What would you say was the best Total War game?
>>747651886We need a total war mesopotamia
Med 2
mark of chaos battle march
>>747651886It's still Medieval 2 with mods. If unmodded, perhaps Fall of the Samurai is above.
>>747654123Which mods?>>747652108Copper or Bronze age?
Rome 2 with Divide Et Impera mod
>>747651886Warhammer, the formula is made for as much diversity in-between factions as possible.
>>747655032vanilla kingdoms is best in slot for medieval 2
>>747655508I think we've had enough of Total Warwar Hammer. Four games is more than enough.
>>7476518863k
Do whites really think of genociding others daily?
>>747659361no, hourly at least
>>747651886Overall I'd say Attila if we include expansions. Age of Charlemagne should have been the building block for later games.Too bad people got turned off by performance issues and setting, so they probably learned the wrong lessons. 3K was also promising, but they dropped the ball hard.
>>747660130It wasn't the performance issues and setting, it ran fine, looked fine, and could have been a good game. The issue was the AI being hyperaggressive and leaving their countries wide open to be ravaged by the huns so they could travel across the map to declare war on the 1 settlement player because the diplomay system was aids-tier and they were hard-coded to just ignore each-other and focus the player omegaly, to the point that it made no sense and was retarded, so the game died.
>>747651886Rome 1 and it's not even a contest.
3K, it's the ONLY game with working diplomacy.
>>747651886rome 1 europa barbarorum
>>747660449>factions aggressively targeting and attacking rich areas during the Hunnic invasion>get raped by the Huns due to thisSay it ain't so.If that was a problem people had, then they fully deserved the Total War they got after that. I bet they didn't even play TLR or AoC.
Three Kingdoms
>>747651886Pharaoh dynasties really gets slept on but I get the setting isnt everyone's thing. Also wh3 is a huge letdown and 40k is going to take years to be worth the cost
>>747651886Rome 1 because it was the one i played as a child.
>>747661548Not even rich areas, I couldn't go 3 turns without some bumfuck rando from the other side of the world declaring war on me. Like bro I've built a single building and trained 2 units.>THE GODS TOLD ME TO ATTACK YOUor some nonsense shit. it was infuriating.>landlocked and having to pass through 4 other AIs territories who are like "yep, this is fine">their army is halfway across the ocean>they lose their only territory to the huns>it's now a barren wasteland10/10 game design
>>747651886despite not giving a fuck about chinkshit i really enjoyed 3k, it actually had a functioning diplomacy for once. for a quasi historical game set in one region, the unit diversity between factions was pretty good, sieges were fun, overall a solid entry, too bad CA dropped the fucking ball completely when it comes to long term support of the gamemy second pick is FotS, kino setting, kino army compositions
>>747655032>Copper or Bronze age?
>>747662409It's almost like they're fleeing the Huns and attacking you because you look like an easy target suitably far away from the big scary invader. If you can't dissuade them by projecting strength this is what should happen historically speaking. It is in fact 10/10 game design, recreating history in broad strokes.
>>747651886Shogun 2
>>747651886Med 2, Rome, Shogun 2 (and FotS), Attila
GODS OF THE AFTERLIFE, SPARE MY ARSE!
>>747663057>let's take 1000 men and try to invade a foreign land while our entire populace is massacred, our allies do nothing for us, and our country ceases to exist before we even arrivetotal slop moment. It was over before they even began making the trip
Medieval 2 with the EX modhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVJjwT_PfDc
>>747651886Shogun 2 for me but I enjoyed Warhammer for what it was before they went full gay with the fanfic stuff.
>>747651886well warhammer ofcourse :)
>>747663801The main EX dev hadn't even played rome 1 or med 2 before letting an LLM loose on the source code lol
>>747664693vibe coding is based, though
>>747664820>claude, make the archer arrows huge and whiteI don't mind vibe coding but the dev's taste is shit
>>747651886Shogun 2 + FotSThey have a perfect balance of tactical gameplay (positioning units is important for line of fire and formations like yari wall are viable even in the late game). Map and diplomacy are shit, though.Later games feel weird - combat in them lacks impact altogether (warhammer, where units might fly 500 meters yet still stand up and return to the combat blob; in Attila poison archers are a good example - they trivialize defence, yet are still bugged 10 years after release in a way that they don't get any XP), previous ones (aside from looking ugly as sin) end before fun begins - I have found out Timurids were an actual faction 10 years later after playing M2 since none of my campaigns took me long enough to see them. Only positives for the latest games are a much better diplomacy system and better map.
Med 2 and Shogun 2/FotSIf they actually tried to fix Empire it would have been the best bar none
