Everything about No Man's Sky is the opposite of immersive, which according to the dictionary is shallow. It's really the best way to describe it.
I don't even mean just the myriad of resource dumps with unengaging gameplay, but also the game's entire presentation. I can consciously say these polygons are meant to be the inside of a cockpit and I'm supposed to be in space, but it just doesn't feel like that at all, I'm not immersed, there's no verisimilitude.

I love the concept of NMS in terms of pushing procedural generation to literal galaxy levels. But it is a bit shallow and once you pick up on that it gets pretty boring. I do appreciate the amount of love the developers continue to put into it after all these years and it's via free updates. So I applaud the company and wish others would emulate that more often.

I'm honestly suspecting they engineered the "shitty release" just so people would be aghast as they "incredible amount of content" that's just average, followed by the most minimal take of features so they can say "yes we have that"
