rom hack misses the point of the level design philosophy of the official games and that's the whole point.
>>747612986it's not a raid, it is collaboration done by members of both boards. thats the distinction.

>>747613054>It think it depends if that was their intention or notI think with how uty avoided meta elements, that its story was intentional, though it did have flaws that were entirely on it.

>>747613221they do show up a little that's true, but I remember there being a statement where they intentionally didn't lean into them and avoided gaster stuff (this is at least a very good move for the time).
>>747611585UTY didn't invent foxes, kitsunes aren't the only fantastical foxes eitherI prefer when the monsters are based on less common creatures but if all fangames had to use unique creatures all the time we would run out of animals quickly, or at least run out of animals that people care about

>>747613656looks like it, despite this thread not breaking any rules, and being expressly on topic, they would much prefer the site being anti video games.
>>747613383Pretty easy to do after chapter 5 self sabotaged so hard.
