I think some people have to come to terms with the fact that Donkey Kong Bananza was the 3D Mario and that its going to be quite a while before the next 3D Mario game.

The way this game looks is just not selling it for me, and I'm not talking about graphics only, I mean the gameplay, walking around empty levels destroying terrain to get bananas and gold you don't need, just to create a feedback loop of "something happening" instead of actual level design. Seems like the challenge rooms (botw shrines) try to counter that but might no be enough to justify the full game...

Again, I haven't played it but this is the impression I get from the trailers and gameplay footage

What does Bananza mean for the future of Donkey Kong? The dev team behind it is obviously working on the next Mario now. Are they going to swap back and forth between making Mario and Donkey Kong games now? I hope they don't hand off "Bananza 2" to a third party like they did with Luigi's Mansion...
