I do think that choosing to leave with Kenny is the canon ending. It is impossible to end this because the status quo is going to remain the same; they go somewhere, people die, etc; so why not finish up with a bitter-sweet ending where Kenny and Clem get a family? They were building this overarching moral theme too, and in my opinion it is also solved here. I dont get why season 3 exists.
