I want the gameplay of this but in a sandbox with more shit to do
>>
>>747620893
This was intentional so you couls get an advantage if you payed attention to the opening credits. It also spoils the Big Boss twist at times, which is aweaome
>>
>"Facts do not exist, there are only interpretarions" quoted in the ending
>yet people take the mission labeled "Truth" after the Ministry of Truth from 1984 as objective fact and reality, in a game where you play a PTSD riddled schizophrenic with brain damage, confirmed hallucinations, and brainwashing
There is a non-zero chance the events of the game are the real Big Boss hallucinating everything, the same way MGS2 makes you question if you are in a VR simulation, and a lot of people miss this theme. You're supposed to question everything the first time around, and then the game closes by neatly tying all the mystery together and offering a convenient "truth."
>>
>>747621018
same and I actually believe we'll never get another 3rd person shooter with controls and movement and options as good as mgsv, very sad shit.
>>
>>747621871
but the controls and movement suck.
>>
I loved the game but didn't like how most of the story was told through the tapes. I felt like we got so much less in terms of cutscenes compared to the other games, even MGS1 had more drama
>>
>>747621941
compared to what?
>>
>>747620525
>MGS 3
>we'll never get gameplay like this

Great game, terrible MGS game.
>>
>>747622059
i don't need to make a comparison to know that a lack of meaningful toggle options are bad controls.

yeah you do.

>I want the gameplay of this but in a sandbox with more shit to do
You can somewhat improve the sandbox with mods.

With the Infinite Heaven mod you can pump the world full of patrols, animals and other stuff to flesh it out, there's a ton of options and new features.

With the Subsistence mod it basically re-designs the entire sandbox experience around OSP/survival with new mechanics and a more contained gameplay loop where you stay in the sandbox for much longer rather than dipping in/out constantly in the chopper.

Bunch of new modding tools just got released (hilarious given it's been a decade) that finally allow people to really start adding proper new content as well rather than just replacing existing stuff, people have also ported the Ground Zeroes map and similar missions to MGSV. It's not as good as Ground Zeroes obviously, but it's still pretty neat to have it all in the one game.
>>
>>747620525
"this missing final chapter" look I like this game but did we really need an entire mainline entry to explain why big boss is in mgs4 when he shows up at the very end reconnecting it to the Metal Gear games?
>>
>>747620525
Outside of the movement, everything is a downgrade from GZ
>>
>>747622068
MGS3's gameplay is a direct downgrade from 2's in just about every way.
>>
>>747622149
>Great game, terrible MGS game.
This. Amazing gameplay. Shit story with none of the cinematic kino that people expect from MGS and instead we just got endless cassette tapes.
>>
No matter what we'll always have the trailer
>>
The greatest half-finished dogshit game ever
>>
>>747622442
>explain why big boss is in mgs4 when he shows up at the very end
it's already explained in that very cutscene by him, V has absolutely nothing to do with it

no

what settings do you use for IH mod?

i wish it was structure like PW with coop and shit

I have played MGS1/2/4 like 100 times, but never MGS3 because i think the jungle aesthetic is kinda boring.
>>
>>747620525
Shit was boring, 4 was a better ending to the franchise

I wish Kojima had a "video game guy" to make his movie video games play better. They had EVERYTHING to make this one of the best video games of all time and they fumbled it over not having a proper ideas guy
>>
>>747625297
MGSV plays amazingly though
>>
>>747620525
this game not being fully realized put us in the dark timeline
>>
>>747625297
most mgs games have good gameplay but stuck in a shitty movie
these games should structure like hitman/splinter cell where you select mission and replay as much you like
>>
>>747620525
this game need better mods and A-life from stalker for its open world
>>
>>747625884
That's the structure in V, and PW I think.
>>
>>747625768
most of the missions take place in the open world, and you are encouraged to explore the open world. So either the missions feel phoned in because they are similar to an area you already explored, or the open world fells boring because you already explored the area in a more staged mission.
>>
>>747622451
Being an actual game is an upgrade imo
>>
>>747620525
Issue is that there weren't enough elaborate enough bases to infiltrate and they the outposts were all too samey. Open world focus really simplified all the bases too much. Ground Zeroes was a good start but i wanted to see more complexity and it never really happened in Phantom Pain. This is simply why linear (non open world focus) map design is better.
Kojima also allowed too much shooter leniency.
>>
>>747625768

it's shit

Like objects and NPCs not disappearing when looking around? GZ is jank with scripted bullshit everywhere, I'd know
>>
>>747627532
He's right about the actual map design being a downgrade if that's what he meant, thoughbeitever. Koji didn't make one single compound that was the equivalent to Camp Omega to my knowledge. Central base was simplistic, so too was Mfinda Oilfield. Even OKB Zero was far too simple.
Camp Omega could have been improved in regards to design complexity so it's not like he had reached perfection there either but what followed on the Phantom Pain was even simpler.
Outposts were mostly reiterations of one another.
>>
>>747620525
for shame
>>
>>747622456
Some of the cassette tapes were in themselves cinematic kino. Like an old-fashioned radio drama. Driving around in a jeep, listening to the tapes, I could see the scenes in my head.

>what settings do you use for IH mod?
I turn item drops (when an enemy dies or is knocked out they drop a random item, grenade etc) on to like 50%, but i'd also reccomend getting the new "Enhanced Interrogation Techniques" mod instead, it allows you to hold up enemies and get them to drop items or frisk them once they're on the ground, fully animated, works really well, it's such a polished mod it just feels like it was meant to be in the game.

Then I mostly just turn on all the patrol options, so patrolling guys, wildcard dudes that carry unique gear, all the vehicle types patrolling, helicopter patrols. It'll mean you'll sometimes have helicopters in side missions you wouldn't typically, or full convoys of tanks/apcs rolling around the map.

I also dial up the detection ranges for enemies etc, but only do that if you want a challenge.

I also turn resource gathering up to 1000% because after 500 hours i'm over grinding.

>read the Bible, Moby Dick, Orwell's books, Shakespeare's plays, Ulysses, Blood meridian
>none of them fill the void this game created
It lives rent-free in my head. If I had to categorize it, it's a Dionysian art form. An art form that doesn't appeal to everyone, doesn't convey comfortable conclusions, but it makes you think, feel. And Kojima is again being 'punished' for it by soulless suits, just like 11 years ago. I think I've lost my mind.
>>

>none of them fill the void this game created
a phantom pain perhaps?
>>
>>747630087

its a huge drop-off from the other MGS games from a story perspective
>>

GZ was better.

Skulls are piss easy and my shitass 2* rifle can handle them. The problem is the extreme missions. Fuckers can oneshot you, and if you're hit by the metal shard in a certain way where it stuns you just long enough you have no hope of surviving.
It's fucked how their stats are just inflated for no reason. Same deal with the black/red tanks, these will oneshot you even if the missile hits 10 meters away from you and you don't get any real warning about this.

>its ANOTHER 3 buildings in random orientations, with the same 5-7 randomly placed gaurds at this "unique" outpost
like okay the set pieces were good, but the games was built around this idea youd want to wander this featureless, barren desert wasteland. the entire game should of taken place in those giant buildings, not be 95% traveling to and from them
>>
>>747627532
>not even 100 hours on any of them
wtf
>>
>>747622415
that sounds cool should i use infinite heaven or definitive subsistence
