Do I need to play Alan Wake 1 to understand this game?
Also, how does it compare to the modern 3rd person Resident Evil games? It looks very similar to it on the gameplay side.
>>
Play Alan Wake 1 then disregard this one completely. Alan Wake 1 is pretty okay, this is just pretentious and cynical baiting for ((((((((((critic))))))))))))) praise and awards that focuses on typical moviegame crap over gameplay.
>>
>>747647639
yes. you wont have a clue what Alan is getting upset about otherwise

fpbp

>>747647639
most astroturfed journalist game and it still flopped badly
>>
>>747647639
It's just a shittier resident evil. Don't waste your time and play that instead, it's better in every way.
>>
>>747647769
Sagas sections in Bright Falls were great if you just play it as an episode of X Files and ignore the Alan Wake stuff which is shit anyway
>>
>>747647769
Pretty much this. It's not a bad """game""" but it's super moviegamey. Great Twin Peaks styled atmosphere but minimal gameplay.
>>
>>747647919
Is it even worse than REmake 3?
>>
>>747647639
Alan Wake 1 is the vastly superior game, even though still MEH as fuck.
They're linear movie games with occasional mediocre shooting.

> how does it compare to the modern 3rd person Resident Evil games? It looks very similar to it on the gameplay side.
Practically the exact same shit.
>>
>>747647985
DEmake 3 is nothing more than the exact same shit as the DEmake 2 and RE7 before it, and the Demake 4 and up afterwards. It's just hilarious how much zoomer secondary hypocrites try to shit on #3 alone.

Control Resonant looks good so I'm wondering if I should try this series out since it's supposedly a shared universe.
>>
Game/series/remedyverse is great if you aren't a brainlet. The average contrarian retard here doesn't even understand Jungian archetypes, Norse mythology and metaphysics well enough to appreciate this game. Play AW1, quantum break, Control, AW2 and then you will have Control Resonant to play. If anything play AW2 to see how narrative and gameplay can be perfectly married similar to Bioshock 1. Hell the true ending is locked behind a second playthrough but the second playthrough is naturally written into the structure of the story. Check out gaming university on YT to see how deep the games are

The plot is confusing enough as it is, if you don't play the first game you'll understand nothing about this.
And yeah /v/ will tell you it has the worst gameplay ever made for some reason even though it's just a Resident Evil Remake clone, and still much more fun that Alan Wake 1's corridors for it.
>>
>>747648220
is this bait?
>>
Oh, you get Alan Wake 1 remastered with a copy of Alan Wake 2 so I might as well just get 2 I guess.
>>
Developers said on a scale of 1 to 10 how much Alan Wake stuff will be in Control Resonant is 2.5/10.
What can this mean?
>>
>>747648148
>Control Resonant looks good
...just why?
All the games nu-Remedy has shat out the past 20 year have looked and BEEN the utmost mid and generic AAA slop. And I say this as a Spurdo-fag; we're supposed to fellate and worship anything that comes out of our tiny nation.
>>
>>747648451
It looks fun to play, which is new for Remedy I think not counting MP1-2
>>
>>747648414
Alan used to live in Manhattan which is where the new game takes place, could mean anything.
>>
>>747648523
>It looks fun to play
I seriously don't understand your kind's way of thinking.
>>
>>747648598
I like 3D action games and this one looks above average and it's not a souslike and it's not a parry focused game so it automatically looks more interesting than 99% of 3D action games coming out these days.
>>
Do you think they will tie Max Payne into this Remedy universe thing with the remake?
>>
>>747648914
No chance. They might add references here & there but being owned by Take Two means they absolutely can't tie it in
>>
>>747649171
Why would they want to remake them then? It seems like they're all about this shared universe and have been for years.
Just a paycheck to keep the lights on since it took a long time for AW2 to begin making any money?
>>
I wouldn't say you need to play the first game to play AW2 but it would be better to play AW1 first.

The story in AW2 is mostly about Saga and not Alan but the lore in AW2 is based on the lore of AW1 and also some of the characters from AW1 are in AW2 or referenced.

You can still play AW2 without playing AW1 though.
>>
>>747649240
Remakes make money much more safely since they're famous games people already know, which guarantees at least moderate success. If Max Payne was still theirs you can bet Alex Casey wouldn't exist it'd literally be just max payne and alan wake
