I have recently gained a new trepidation around playing videogames that I know will be a long road. Like over 20h of playtime makes me feel like I have to mentally prep for a journey instead of starting a game for fun. Anyone else got this problem? Literally feels like a task instead of lieasure. Short games don't have this problem because I don't feel like there's anything that really needs to be studied and observed critically.
do you have to mentally prepare yourself for pokemon? because they are kids games and the same length.
>>747665619Sounds like you don't actually want to play videogames
Every games I played this year was like between 10 to 20 hours long. RE9, Pragmata, Star Wars Zero Company and Blood of Dawnwalker. I'm not interested in games that are longer than that desu. Even Blood of Dawnwalker was pushing it as by the last 3 or 4 hours I was very bored and just wanted it to be over with.
>>747665619I do think shorter games should have less of a stigma to them, especially if they're fun to replay. I get why people don't want to spend $70 or $80 on a 5-8 hour game, but something like $40 or $50 wouldn't be so bad. I miss arcadey games.
Ever since my baby was born I've not been able to string more than an hour of uninterrupted gameplay, I've literally started games like Resident Evil and Ninja Gaiden, and by the time I sat down to play them again I've completely forgotten the entire game or even controls. It's also unfun to just start and stop games all the time, so all I play now is super short games like mobile card games and occasionally fighting games, so I can just stop and pick them back up whenever.
>>747665619yes especially with how long games can take to get to the point you could be look at 1 or 2 weeknight play sessions before it feels like the game has even started which is daunting when you think of all the other things you could be doing. it's usually always worth it and i think it has less to do with losing interest in vidya as some might say and more just life/chore/job bullshit filling up your life
>>747665619I don't feel that trepidation, but I do like to make sure I have time allotted in advance. Like earlier this year I started playing Bravely Default knowing that there were no games I wanted to play releasing that month. Because I didn't want to feel like oh shit I need to finish it before whatever game comes out and I'll be dividing my time between them.
>>747665619Beside playing fighting games I don't touch anything over five hours nowadays, basically just 8 and 16 bit games and the more arcadey 32 and 64 bit stuff. Short and concise with all killer no filler is all I have time for now.
>>747665619Long games don't bother me, but compettitive games do. Games like league and hots. I ised to like hots but i didn't want to commit time to learning it.
