>the game showers you in ammo and healing items
>combat is incredibly simplistic and just involves tapping one button while the game perfectly autoaims
>changing weapons, reloading, and healing can all be done while paused removing all tension
>the progression is extremely obvious (the game even flashes/highlights where to go despite it being extremely obvious)
>every area has a detailed map even for areas you haven't been and has color coded doors
>the manhole in the kennel explicitly says you can move it wih a tool when interacted, the guy in the prison cell mentions it, the game makes the manhole tool sparkle and literally calls it "MANHOLE OPENER", when there was literally nowhere else to go and the manhole is already marked on the map anyways. Just one example but stuff like this is all over the game
>"""puzzles""" are toddler level and involve pushing three boxes into a row, moving two bookshelfs to match an illustration right next to it, and pushing a statue into a conveniently placed square (yes, those are the hardest puzzles btw)
>scenario B even reuses many of these braindead ""puzzles"" verbatim with identical solutions
>there are no higher difficulties or arrange modes
>even Max Rank only requires you to beat either scenario without first aid sprays (use the dozens of herbs instead), and with 0-6 saves and in 0-5.5h (each hour less allows you to use 2 more saves and vice versa) which is extremely generous and easy to achieve if you have even played the game once

RE4 is significantly harder in combat, and even the puzzles are harder despite being an action game.

i never played re2 but re3 completely filtered me as a kid.
i had no idea what i was even doing

It is far better than RE1 though, no matter how hard contrarians seethe. It's good in spite of being easy, not because of it
>>
RE1 and 3 are both objectively superior to 2. But nostalgia fags will nostalgia fag.

what you trying to do, OP?
>>
>>747660308
nah. tremendous nah if you're including the 1 remake
>>
>>747660016
N64 version has an Arrange mode. Also HUNK's scenario is pretty difficult
>>

OK, but did you know that Sherry will hold your hand if you get close enough?

RE2 is just far better in terms of story, characters, voice-acting, writing, setpieces, pacing, graphics, polish, limping from damage, the two scenarios, greater focus on action, more interesting environments, less backtracking, and even the environmental text scroll is much faster. It overall is just a much better feeling game.

You can just say you enjoy both if you actually do instead of treating them like ego replacements, doesn't even make sense to split hairs since they all share similar appeal.
>>
>>747661126
I don't enjoy both, RE2 is far better than 1
>>
>>747661282
Then you have fickle superficial tastes and don't enjoy core RE gameplay unless everything is perfect and sanded down.
>>
>>747661380
Core gameplay in both is pretty shallow (which is why I prefer 4 and 5), but 2's core gameplay is better than 1 as well. Most of those things mentioned are directly or indirectly related to gameplay

I finished the game with over 15 ink ribbons on my first attempt

I've played the original Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 and 4, and they all were fairly easy.

Right now I am playing Requiem and I am getting my ass kicked.

/v/ told me new games were easy, so the casuals would not get scared.

RE2R is pretty hard on a first playthrough too but it's more of a knowledge check than skill, best experience I've had was almost running out of ammo just as the dogs at the parking lot spawned, so I was stuck there trying to kill them through the door and it felt like an eternity since I last saved. More survival horror games need to induce that sort of stress and resource management.

>but it's more of a knowledge check than skill
Yeah this feels pretty true.
That one super tanky zombie in the morgue room for one of the more infamous examples.
>>
>>747663792
Yeah, RE1 ended up being a really easy game. I liked it a lot and it's a good game, but it just kinda ends on this very limp note 'that's it?'. I thought there was still a last act of the game left and then I killed the final boss and it was like "THAT was the final boss?!?!" He was easier than the first boss and I didn't even have the Magnum.

>setpieces
>more interesting environments
Nah, it falls off after the police station, and the mansion's better throughout.
RE2 showers you with so many resources that it can barely even be considered a "survival" horror.

>less backtracking
Backtracking done well is actually a crucial aspect of survival horror games. Knowing which rooms to use your precious resources on, which are worth clearing out for future revisits, etc.
Something RE2 lacks entirely because you're basically a war machine.

>limping from damage
Jesus Christ, like padding out a word essay. As if saying "setpieces" and "interesting environments" as if they're 2 separate things didn't make it obvious before.
>>
>>747665251
The sewers and lab in RE2 mog the shit out of the bland, samey interiors of the mansion where you're constantly luggong around key item bullshit and then backtracking because you didn't have clairvoyance to blindly guess what items an upcoming puzzle would have. Plus RE2 has one of the best intro gameplay segments of any game to date.

And yes, little things like attention to detail, limping, and significantly faster text scroll go a long way in carrying a vibes-based game (because no one is playing either for the "gameplay")
