To be more specific, Metroid outside Prime has kinda had a problem of being almost too sparse with its characters, with barely any existing outside Samus herself and some recurring Space Pirate enemies, and everything revolves around them (but at least it's not to the point of something like Devil May Cry, aka the Dante and Vergil show). It makes sense there are few since Samus is often exploring enemy complexes and natural wilderness alone, but again, it gets to a point where there's just *nothing* outside the well-trodden familiar guys. And yet, on the opposite end, having a whole squad of new villains out to get Samus sounds dangerous. Will they all actually matter and get screentime and gravitas and improve the game by their presence, or is having them + the usual Metroid shit of exploring a 2D maze with wildlife mooks shoving too much into the standard Metroid package and diluting the possible impact of the new guys too much?Also I've seen people complain about Samus' character swinging too hard in the opposite direction after either Other M or Prime 4 with all the action and killshot animations and Metroid suck-suck, but honestly that last part has just been a long time coming since Fusion in 2002. If you want to write games after Fusion's events, you best fucking account for the fact the heroine is part Metroid now.

Reading the Prime art book now, not sharing shitty bedroom phone pics here though. Metroid Prime 1's core more resembled a Metroid earlier on and good thing they dropped that since continuity clean up means it couldn't possibly be a SR388 Metroid and merely a strong monster that had the word for Ultimate Warrior used for it. It also confirms Samus turns into energy to Morph Ball.
