So it's ok if Batman does it?
Batman is a detective tho
and he's doing something cool like using tech to analyze a bullet trajectory
>So it's ok if Batman does it?as opposed to whom, Harry Disco Elysium? yes because bamham is a based authoritarian
>>747612583>Authoritarian VigilanteNo, this isn't one of the continuities where he's an officially and legally appointed Deputy of the Gotham PD under Gordon, either.
>>747610821Batman vision still sucks. Apparently it was ok when Dishonored did it too, but it was far more unforgivable for apparently having a stealth focus. Practically every game did it during that period. Arkham Asylum started a really shitty trend at the time.
>>747610821Batman was both the first and the best iteration of this mechanic because he actually used it for detective work like your pic, retard.Witcher vision is retarded and that mechanic along with its devs need to be flushed>>747612892At least this one is a power you purchase and use on your own, and is by no means required to play, because back then devs knew how to visually design environments to make certain elements stand out
Tomb Raider 2013 copied Batman Arkham Asylum too.
>>747610821Batman is a detective, and he uses it for detective stuff like tracing a bullet trajectory and following bloody footsteps, instead of yellow vomit that covers every traversable surface or floats in mid air. It's all about immersion.
>>747613306Rise of the Tomb Raider and I'm pretty sure even Shadow still continued to use it too.
>HULK INVESTIGATE CRIME SCENE
I wasn't a fan of Hitman adopting it personally either. I literally pick the highest difficulty on Absolution so it's basically just disabled and worthless information, along with the whole UI on purist.
Yes, nobody having regurgitated it for ~17 years already is sort of making a slight difference
>>747610821Batman was cool when he used conventional and sometimes odd tools, none of this high tech reddit shit
>>747610821People shit on "BATMAN VISION" back then too. You dont even get to do any proper detective stuff in the arkham games, its just "ACTIVATE BATMAN VISION TO SEE CLUES" and the clue is right in front of youThat one section in your image is sort of excusable because it acts as a tutorial of detective vision but its never used for anything interesting later on. A common complaint was "There's little reason to turn it off because you can see enemies better with it"
>>747613813The new Hitman does it right. In Absolution this was tied to a bunch of other changes that shifted the game toward a stealth shooter along with a lack of classic Hitman-style levels. Still, I think it was a good game but a bad Hitman.
>>747610821Yes, he's the goddamn Batman.
>>747610821no, it's always been a shitty gimmick
>>747614230are you retarded? he has a fucking jet and a car with a jet engineall of his shit is high tech
>>747616368I was talking about his tools
People literally called all of the retarded handholdy crap in AAA games back then "Batman vision" because it was synonymous with garbage.
>>747610821He did it almost 20 years ago. It was new then, and it fit the character. The problem isn't with Batman, as a detective, having a magical "detective vision" mode. The problem is this same mechanic being shoe-horned in to countless other games since from developers who are trying to recapture the success of the Arkham games, whether the "detective vision" mode makes sense in their game or not.
120mm sniper?
>>747610821Yes...
Whilst not the same thing as a detective mode imo TLOU's listen mode was a similar thing with trivializing enemy positions. That being said i don't think the series was ever well crafted for stealth so it's probably not as egregious if you were playing a game that was actually designed around it. Witcher 3 on the other hand had the actual detective mode from what i recall.
