This is American inflation/salary thing right ? You can make decent AAA games for less than $5 million anywhere else

>>747615018How the fuck was Nigger-Man more expensive than the first game despite being pretty much just a big DLC for it?
Maybe with slave labor
>>747615224Blood and Sweat make better video games
>>747615205IIRC the big leak of internal files from Insomniac years ago that had early Wolverine footage and details of the cancelled live-service Spidey game mentioned that Sony dictated the budgets and not the devs. They actually asked to not have such a large budget for 2 but were told to just use it all. I have to imagine Miles was the same because it was their first PS5 game and released in the launch window and Sony wanted it to be polished up all shiny despite there being a world where it cost half as much and sold just as well.

>>747615018Imagine giving 100 employees a $100k salary, that will equal $10,000,000 million after a year. A game taking five years will cost $60m. A lot of the games that bomb have more employees than 100 and also take longer than 6 years. So even if they're successful they still fail.Remote work would have reduced the costs, but it would have been pointless for corporations to rent/purchase the buildings that they leased. Thereforez they pay their employees more so that it is afford to live in extremely expensive housing.
>>747615018Wasn’t Halo Infinite legitimately half a billion dollars?
>>747615376do you think that c suites intentionally set up devs for failure?
Just hire some Asian people. They can survive for years with Tofu and Rice alone
>>747615018You gotta pay the diversity hires that stand around and do nothing their salary ao they don't get bored and start having crazy ideas like writing code.
the actual game cost of the game itself is still no more than maybe 10 millionbut then there's advertising budget, licensing the characters and any music in the game (you NEED some popular chart topping music), micro celebrity voice actors, payroll for thousands or tens of thousands of employees (and CEOs) only at most 10% actually even touch the game and the rest are just corporate bloat...I mean idk manhow do you not know all this by now?are you retarded or something?
>>747615532No, they are merely stupid and think big money = bigger money. I do think sometimes devs get intentionally sabotaged, but that's like less than 10% of the time and usually to weaken a studio so you can acquire them for cheap.
>>747615642We dont need those crap
>>747615018AAA publisher executives have a blockbuster mentality where they make a few grandiose games and they expect the games to make more money than what they put in, and they keep delegating this process to the point the actual development process is kind of miserable and there's a few managers between a developer and whoever's in charge of the vidya. Because of the need to make their money back the games are designed to be as accessible as possible to sell to as many people as possible. They treat vidya development like a business that makes money rather than something to do for fun which is why they're quick to shut down studios even when the publishers themselves have money in the billions, they don't really engage with the games they make, they just want to maximize money. They closed down a lot of subsidiary studios over the years for making less expensive but more varied vidya or forced them to contribute to blockbuster games (such as Raven Software being forced to work on CoD) so their primary output by now is bland as fuck games with fancy graphics, and even the smaller studios can rarely afford to make anything interesting or experimental because if they release anything that doesn't sell a lot they're fired. I don't think they're laid off (there's an actual term distinction) because it implies the publisher would lose any significant amount of money over their continued operation.
>>747615018Can i have $500k at least. Please ???
>>747615018You can bet your ass /v/ could create a better game with perhaps half the cost and less experience in making games than this frontal failure of 5 banner games
>>747616530The last time a AAA gaming came to /v/ for advice, they put Dinosaurs in their game.
>>747615018Outsource it to Indi- oh wait.....
