At least with a shameless clone you can get your foot in the door because "hey that's like XYZ I liked XYZ", but where do you begin marketing something that's at least somewhat original nowadays? Almost every convention, indie showcase or influencer charges up the fucking ass for the "luxury" of sharing your trailer on their channel or a Tweet asking "here's XYZ, would you buy this?" At least once upon a time they would at least play your goddamn game.The other indies I know who put out original games are struggling too, even when they make really good games. Maybe we're all unlucky bastards, but certainly feels like it wasn't *this* bad even a few years ago.
