This game deserves all the mockery it gets but it's also pretty unique in concept and has some cool aspects that games never really explore For example I can't really remember what was the last game with a fleshed out suburban setting like this, it's really cool seeing the town map and then the layout reflected in all the location backgrounds >can see the neighborhood from your room window >can visit all those locations like the tree fort>can see the school sports ground from inside the school>can see the park from the sports ground>can see the tattoo parlor from the park>can enter the parlor or go to the second floor or the roof>get to peek into people's windows from there>you can go into those rooms eventually It's a really interesting sense of place conveyed with only 2D backgrounds that you don't see in games anymore
I don't really feel like playing it anymore after all the memes about it and I have played a ton of other WEGs.

Games that focus on being in a small area for the entire game are generally in the minority. The larger your game's world, the less detail that can be spent on individual areas.For a game like this where it all takes place in one suburban area, of course it's going to have lots of details because all the developmental and artistic focus can be put into this one town rather than across many towns.
>>747647778True but the presentation of seeing it come together through 2D backgrounds is still fairly rare these days, you could in theory easily make this town in 3D and let players hop around and explore freely and it wouldn't feel the same despite still being small and focused
