>original dev comes out and publicly says that the remake is exactly how they envisioned the game to originally be like were it not for technical limitations at the timeWhat do you do then /v/? Will you accept the ORIGINAL DEV's words or will you continue crying and shitting yourself all over the internet?
>>747610294Name 1 (one) dev
>>747610294The amount of time that passes between a game and its remake is enough time to radically change a developer into a totally different person. I don't consider their word to have any authority the same as I wouldn't consider anyone else working on the remake to have authority on the matter.
>>747610475*posts some japanese faggot that would be pemablacklisted from everything forever if he went against company rules*
>>747610294"The original vision" is a "can't imagine an apple in their head" take. Art is vague ideas that constantly change as you try to realize them. Watch any DIY video for proof.
>>747610294What if the original dev is old and senile?
>>747610591*posts an image that says "checkmate /v/"
>>747610294name 5 (you can't even name 1)
>>747610475John Carmack. Doom was never meant to stay 2D not even for the original devs but it's all computers could do back then and the "nudoom" haters are all retarded.
>>747610575So who the fucks authority do you take? Random shitposter on /v/ #627?
If that isn't just a marketing tactic to boost sales of the new product, then I support it. But I have a feeling it probably is in a lot of cases. Reboots/remakes are justified in terms of how 'outdated/problematic' the original was, where that's often simply an exaggeration that is used to convince people that the new version is the definitive one and you should buy it now.
>implying any shit are given about what that dev wantsThat serf isn't paying, I am.
>>747610294>original dev likes money and wants to make more money>bullshits about original vision when such a vision couldn't have existed and his actual vision was what could be done with the platform he was developing on>trash product sells and developer makes the money he envisioned
>>747611069Theres a difference between between 3D and being a 3D bullet hole simon says toddler arena shooter. He still makes money off the Doom name so of course hes going to say whatever the latest Doom is is actually the best thing ever
>>747611281>>bullshits about original vision when such a vision couldn't have existed and his actual vision was what could be done with the platform he was developing ont. apple tier 1
>>747611135God.
>>747611135Make your own judgements if you have any taste. You really think a dev envisioned a worse game than the original product? 95% of remakes and remasters are trash and you want to keep falling for it?
>>747610294Everything good is good by accident. Every creative is just a monkey with a typewriter. They don't understand what makes things good.Do you think I'm gonna listen to Avelone or Sawyer about what makes New Vegas good? I wish I could kill them both so they wouldn't fuck up my New Vegas discussion by eventually introducing a schism between smart players like me and remake trannies flooding our smart discussions.
>>747611069no nigger computers could do it but average computers couldnt and he wanted lowest common denominator for max sales especially with shareware. only when "id software" was a popular name could he ask for better hardware for doom 2 and quake
>>747611135AI
>>747611465This line of thinking is absurd. Of course they knew what they were designing, it was THEIR vision.
>/v/ thinks they know better than the literal guy who made the game in the first placeHoly shit is this a new low for this place?
>>747610294>falling for marketingngmi
>>747611939>the literal guy who made the game in the first place20 years later. He's not the same guy.
>>747610294They always say this shit and it's just marketing
>>747610294Death of the author.
>>747611673Oke.
>>747610294Remember when Bill Murry said Ghostbusters (2016) was a good reboot of the original film?Did you accept his words then? Did you really believe him?
>>747612063Mental gymnastics
The only remake that I like are those made BY the original team, as a retrospective over their careerLike Rance 01 and 03
>>747612710I like Trials of Mana. That was a remake done right.
>>747610294Understand that the ORIGINAL DEV was paid a lot of money to say those words and I would as well. What do you think Bill Murray was really really excited about Ghostbusters 2016?
>>747610294>Will you accept the ORIGINAL DEV's wordsNo, because once the original author has finished a work, what he thinks is irrelevant, and the work speaks for itself.A recent example of this was that funny case of Amelia, from that British game about racism. Amelia has by far become everyone’s favorite character in the game, and now it no longer matters what the creators intended for her, what matters is what the work makes Amelia represent.
>>747610294>What do you do then /v/?I will assume they are being blackmailed to endorse the new product so it sells better Unless there's specific evidence from the past that suggest otherwise
>>747613923That's not how that works
>>747614450It is exactly how it works. If the artfag wants to stay the sole authority about his work? He is welcome to just keep it and not sell copies.Once that is done, things are literally out of his hands
>>747610294>Muh Word Of God trope
>>747610475Itsuno, Dragon's Dogma vs. Dragon's Dogma II
>>747610475Pathologic 2. It’s basically the definitive way the devs wanted to original to play and look and it is basically an improvement in every way
>>747610294Developer intent has not ever mattered for video games.
