The updates are always too small, and they rarely add content that's actually fresh or interesting. When people get excited it's always about autism garbage like "WAOW, ANOTHER NICHE TRINKET THAT NOBODY WILL USE, WAOW!" I wish there was a Terraria-like competitor with more scope. Starbound is the only real alternative, but it's way too controversial. The one thing I did like about Starbound is that it has more interesting roleplay aspects from the multiple races, and I do think it looks a lot better. Unfortunately everything else is substantially worse unless you mod the absolute shit out of it.
