>want to play the entire witcher trilogy from scratch>have completed W3 before, but it was way back in 2015 so I forgot most of it by now>boot up W1>get filtered by its archaic gameplay that makes no senseAm I the only retard facing this problem? Does it get better at W2? If yes, should I then just skip straight to W2?Also, Witcher Thread
I burned through the entirety of Witcher 1 in like a week because something about its euro-jank kinda shitty gameplay just got me hooked and I loved the world of it. It reminded me of the old Harry Potter games, sort of.I've tried to play Witcher 2 like 4 times but I keep getting bored out of my mind by the first riverside village area. I don't know what it is, but W2's jank gameplay is dull as hell compared to W1 jank.\Haven't bothered with 3 yet.
>>747637015>archaic gameplay that makes no senseTranslation:"I'm a 2000's console-kid who has never held a mouse in his hand before, AND has never played an actual ROLE-playing game".The first Witcher game is unrionically the only GOOD game in the entire trilogy. It's super cozy, fun role playing adventure, with stellar atmosphere, the best side quests, most variety in the story and endings depending on what you do, and shittons of ladies to bed. It really feels like a medieval STALKER at times! All I can say is:Stick to it. Things improve TREMENDOUSLY.>Does it get better at W2FUCK NO.TW2 is THE biggest, most insulting case of extreme consolification. Literally the source of that "We want AssCreed audiences!!" meme; no, I am not joking. It controls like ass, and cuts down and nerfs everything good in TW1, to appeal to ADHD Xbots.
>>747637015>get filtered by its archaic gameplay that makes no senselevel up intelligence to make your magic strongerdrink potion that make your magic stamina refill fasterspam igni and aardgame's over
>>747637015W1 is kino though. The combat system is not flashy but it is engaging and requires adapting to the enemy you're fighting, the alchemy system is the best in thr series, and the world is fun and varied. Admittedly the magic sucks, Aard and Quen are the only useful signs
>>747637015W1 is the only good game in the series.
>>747637015Sounds like you'll love Witcher 2, then!
>>747637015Just invest everything into Igni. Literal easy mode.
>>747637015>>archaic gameplayNGMI, skip to TW2
>>747637015>better at W2You have to invest a fucking skill point just to make your sword have a fucking hit box whereas you only hit one enemy by default with light attacks, very slight aoe with heavy attacks. And that skill is locked behind like two other skills. That alone should be evident of how out of their fucking depth CDPR was in designing an action RPG.The skill tree in general is fucking horrendous. It doesn't even tell you what a given skill's next rank effect will be meaning you're saving and loading if you're not opening a guide. To this day, the mistranslation of the crafting skill tree is still present where it states Geralt gains adrenaline while poisoned when in reality Geralt gains adrenaline as long as he drank any potion that give him toxin. The game's difficulty starts high in the first few hours only because of how much Geralt sucks in his default state. And even then it's easily curb stomped by throwing bombs and daggers. Once you have some skill points under your belt the difficulty nosedives. You can't drink potions mid combat anymore and potions in general last too fucking short even with investment. While the game usually does a good job at signposting where you will be forced into combat and alchemy materials are everywhere, it is still a fucking tedious repetition of sitting down making potion and drinking them every 10~15 minutes.tl;drWitcher 2 is just a frustratingly mediocre game.
